| This may well be my favorite episode so far. Getting to witness the internal strife within the Mazone fleet was really interesting. The ending was great too. |

| Here it really shows how negatively it affect's the story when a rather short story is stretched. When portraying the mazone's being pure evil for almost half the show then it feels really yarring to pull 180. The manga probably gives a more balanced view from early on so it probably is more coherent. |

The first half of the series shows us the Mazone almost entirely from the POV of earthlings. We learn more about the Mazone as Harlock and the crew of the Arcadia themselves do, and slowly we are beginning to learn there's more to them than we were able to know on first sight, such as the fact that they themselves are refugees of a cataclysmic event that destroyed their homeworld. Their leadership is still as ruthless as ever - the anime remains entirely consistent there. We are just beginning to learn now that there are also civilians who are caught in the crossfire. I think the pacing of the story is really quite excellent. |

| There are so many innocent Mazone civilians, and knowing that really opens up one's eyes. Will Harlock's crew be able to save any of them? |

| starting with zolba and that girl mazon we started to change our view of mazon, this episode was great in developing this, it feels more like a tirany that rafflesia haves, they exterminated a race just to create a garden hahah, so yeah at least they started to better this aspect cause i was getting bored of how comically bad they were, even the daughter of chief maji didnt show any emotions towards him, its nuts how bad they were portrayed, not even a glimpse of empathy, great development cause honestly all chief stuff was crazy |
