This episode and the ones leading up to it were pure magic. I love the fights and how they're all different. It's through them Joe grows, or lives. When everything is pushed to its extreme. Last time was in episode 12-13 if I remember correctly, in the wonderful fight with Carlos.

Best episode in this season by far.

Toru Rikiishi is the main reason of who Yabuki Joe has become... of who he is now.

Absolutely impressive, such relentlessness by Joe. The bond between him and Rikiishi is just so special. Even in death, Rikiishi's still a main character in this series.

Great fight. Kim was an awesome boxer but sadly, I think he was too mentally ill to make it far.

I hope Joe wasn't too badly damaged.

That was so fucking epic. Joes willpower exploded due to his respect for Rikiishi.

I wasn't too much of a fan of this arc because I can't see how Joe has weight issues compared to every boxer he faces, but tbh Rikiishi's connection to this fight and how it affected Joe was simply amazing.

The fights in this show just get better and better. Joe's determination to not lose for Rikiishi's sake shows how much of an impact Rikishii had on his life, and Kim's composure was completely broken by that. Incredibly powerful episode.

Honestly it's a bit silly that Joe managed to win, whether he managed to bypass his mentality or not, he was just...beat up way too much, like literally it makes no sense that he won. Let's keep in mind that Joe was already a literal walking corpse because of his diet, he even had his blood drawn, and well, just a few hours are not even close to being enough to recover... The entire match was one-sided, realism should've prevented Kim's defeat, even if Kim was mentally struggling due to his trauma & Joe's determination.

I like the Rikiishi thing on this fight but doesn't have any sense that Joe could wins, considering all the things that the guy above me said

That was a disgraceful job by the referee he should have stopped the fight, he let Joe take way too many punches.

This season is a blessing man, it literally gets better every single episode. Joe's speech at the end about Rikiishi really hit me hard, It made me really miss Rikiishi... It's so crazy how his influence still lives on even tho he died. Amazing episode

そして。。。 there is a new greatest episode.
How on God's earth did Ikki Kajiwara do this?
New favourite Shounen arc.
I'm sure that some day in the future, a fortunate person will join this thread, and see just how much fun I had watching this episode.

What a terrifying technique, punching in a way so the person can never go down ...
Also I love how Kim's brain just can't handle Joe's fire burning so strong that he just wont give up no matter what.
In the end Joe's mental strength overcame Kim's.

Man I just love the character development of Joe, Rikiishi despite being dead still lives on as strong as ever!

I am happy Yabuki won. But of course Kim was a superior boxer because Kim lost because his PTSD kicked in. He went through more suffering then Rikiishi or anyone else and at a child. It only make sense he would snap after this experience. Otherwise, it would have ended up just like his match with Rikiishi with losing his life for a KO.

Kim verbally announcing he's going to do his epic finisher attack and Joe monologuing about Rikishi in the middle of a match was so corny. Not to mention the ending.

An orphan from the slums of Japan has finally become the Pacific Bantamweight Champion in boxing. With this, Joe has finally set foot on the global stage. I wonder what lies ahead for Joe. Rikiishi's flashbacks played a key emotional role in this episode. Even after long gone, he's a crucial character in the story of Tomorrow's Joe. I've become deeply attached to all these characters. Love this anime man! > 3:51 AM, 21/09/24
