Ok... intense fighting and drama....

Keisei is using all suicidal techniques to beat the crap out of the betrayer priest... and loses an eye. He now looks like Kakashi for some reason....

What I found hilarious was after Keisei transferred the contract to Ouri, he tells Makina to take Ouri and escape. Then Makina drags his body and Keisei says: "Don't drag me, drag Ouri". I found that really funny for some reason.....

But other than that, Keisei's death was pretty sad. Even at the end, he is still uncertain whether he brought Makina back from Hell or whether he simply dragged her to another Hell....And Makina had to laugh to fulfill Keisei's death wish to see her laugh one last time....and to avoid Keisei becoming a corpse because of any unfulfilled wish....

And...holy **** Makina hyper mode destroyed one of the Shichisei only with hand and fists. That means Ouri's spiritual power must have been incredible to make Makina this much stronger....Of course, that Shichisei was already greatly weakened by Keisei's suicidal technique and Ouri nearly died because his life energy got drained too fast....But still...good to FINALLY see Makina kick ass....

And the betrayer priest actually SAVED Ouri as a last token of friendship between Keisei and him....

And that was how Ouri became 16 and a contracted priest on the night of his birthday....this whole first season sounds more like prequel to the mature and growned up Ouri....

It was a sad and painful death for Keisei... Makina was initially thinking of keeping him alive even as Shikabane but in the end she smiled for him so that he could leave the world without regrets. However, what I must say that his death was kinda expected, from his reaction upon hearing Ouri's apology in Ep 11 and also the ED which showed Ouri clad in Priest outfit.

I didn't expect Keisei to make such a request to Ouri (I thought he wanted to protect him from the Sect; I guess Makina is more important to him at that moment).

It was good to see Makina getting up (at least for a moment) to destroy the Shichisei that came attacking with Akasha, but at the expense of Ouri's life energy (guess she's not in the mood to care about that). Makina really kicked some ass, fighting with that Shichisei without any weapon until near the end.

I was also surprised that Akasha helped Ouri regain his life energy... But I think that would be the (first? and) last time that he'll help him.

I wonder what will happen during the next season.. Ouri doesn't seem to believe in the Sect that killed Minai, he also has to bear all the responsibilities that Contracted Priest carries. And there's also the issue with the black cat.. It seemed to be more of his foe than ally (found his behaviour at the end of Ep 11 out-of-place). In any case, I'll be certainly looking forward to the next season! (Wonder how interesting will Ep 13 be...)

wow what a brilliant episode, it became prediactable keisei was going to die and ouri was going to take his place but i thought it was a great idea. I also give them huge credit for killing off a main character half way through the series (since theres another season), not enough series take a risk like this i think it makes the plot so much deeper.

What a kickass episode, literally.

Keisei put up a great fight, I can't wait to see the final episode and the new season. If there's more stuff like this, it will be awesome.

i completely agree, this first season really has been a prequel for the story to come into play in the next season. If the entire second season is going to be as good as the past few episodes then its going to be one hell of a season.

Great episode, I watched raw due to being especially certain about it, and today the same but with subs, and I'm surprised that I understood the most of it quite well. Unfortunately ep 13 was hard to understand and also disappointing - it is not something what you should especially looking for.

I hope that SH: Kuro will be subbed soon, I can't wait!!

The dialogue in this episode was atrocious...almost everything the Betrayer Priest said was some shounen stereotype. Animation was the best it's ever been, and I actually liked what I was seeing for about 2 seconds. I don't really understand why they broke this up into two shows if they are going to be aired subsequently. Maybe Kuro will be better than this since it feels more like an extended prologue than an actual show.

Good question, especially that the first episode of Kuro was out one week after the last episode of Aka. Also opening is the same in both Aka and Kuro series. It is just like the next arc, not season. I think that plot in Kuro takes place some years later than events from Aka - but I'm not sure I'm waiting for subs...

Well, since I knew (actually predicted) everything to happen just like this, this episode was....well....boring to me. I didn't find Keisei's death sad at all, I think I wouldn't find the death of any character (except Minai who died earlier :( ) to be sad since I don't care about them.
Animation was great, music was good for the scenes. 7/10 for this episode.

The way they killed Shikei was not exactly perfect (loads of dialogues and it just drags on for too long), but well, Kamina's death in Gurren Lagann was very bad too and everyone loves it (Kittan's one is far more impressive and sad). However, from the insert song to the end, it's just pure kickass and badass Makina all over, the fight is just fantastic, and on top of it, the animation is Gainax-like.

I just love the atmosphere of this show, and I can overlook most of the "not-so-good scenes" since it's basically a dark shonen not aimed at adult or specialist audiences and it's a pretty great one at that. In recent years, I only remember Kekkaishi being better than that as a shonen.

I'm really waiting for the last episode of Aka and obviously the first episodes of Kuro. I'm really looking forward to knowing exactly what is this cat that and why Oori is so attracted to death, and I'm pretty he'll develop quite a bit too along with Makina.

Keisei died a very badass death, the best character in this show. I hope they don't bring him back as a corpse, that would just be too much crap.

What the hell you talkinh about there. Keisei died because he went kamikaze on Akasha. The guy said it. All of Keisei's sutras were about overpowering the opponent at the cost of his spiritual force.

Yeah shure.. It had nothing to do with Ouri stabbing him!
Using all those sutras was his only option. He had to use that crazy medicine juist to stand..

I didn't really like this episode too much. It was sad to see him die but to me the rest of the episode was average to good. I'll probably give this show a 7 but no higher. ( Unless the last episode is really really good.)

Okay so maybe I ignored some things. What I mean is that he could have survived the stabbing, and he in fact DID survive the stab. But his body gave away after he started using the powerfull attacks. The Stab was the main thing, but he didn't do anything to better his chances of surviving the ordeal.

Because being stabbed in the chest with barely any force will cause a lot more damage than having your eye ripped out by some undead thing. Not to mention the fact he poisoned himself aswell. Now where the hell are the subs for ep.13 >.<.

Pretty awesome episode now where are my ep 13 subs so I can move onto the next season. Excellent death scene though and the lack of sound except for the BGM was very good in certain scenes. I want to see Makina in the next episode react to Ouri as she probably will be very cold towards him and he has no clue wtf is going on. Maybe the assassin guy will start to teach him at the end of next ep.

Yeah, I figure something like that will happen. He decided to return all of a sudden, and he's more of a random factor in the fight than everyone else. I can imagine Ouri will only trust him out of everyone in the cult.

Nice episode. The battle was good, and Makina's eyes were so fearsome and cool. It's sad that Keisei didn't do much in his final hour. Now it's up to Oori. However I don't have faith in him- I find him kind of useless.

While I'm inclined to sort of agree, he was more or less in a daze through most of the events, AND he did cry after things settled, when he found out Keisei's surprise gift (the food).

Plus he did get possessed and then drained of most of his life energy by Makina, so I suspect that'd screw with his perception of whats going on.

Meh the entire Shikabane aka show turned out to be mediocre in my opinion...

Oh yeh Kesei, died how sad.. but still there wasnt enough (romantic) character development between him and Makina to make the ending a bit (more) tear-jerking..

And the action was meh.. nothing extreme to be seen .. just senseless action..

In short 70% of episode 12 was boring..
I had to slap myself together to see it through..
