personally i chose Tom Baker, but Jon Pertwee and David Tennant were close seconds and honestly if anyone else votes i expect it to be for David or Christopher anyway ;)

for those who don't know the doctors are listed in order in the poll and shown in clockwise order starting at the top left in this picture

Edit: added Matt Smith, sorry he's not in the picture since it was made before his time
Edit 2: Added Peter Capaldi, also not in the picture.
Edit 3: Added John Hurt, can't put him where he belongs without screwing up the poll though.
Edit 4: Added Jodie Whittaker.

The Tenth Doctor for me, though Christopher Eccleston is a close second :)

I haven't seen much of the other Doctors and all I have are vague rememberings of them from my childhood ( I remember more the suffocating rubber alien costumes than the actual doctors XD).

Someday, I'll catch up with the old series :)

well if you love the 10th doctor then you'll probably like/love the 4th and 5th as well. not that you shouldn't give the others a shot ofc. 3-5 and 7 were all good even if seven got some really crappy stories. 1 may have been good but most of his work has been lost and 2 had his moments but for some reason i found him and his companion Jamie annoying.

My first choice is Tom Baker, since he's the main one I remeber from my childhood.
Although Tennant is just as interesting.
But then again the Peter Cushing Dr. Who Movie version was interesting too.

Well that whole 5th through 8th era were times I really do prefer, If I had to pick a favorite it would be somewhere in that little group.

My personal favourite Doctor would have to be Troughton his immediate changes in acting style when confronted with a problem were definitely my cup of tea. its just a shame the majority of his episodes are missing from the archive.

I voted Tom Baker in deference to the fact that he was my first, but Tennant comes in a very close second.

I also have a fondness for Davison, McCoy, and Colin Baker (the 6th Doctor really came back strong in the audio dramas, if only he'd been given such good stories on TV).

I haven't kept up with the audios in several years (got to be too expensive a habit for a college student to maintain) but they had some excellent stories. It also helped give Paul McGann more opportunity to develop his Doctor beyond the novels. Not sure I would haven survived until the new series without the audios and books. ^^

I haven't seen much of the old series so i'd go with David Tennant, not only was he perfect for the role he decided when he was a little kid he wanted to grow and be like the Doctor , i mean how awesome is that?
Plus he looked awesome with that coat lol.

totally agree (: although Christopher Eccleston was nice, too
It's amazing that even if you haven't seen all Doctors, you still understand what's this all about, so to speak... Great series

Well choosing while I know only 3 out of the 11 choices doesn't seem all that fair. Actually 4 out of 11, since I've watched a couple of Tom Baker episodes and plan on watching more. I'll still give my vote to David Tennant though because he's the one that got me into this show and I think that no matter who else I watch play the part he's always going to be my doctor.

I didn't start Who until series 5, so Matt Smith's first series. I've only seen the new stuff, but yeah, your first doctor is quite special. Eccleston is my second choice. I was never big on Tennant, but he did get my favorite companion so far: Donna Noble

I like Matt Smith because he's sort of child-like, but he can be very adult-like when he needs to be.

David Tennant, hands down. He was the best. I really like Matt Smith though. I'll be sad to see him go, but i'm curious as to see what Peter Capaldi will bring to the series.

Def 10th, David Tennant. <3 He was so funny and cool. x)
And 2nd, 9th, Christopher Eccleston, he was fantastic.
and finally, 3rd, Matt Smith. (Tho I disliked him at first, he grew on me so much! <3)

I haven't completed the older series yet, so I can't say... xP

1. Colin Baker
2. William Hartnell
3. Jon Pertwee

bottom would be
1. Smith - he is great actor but he just didn't have good scripts.
2. Tennant - if he would done just 2 season it might be fine but it was too long.
3. Tom Baker - have no idea why but despite having some great stories I'm not too fond of him.

In retrospect (I didn't think so at the time) the year long farewell tour is a bit painful to endure.
