The winners of the 68th Annual Mainichi Film Awards, hosted by the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper, were revealed on Tuesday. The awards will be distributed on February 13, 2014 at an event to be held at the Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall (located in Kawasaki). The event is to be sponsored by a variety of big names including the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Agency for Cultural Affairs, and the Japan Federation of Filmmakers.

The various awards that are relevant to anime and manga are listed below:

Animation Film Award: Kaguya-hime no Monogatari
Noburou Oofuji Award: Umi ni Ochita Tsuki no Hanashi (Short Film)
Tsutaya Film Fan Award: Kaze Tachinu

The short film winner doesn't have a MAL entry? Googled the title — the few screencaps of it that I can find look interesting. And the title is great - the story of the moon that fell into the sea (or something like that)...
