So Pikachu is sick. Not a good way for Ash to start his new adventures in Hoenn region.

Was a an enjyoable rewatch and it's nice that Pokemon is basically something that always goes. Kanto episodic stuff still the best out of all seasons, even tho Johto got some pretty good ones as well.

My 7th completed series chronologically.

For the record, I extended it a 6/10 rating.

Poor Pikachu is sick just as it got into the new region :/
Honestly not a bad episode to end on for the original series although the previous episode felt more like a final episode and this one like one for the new series.

Growing up with Pokemon when I was younger and then now binging through it, it still holds up for me personally.
I still think the Indigo League season (first 82 episodes) was the best out of the 276 episodes and most of Johto felt kinda lackluster.
It just had some genuine emotional episodes and some great fights like; - Blaine, Sabrina, Misty, Brock, Surge etc.
Even episode 1 still holds up as one of the better episodes in the original series.

7/10, despite being very repetitive it's still entertaining to watch.

It took me about 3 months to rewatch the whole thing and these are my impressions: Kanto as a whole had better episodes and was more compact. Johto was almost twice the size and there were around 15-20 episodes between Gym battles, many of which were forgettable. That is not to say that Johto didn't have its moments, for example I enjoyed the episode with Togepi and Houndoom or the small story arcs (baby Lugia, red Gyarados), however I'm also disappointed by how the GS Ball storyline was completely ditched and the rushed pacing of the Silver Conference. On a side note, Brock and James really help this series comedically with their antics.

Pokemon was the first anime I watched as a kid. I still have a soft spot in my heart for Ash, Pikachu, Misty, Brock, even Team Rocket! I think I'll take a break for now and rewatch Advanced Generation in a couple of months.

And this is when the Pokemon anime ended for me.

I watched the other episodes of the new seasons (Advanced, Battle Frontier, some of DiamondPearl) after this episode 276, and also some of the movies after movie 5, but I never really cared for those new seasons and those new movies overall. I stopped following Pokemon overall after like 10 episodes of DiamondPearl. In my brain, I dont even acknowledge anything after episode 276 anymore nor any movies after Movie 5.

But yeah, this episode 276 is the Pokemon finale for me for the TV anime, with the final movie for me being movie 5 (which is the Latios/Latias movie), along with the two mini-movies of "Raikou" and "Mewtwo Returns", and all the Pokemon special episodes (AKA Pokemon Chronicles), and Pokemon Origin

Pokemon for me was the anime that started the whole one-new-episode-per-week thing for me back in the late 1990s, with Saturdays being the new episode released date (Saturday morning to be more exact, that I sometimes missed a new episode due to not waking up)

Again, it was a fun journey

@oooo3333

It's too bad, most of the later seasons are better (especially over Johto), and watch them in Japanese if you can as the dub went bad after awhile.

@precita Dont get me wrong: on paper, the later seasons were better written than the earlier seasons, no doubt.

But I guess by after 276 (and the first 5 movies, Chronicles, and the two special movies), my brain was already turned off when it came to the Pokemon anime.

I still say that Dawn and May and the girl who liked Ash were the greatest female cast in the anime.

But again, my brain was off after 276

And yes, I watched Pokemon foreign Dubbed and not original Japanese dub. Again, I watched Pokemon in the late 90s and early to mid 2000s, and the Pokemon Japanese original dub wasnt really accessible to many of us until Youtube was created in 2005-2006, and the internet back then in the 2000s outside of Youtube wasnt really reliable to access anime in Japanese subtitled.

The one that really disappointed me was Battle Frontier, since they returned to Kanto and I thought we would get to see many of Ash's old-school Pokemon along with many of the people he met back then, but that never happened.

But yes, Pokemon Japanese dub is by far superior than any of their foreign dubs

It's one of my favourite shows, what more is there to say?
Great characters, fun story, great humour and GREAT music!
I especially love how closely the anime ties to the game with references throughout.
There are a lot of filler episodes here, and some of them aren't as fun as others, but that's to be expected. Most of them are fun, and the highlights are really high.
Give it a watch if you love Pokemon (though I'd be surprised if you haven't already).
