These kind of episodes are the reason I'm attracted to ABe's works.
The raw reality and the questioning of one's existence and how life can just be down right depressing sometimes.
I relate to Mayuko and I would probably be in her exact same situation if I ever become dirt poor and have to live on my own someday.

Well said,definetly agree with you.
What I like even more about it is how in his other works, the setting is rather depressing, bleak and harsh what causes these emotions of the characters. But here it's a somewhat normal and "real" setting and her feelings are caused because...well because "normal" life is sometimes just depressing.

ABe brings the pain like usual. Didn't expect it from this series, but I probably should have. Relatable shit.

Man, Rerided was such a piece of shit that it got me rewatching ABe's old stuff. First Texhnolyze, now this.

It's been over 4 years since I've last seen this, and while I did remember it fondly, I did not remember it being this good. I suppose my perspective has changed a bit since then, but this episode actually blew me away, and the strangest part is how I didn't really expect it to despite having seen it once already. It truly captured that ephemeral essence of the ordinary human. As others have said, Mayuko just feels... normal. And it's a kind of normal that's very hard to depict accurately. It's amazing how melancholic this made me feel.

Overall NieA_7 has been reminding me of the early episodes of Haibane Renmei, and this episode in particular has been not only on that same level of quality, but maybe even better (which is a feat given how much I love Haibane Renmei even in its first half). I just wish there were a bit less crude humor in NieA_7. It' not the worst, but the show can clearly do better, and it's a shame it didn't consistently keep this up.

Also, nobody else pointed this out, in last part of the skit with the Indian guy, the dude with the censored eyes is yasuyuki ueda, the show's producer. Man has a sense of humor for sure.

Pretty nuanced portrayal of Mayuko's pitiful reality, you can easily see why this would hit close to home and I gotta say myself that this episode managed to move me for the first time as well. The grounded drama was quite the contrast to the otherwise whack comedy.

Mayuko in the hat reminded me of Lain a bit. Also, the (Y)Ebisu beer! Gives me some Eva flashbacks

It was painful how relatable this episode was. While I do enjoy this show overall, I wish it has more episodes like this going forward.
