From a promotional poster distributed to bookstores, it was revealed that the anime "Nisekoi", adapted from the manga of the same name, will start airing in January 2014. The manga is currently serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump and the anime is made by studio Shaft starring Uchiyama Kouki, Hanazawa Kana, and Touyama Nao in the main cast.

The poster also showed that volume 8 of the manga will be released on September 4th, while volume 9 will be released on November 1st and will have a special edition that will include a bundled drama CD.

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

imo, cast should be the Tomatsu and Matsuoka (SAO duo). Not Nao and Kouki :(

The cast doesn't thrill me (Drama CD cast is still much better), the shaft studio handling it make me less excited due to their weird animation styles, and the premise sounds too cookie-cutter romcom hijinks. And despite being serialized on Jump, i don't see it being adapted past 1-cour. Not going to put my hope in it, and will only watch it if general consensus on MAL consider it compelling and engaging, thats all

I've heard a lot of good things about this manga, thus I'll make sure to give it a shot.

I still find it weird to see Shaft working on a normal story like this. Regardless of discussing the actual quality of the manga it's a pretty standard shounen romcom. It may not seem like it due to the mafia/gang premise, but that really only gets into play to introduce characters, other than that the situations are pretty standard.

Anyway, I'm not a big fan of Shaft and I don't love the manga (even though I like it) but I'll watch this to see the final product. Kinda curious about it to be honest.

I'll completely disregard the stupid plot and stupid characters with a short memory who can't remember their childhood crush, and I'll watch it only because it's Shaft. <3 <3 <3

Super sugoi keikaku.
It's a shame Double Arts got axed and Niskoi gets popular enough to get an anime.

But still, I am interested in how Shaft will adapt this. I don't expect this to be good, though.

It is not as if Shaft only works on weird stories -- Hidamari comes to mind for example.

I'm going to give it a shot but I believe Nisekoi works better as a manga.

Double Arts was much better than Nisekoi and it is a shame indeed :( though that's probably because I prefer that genre more.

But I'm still looking forward to the adaptation since Uchiyama is Raku. I kind of wish someone else is voicing Chitoge though, I don't particularly like Touyama's voice. And I've only watched one anime by Shaft I think so I'm not sure what to expect. I'm just glad it's airing in the winter since there's so much I want to watch in the fall already.

SHAFT = must watch.

This should be good.

And it seems like Kana Hanazawa is more and more becoming a SHAFT veteran. Not that I'm complaining.

This manga...it's awesome nor is it bad. It's just, as other people have put it, your standard harem rom-com and unlike most it doesn't have ecchi. Well, at least, that's how it was for the first 50 chapters or so.
But now it's full of fillers and there's no progress and it's just getting more girls and it's just bad.

Might be one of, if not the only, Shounen Jump thing I can really get into.

I only managed to read the one-shot so far, but it still makes me excited for the anime.

Wow a reaction based on actual interest in the source being adapted and nothing more. That's so 90's.

Reading this thread has been kind of hilarious though. ZOMG SHAFT COUNT ME IN THAT MEANS IT MUST BE GOOD! OH NOES SHAFT IS DOING THIS WILL NOT WATCH! I kind of miss the days where people took interest or declined to based on the type of work and synopsis itself and not just blind studio fanboyism. I mean personally I'm not a huge fan of Romantic Comedy and the premise doesn't sound particularly interesting (I wasn't a fan of the likes of Seto No Hanayome which this kind of sounds like) so I'm pretty sure I won't be following this.

Can't you just wait for the anime though? It's SHAFT, chances are the anime will blow it's manga counterpart out of the water.
