Goodbyes are a sad, sad thing. I'm probably the only one who cried during this ep. Or maybe not. I didn't expect that timeskip at the last part, but it was definitely the perfect ending for this series.

I just finished this anime today. I really enjoyed all of the characters and the plot was well done. The only complaint i really had was the fast-forwarded ending.

Very enjoyable, a wonderful surprise after feeling as though i had seen all of the best anime out there 9/10 (willing to take recommendations)

Right, Angeletta. It would have been also great if she made an appearance after being sent off. But I still would prefer Bianca over her anyway.

There was 3 uncessary cliche episodes that only got in the way/
Fast rushed ending, not enough developement between Bianca and Romeo,
the forgoten sick girl he called angel who stayed in France needed a fix on this anime script.

Rate 6/10 it had the potential to be more but just went over melodramatic and too many cliche for its own good along those characters development i mentioned who had its own flaws.

* Nikita wearing a flower on her head like Alfredo wanted her too (OTP <3)

* The bosses wife stopped being a hard ass CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT although I kinda wish for a progression on this instead of out of the blue

*Anzelmo still is a little shit probably the only unlikable character left remaining along with Alfredo's Aunt and Uncle.

*I got the flash forward I wanted and I cried when Bianca and Romeo named their child Alfredo.

*I wished for an update on Angeletta, but hey I bet some people here all had a first love and ended up with someone else. So I'm not surprised at all that him and Bianca got married I kinda expected it once Alfredo was going on about how great Romeo was and she was being tsundere about it. xD

Amazing series 10/10 I hope for a DVD release in the US even if it is just subbed.

Unlike many I'm actually new to the show. But I was invested and deeply moved by it. Great characters, great story, great execution! Proves that as long as the story and characters are well-developed even a show as old as this one without high-quality animation can still get you invested in it.

And so the time for goodbyes and farewells finally arrives. Peace has finally come to Milan and it seems like most of the characters have changed for the better. It's a shame that Anzelmo remained a brat and my heart sank a bit to see Luini back at selling children. I was hoping he'd have had a change of heart, but I suppose it wasn't going to be that simple. It just goes to show that the world isn't all happy rainbows and magic when the main characters finally find their happiness.

For me, it felt like Romeo no Aoi Sora ended back at episode 30. It's not to say that the episodes following it weren't enjoyable, in fact they were satisfying. This felt like a well needed epilogue following the events of the Black Brothers when they stood at 12 strong. Turning their lives into Alfredo's legacy, Romeo and the others stood up once again and moved forward. The timeskip at the end surprised me. I would have liked to have seen more, perhaps the old gang meeting up one more time or Romeo visiting Alfredo's grave. But the message it sent at the end was still heartwarming and I am satisfied with the sense of closure it brought.

Well it's been quite an adventure and it seems that it is now my turn to bid farewell to Romeo. After recently finishing another WMT work, Shoujo Cosette, I feel as though this is a solid follow up to the sensation that both have given me. Through the trials and struggles, the ups and downs, Romeo no Aoi Sora was riddled in various character building themes such as brotherhood, education, pursuing one's dreams, freedom, enduring, optimism, and not letting life get the better of you. But above all, I feel as though the main message is that life is going to take unexpected twists and turns. That, rather than resenting the bitter memories, I should look for opportunities that arise each day as a result of persevering. To grow stronger from life's challenges, not to be crushed under them.

Thoroughly enjoyable series and children should be watching these kinds of shows more. The ones that make us think and inspire us to improve ourselves. 9/10

Although one part that I found disappointing was how Angeletta got sidelined and never came back. What's more, it seemed like the chemistry between her and Romeo completely diminished and I just wasn't feeling Bianca x Romeo as much.

I forgot to mention this in my old post I really wished they could have all had a reunion or at least a narration on how the other members of the brotherhood are doing as well as Nikita, but this ending was still nice imo. The series closed off pretty well still.

It saddened me a bit to see Romeo end up with Bianca..
Angeletta was obviously the go-to character to marry, but he ends up with someone who only met him 7-8 episodes ago --'

Some infos about the ending:

The anime did some changes to the story of the original novel:

Angeletta originally wasn't send to Paris and she always said that she has not much time left, so it's safe to assume that she died. That's why she wasn't mentioned at the end and Romeo choose Bianca.

Also in the novel Anzelmo blames Romeo for stealing after Alfredo died. Romeo then has to flee to Switzerland because he can't prove his innocence. He manages to survive because of Dr. Casella, who helps him there, and in the end they even get the authorities of Switzerland to arrest Luini.

Altogether it takes him 9 years until he finally returns to his home village & family and in the meantime Anita is an adult and has an own family.

Would've loved to see Angeletta and Romeo together, that's my only flaw with the ending. Just far too much development between them that it warranted a good shipping between them, since they both leaned and supported each other through the earlier episodes and admitted their love. If the anime changed so much from the original story, they should've changed that as well. I still really love this show, but I really wish we got more time to develop the relationship instead of just having a timeskip explain it. The timeskip would've made sense only with Angeletta since they had already developed a strong romantic relationship, but whatever. Besides me nitpicking about that, wonderful show.

Was anybody else peeved that the story seems to have forgotten all about Angeletta in Paris?
I would've liked to have seen what became of her; if she lived or not.

When the post story showed Romeo and Bianca married, it gave me the impression that Angeletta died or something because that was the first girl Romeo loved.

And I don't mean to be a hater because she was just a child, but I didn't like Bianca too much. I was hoping she and Romeo would remain close friends, but them getting married makes the most sense. Especially naming their child after Alfredo.

I can't help but wish it was Angeletta though.

Either way, I loved this story. Worked a tear out of me at the very end; especially during the Black Brothers flashback. Seeing Alfredo again killed me... His memory exists in a moment in time they can never go back to. God bless these children.

Agree that this kind of anime is what children have to see more. That's why it's part of the world's masterpiece series, these stories are made by those who have experienced life and able to convey life lessons instead of anime made by otakus who simply depict an idealized version of how an anime should be.

The story has its clichees, combined with old style animation and effects but they never bother me during important moments.

On the corner of my heart I'm still sad about Alfredo though his legacy goes on through Romeo and Bianca. Glad I watched this.

Everything that has a beginning must have an end. Farewells, tears, and goodbyes come along with that. And so is it with Romeo no Aoi Sora.

This final episode offers so much feels. The friendships and the bonds that unite the Black Brothers come to an end. A farewell among the members make me sob a little. Such a bittersweet ending for Black Brothers.

In the end, the anime still has some remaining question. And that is Angeletta, Romeo's first love. Since the farewell on the station, we never heard about her anymore. I would love to hear about her news even just a little.

Following the journey of Romeo and his friends are a great experience. A story that I won't forget for a long time has delivered its truly best piece of work. All in all, I give this anime 9/10 overall and 10/10 for enjoyment.

Boy, Anzelmo remained a low life till the very end.

That was quite an enjoyable ride with many touching moments and this final episode gave us a beautiful conclusion for this story.

It was nice to see that Romeo could fulfill his dream and married Bianca. It's probably the biggest cliche ending there is, but considering that this show is older than me (the novel even older),it probably wasn't as much of a cliche back then.

Well, whatever is was nevertheless a little masterpiece. But despite my enthusiasm there were still a few minor things which bothered me. 8/10

Edit:Felt like rewatching it and my opinion didn't change, still a beautiful finale.

This anime was a short lasting blessing that I was allowed to experience. I had initially meant to drop it, because I was a little unsure about the age of it, but boy did I make a good decision picking it up again!

This anime was to me personally perfect except the uncertainty regarding Angeletta.. but nothing is perfect I guess. Still 10/10. Would watch again, but I would probably crumble emotionally.

So Anzelmo didn't changed his ways in the end. Kinda sad. I hoped that they would give him an episode or two to redeem himself. Would've liked it more than the weird circus episode at the end. But oh well...

I must also admit that I didn't really like how the anime completely dropped Angeletta after her departure. I really loved the relationship between Romeo and Angeletta, seeing how both of them were there for each other was genuinely heartwarming. I think the episode where Romeo and his friends secretly helped Angeletta to reach her grandmothers house . Seriously, he anime did a great job developing the relationship between those two, so seeing how the anime completely ignored her in the end was really disappointing. I don't like at all how Romeo married Alfredo's annoying sister in the end, it felt really rushed and there was barely any chemistry between those two. Disappointing ending overall.

But other than that, I absolutely loved this anime. I think I never saw any other anime that portrayed friendship and comradeship as beatifully as Romeo no Aoi Sora. The story was great, the soundtrack was beautiful and almost every character was likeable. So glad that I found this gem.

I don't mind that Romeo married Bianca because they both are united because Alfredo, but really, sudden disappearance of Angeletta from everyone memories (Romeo in particular) after she went to Paris really disturbing.. It's good that anime changed this part from the novel, but they should also resolve this problem in the story and character background (Romeo was never even once thinking about or remembering Angeletta, he looked like someone that his memories deleted in the last arc) ...

There were a lot of things that I wish were expanded upon and the pacing was rushed in the latter half but I really liked it. But it bugged me anyway.
Even though this episode didn't wrap up the character arcs that I wanted it to, it did what it focused on very well.

But damn no resolution for Angeletta, Luini, AND Nikita? What?! It's like he forgot Angeletta. Don't tell me she died!

I'm actually happy though that the anime didn't repeat Anzelmo framing Romeo for stealing again. That would have been an overuse and uncreative.

Anyway, especially fuck this anime for dropping Angeletta after her arc. Bianca is great but Angeletta is best girl.
How the hell can Romeo and Bianca get married when Romeo and Angeletta had far better chemistry and more time?

Overall, it doesn't come close to Akage no Anne but I liked it. 7/10. A pretty memorable adventure nonetheless.

Anzelmo became a sour bastard until the end, a very fitting part away gift for him from Romeo. I see Nikita has worn that Flower on her hair to honor Alfredo, it kinda makes me happy for how much she loved him. I'm also glad the wolf pack and the black brothers made alliance in the end. Edda shedding a bit of tears for Romeo actually made me happy for how much she cared for him, even though she never showed him. The time skip also was a nice touch, I'm glad Romeo became a teacher and married Bianca. Although I felt it was a match that was done in honor of Alfredo. I also liked how they depicted the end of slavery , but I also wanted to know what happened to Luini in the timeskip!

Overall I loved every bit of this masterpiece anime. But I wish they also did an epilogue on Angeletta, her health and grandma Isabella. I thought her and Romeo loved each other, and would probably get married in the future but I guess not! Also what about Anita, whatever happened to her? Those are the only thing I felt were wrong about the show, but Overall it was a great show. It showed the how weak people can overcome dire situations without losing hope, finding happiness beyond the blue skies.

I find the show good but I don't consider it as one of the best entries in World Masterpiece. I never liked how it resorts to action and adventure like some sort of shonen anime. As someone who watched a lot of WMT in the past, it felt jarring to see some characters beat each other to solve problems more than few times. Some of its predecessors have this kind of problem too but at least its minimal and the characters involved there faced their consequences. I also dislike how the show forgot to deal with Luini and I never consider the show's ending happy. Sure Romeo fulfilled his best friend's ambition but what about the boys after him who become chimney sweeper slaves? They're more likely dead like what happened to Alfredo. The Black Brothers isn't always sufficient to help them. It's disappointing really.

Like anyone here said, I agree that the show should tell what really happened to Angeletta. It was obvious that her leaving the town via train was a blatant way to show that her ending is tragic.

Overall, I give it 7/10. As much as I think that the show has some good moments, it's not sufficient that it has some plot holes.

I beg your pardon but the novel actually resolves the part where Luini is arrested by the authorities. At least that's satisfying than letting them loose. If Romeo and the Black Brothers managed to avoid a group of thugs and security guards in the castle, then why not doing something to stop Luini? That's just careless. The anime version also lost some sense of realism (e.g. too much fighting and romanticizing the life of chimney sweepers) so it's fair.

Only 3 failures
1- How were the other chimney sweeps saved when the ship sank?
2- Where did Romeo and Alfredo fall when Mauricio made them fall?
3- What happened to Angeletta? The only thing that was mentioned of her after going to Paris was when Romeo and the others ran into Isabella
Despite these 3 script gaps, it is an excellent work

1. The rest of the young chimney sweepers in the boat managed to survive, probably most of them were able to swim or helped each other. At least that's what happens in the anime.
2. Romeo and Alfredo happen to fall on the shrubs in the castle courtyard.
3. It's still a mystery what really happened to Angeletta in the final episode. Some have speculated that she died which is why she is never mentioned in the end. In the novel, it was implied that she's dying and she wanted Giorgio (Romeo's real name in the book) not to worry about her so that he can escape from the Rossi family and the authorities.

So many people disappointed about Angeletta in the comments lol. I too am saddened that she left and was never seen again but I have no problem with Romeo marrying Bianca. How often do people end up happily ever after with their first love or childhood crushes? No one loved Alfredo as much as they did. So that love for him and losing him bringing Romeo and Bianca together just works better imo. And Romeo and Bianca probably spent a lot of time together as they grew up. This is the type of show that makes you want to become a better person. A brilliant masterpiece.

A truly heartwarming story, it was a fantastic journey with Romeo, Alfredo, Dante, Michaelo and the Black Brothers and the many kind people they encountered in their time in Milan.
A beautiful message of hope and friendship, to always aspire to be a better version of yourself, to build a better future and spread kindness to the people around you, to chase your dreams and how important it is to study. And most of all, that true friends never truly part ways.

Personally, I don't love the fast forward at the end, but it wasn't a problem in and of itself. The real issue for me was not even mentioning Angeletta once after she left. If you don't wanna have another death for Romeo to deal with besides Alfredo's, just have Isabella say she has been doing well or something like that, to clear the air. Having Romeo suffer from amnesia and not mention her once was really bad to me, specially when remembering how he learned to read, saying it was Professor Cassela who taught him... it was mostly Angeletta man. I don't mind him marrying Bianca, it was a bit too much, but the little Alfredo Jr. was cute so I concede.
Like, Angeletta was a really big part of the whole story and the person who helped Romeo the most in Alfredo's absence, not to mention the whole teaching him how to read thing and their genuine bond and relationship.

(the screenshot is from Episode 24, as the Bianca arc starts)

I'll do the creators a favor and pretend Angeletta was mentioned and said to be doing well closer to the end of the series lol. Still, that's one point or two down from what would have been a clean 10/10.
