I haven't seen the series yes, but I saw some pictures of the two main characters that would hint that they are gay for each other
Im assuming that these are just random fan made pictures or something, but I just want to know for sure

No they are not gay, they are just friends. And those pics you found can be found for Sanji and Zoro too.

You want the writer/producers answer? It goes like this: You want them to be gay for each other- they are, you don't want them to be gay- they aren't. Period. You can interpret it however you want.
Bonus facts: Kotetsu doesn't care for women in general, Barnaby doesn't care for people in general. Their relationship is a purely unitary situation, read: in this case their preferences don't apply.

Noo..... That's not what happens.... It's a good anime, the characters are actually pretty deep and the storyline gets seriously engaging over halfway through the series (but you need the episodes beforehand to get to know the characters.).
