I've been out of the anime loop for a good month now, and am just now in the process of catching up on Geass R2, To Love-Ru and Soul Eater. Seems like most people here watch a lot of the current stuff, so I thought I'd rather ask here than AN.

So now, from the Spring shows, what turned out to be good, or has been good so far, and what looks good from the Summer selection? Most of you by now probably know that I'm pretty open to any genre so long as the quality is good.

Golgo 13, Soul Eater and Zero no Tsukaima are the best shows airing at the moment not including Code geass of course.

My current new stuff:
-Tetsuwan Birdy DECODE. It's a beast.

Nothing else atm. I have a couple episodes downloaded, like Strike Witches 1, Sekirei 1, etc, but haven't watched them because I want to get rid of some of my backlog. I mean, I still need to watch stuff like Baccano and Clannad, for crying out loud.

You'll definitely like Strike Witches, it's basically Sky Girls again.

Some less talked about gems might be Library Wars and Daughter of Twenty Faces, both of which are pretty good. Other shows i have been enjoying a lot are xxxholic, kamen no maid guy, kurenai, and Special A.

I havent watched enough of the ultra new stuff to form much of an opinion yet, but I couldnt stop laughing at sky witches long enough to keep watching the first episode. loli witches, whose legs get little propellers or 'brooms' that augment their magic powers to fight wierd aliens....its like someone sat around and though about how they could make sky girls even more laughable. I think ill drop that one.

Birdy seemed pretty interesting, and ZnT 3 is a no brainer (as mentioned).

I keep forget about Golgo 13, sounds manly. I'll have to check out Tetsuwan Birdy Decode, sounds like people are raving about it. Other notes...

Special A - How is this progressing? I was interested in this at the beginning of the season.

Strike Witches - I'll probably check it out, I liked Sky Girls and it sounds like it would fall into the category of "Average but enjoyable" like To Love-Ru.

Macross Frontier - I'm a huge mecha fan, this turning out any good.

Zero no Tsukaima 3 - Pass, completely pass. I barely managed to stay awake through the 1st season, and have absolutely no desire to see the 2nd or 3rd seasons.

There were some other Spring shows I was interested in, but I can't even remember their names at the moment. Any mecha airing this summer?

Watch Birdy and Sekirei from this summer season.

It's ranked #19 on anidb, #23 on ANN and #87 here so I would say general opinion is yes it is. Seems to be the 2nd most talked/hyped show this season behind Code Geass R2.

Macross is keeping me interested ...but mainly cause they are throwing me some ranka service last 2 eps :P

Special A has gotten a lot better i think (in the beginning it was cute but nothing..well...special), the comedy has sharpened a good deal, the romantic element is nice, and the last couple episodes even threw in some drama ...

Judging by the first episde, Birdy is going to be great.

For me, this series started out flat and just never took off. Its not exactly bad, but completely forgetable to my mind.

Seems like a copy of Sky Girls to me. Not that such a thing is bad, and it looks like a fun if not terribly special series.

I'm loving it. My favorite mecha series in a while.

Same here. I was not a huge fan of the first season, but sat throught he second season hoping it would be better, only to find it worse. I saw the first episode of the third season and it looks like more of the same, so I won't bother.

I've watched the first episodes of Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto and Telepathy Shoujo Ran and they look promising (if you enjoy serious high school fantasy series). Sekirei is good if you enjoy some mindless fanserivce comedy. Nothing else new has really caught my eye yet.

I'm behind on pretty much everything, and only just recently caught up with To Love-Ru and Geass R2. Soul Eater is on hold indefinitely until it ends, and about the only other shows I'm looking to watch anytime soon from the last two seasons are Macross Frontier and Strike Witches.

There have been...maybe 4 mecha series this year so far, not including carry over from 2007. That makes me sad.

There are at least 3 in the fall season. Linebarrels of Iron, Cashern Sins, and Kemeko DX (sorta)
