THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- So how did you liked the remake one, when I was younger I was such Dragon ball Z fan, but I probably outgrown it now, because it didn't interest me same as I was still a little kid, though drawing was good, so share your thoughts :) |

some question so... is there a big difference in the art (like DB kai opening) or just a remastered version? |

The animation change in the new special was that of the newest Dragon Ball special (Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Return). Also the same as that of the title sequence to Kai. The original special was in good old fashioned DBZ animation, and so Toei felt that the new videogame, including Hatchiyack, was in need of a freshly animated special. I think they did a great job reanimating it, although Toei wasn't very generous on the size of the subtitles... Man, were those hard to read! |

Tehe it was cool to see this reanimated after just finishing the original. As expected it was rushed, but at least they were smart and made a few changes to make it fit. Destroying the ghosts actually made sense this time too. The only change I don't like is that Piccolo helped defeat the main baddie. It's called 'Destroy the Saiyans' not 'Namekians'. Geez. It probably would have been better to just cut him out altogether. Either way I still enjoyed it :D |

well, it was awesome, i watched it when i bought Raging Blast 2 for PS3 and it came as a bonus movie in the game... anyway, the story is great, hatchyakku is great, and goku still kick ass even after 20 years of series (actually he'll continue to do it forever) xDDD |

Nice animation, I wish they made more OVAs like this one every so often. |

It was better than the original. Glad they cut out the meaningless stuff from the first episode of the original. If only kai had this kind of animation. |

The animation was better than the original but that's about it. Everything else was rushed as all hell to try and fit the plot into 30mins instead of an hour, cutting out stuff and changing things that didn't need to be cut/changed. Sorry but this was quite terrible. |

There is the "Z" missing in the title from "Dragon Ball "Z": Super Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku" |

As uninteresting as before, this full OAV succeed in being even less of an episode than the original one (who was part videogame). When you build a story in a video, you can't just put scene after scene with no cohesion. The drawing style is as shiny as any post-GT DB anime, and the bruises or blood as absent as in nowadays children productions. Enjoyment: 1/5 Score: 2/10 |

Hmm, it's just a little bit better than the original. At least they made it shorter and straight to the point. I didn't like the modern animation though, for my eyes, it doesn't fit DBZ. 6/10 |

okay so this and it's alternate version I'm sure I remember watching subbed back in the day, and I guess they were still never dubbed? Because doing a full DB dubbed rewatch I found some weird fandub of this (similar to episode of bardock...in fact I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same fandub group). Real shame they never dubbed and put these out officially. Honestly feel like it would be much more enjoyable with a proper dub, and so it's harder to accurately judge how enjoyable it is/was. I remember thinking they were great subbed when I watched them that way back in the day. Not that the fandubs are entirely terrible either, I guess it's great that they exist, especially as a lot of fans and kids would refuse to watch subbed. This at least gives more options to watch it. Definitely overall less enjoyable then watching subbed or if we had got an official dub tho I guess. |

Watching this remake and the 93 original OVAs back to back didn't really do this any favor. All charme and personality is basically gone. Not only with the now more colorful "clean" animation style, that misses the gritty and sometimes brutal feeling of the original, also so many scenes that really captured the character's personality were just cut out. I mean yeah, half of it is missing to begin with and that adventure wasn't something to write home about. But the first half really gave it a grander scale and i think the fights against the jobber minions were kinda cool. This just comes of as a soulless and blandly redone work. |
