| Ok, I'm starting to find the 4 minute format extremely annoying. For the end of each 4 minute episode I have to get up off the couch, walk across the room to the TV I have my laptop hooked up to, close the window, open a new window for the next episode and walk back to the couch again after I start it on the laptop and get comfortable. Since there is no opening, over half the time the dialog starts with my back turned toward the subtitles. At first I thought that finding an antique book store with the books was a weak premise, (book burning campaigns are frequently favored by authoritarian regimes), but since it is already used to dealing in banned/forbidden books, (not just chocolate-related ones), it seems a little more plausible. Being outclassed by the shopkeeper was really funny to me, but was probably necessary in the plot to keep the two boys working as a team. You can see rivalries that end up working resentfully toward the same goal as in xxxHolic, but it isn't a simple sort of thing to convey in a short amount of time. |
