You just know it was coming. Forget about this being the penultimate episode or this being a training camp with bonfire, which in the world of anime has a RICH history when it comes to making or breaking couples, but yeah, they weren't even a couple, as you know this was always about Hina and how one-sided everything was. All that talk over how she wanted things to go down and how it still will not, was genuinely sad.

It's easy to hate Taiki here, but for him, this was never something MORE THAN a friendship. We never saw him holding any sort of feelings towards Hina, even after getting confessed to by her some 10 episodes ago. Sure he was confused but that's normal for someone his age when two girls have the same kind of feelings for you.. which in itself is not really normal but okay xD He was clear with his communication, so yeah, the stuff could've been delayed(it actually would have if Ayame wasn't so super smart), but this was inevitable:(

The ship has sunk officially, deeeeeeep down. Power to Hina, and it's over to just Chinatsu from here on out.

I mean, an expected outcome right, but still the presentation they went with was really touching. But nonetheless an important moment for Hina, hope she'll be able to move on from now on, and stay on not awkward terms with Taki, i'm sure she will, considering the way she is.

And also an important monent for Ayame as well, hope she now realizes what love is, and how damaging can it be when handled so frivolously.

That`s the type of episode that reminds me how special this anime is. It`s full of all the old tricks we`re seen a million, but is done in such a distinguished way, focusing on emotions, perspectives, outcomes, etc, that it subverses expectations delivering exactly what we expected (if that's even possible).
It`s been a massive hit on Hina, but in life, that`s the type of blow that ends up turning you into a better person. And for Taiki as well, I loved the way the story handled his emotions. His best friend comes out saying she loves him, every person would at least be moved by that, feel the uncertainties he felt since the school festival. "What is going to be of our friendship, how's she going to feel knowing I love someone else, would it be so be if we got together?". It's such a genuine and verisimilar reaction, I love it.
And all of this not even touching on the Chinatsu's side of things. How's she interpreting everything that's been going on, what are the consequences for she noticing Taiki and Hina's absence.

The show never runs away from the decisions it makes, every action has a relevant outcome, a real development not only for the plot, but for the characters as well, and I keep on being amazed by it every week. What a nice journey this one has been, fellas, I'm really gonna miss it.

I knew we would get to this point, but it was still painful.

Hearing Hina's inner thoughts hit me harder and harder. Although the rejection was obvious from the beginning even so, I was glad. Taiki did the right thing by rejecting her, knowing that she would still hurt herself if she tried to be anything more than his friend. It was hard, but necessary for Hina to move on and Taiki too.

A sad day for Team Hina... luckily, I'm Team Chinatsu.

Aww... my heart broke alongside Hina. My sweet girl. It was so painful to hear those words from Taiki. I felt pain in my heart. Being rejected by the one you love the most is one of the most painful experiences you can go through. I felt so much sadness in this episode.

Hina, be strong. You're so wonderful. Taiki's words were too much for her to handle. I wish I could've consoled her in place of Ayame. Props to Taiki for being a brave boy and being honest with his feelings, finally. The episode was beautifully directed.

We lost, Hina-nation. T-T

@VMPrecoma I generally agree here. For the most part this series had elevated itself from the masses by how it handled the emotions and thought processes. However, these past episode dragged the love-triangle too much for me and put too much focus on the usual BS (delays, bait and switch etc.) we have seen a million times and I'm tired of. So much so, the ending of this episode caught me by surprise when Taiki actually pushed through Hina's attempts to silence him. This took a lot of courage for Taiki and I'm glad the author decided to not delay this suffering (of Hina and myself) any longer. It's hard for Hina right now but it's so important to get a clear "no" in the terrible downwards spiral she was catching herself in. It's still heart-breaking to see the initial reaction but I still felt relieved and glad for Hina (and Taiki and the whole story I suppose).

It was mature of Taiki to do this. He didn't want her to be strung along. Even though I understand how a teenager like Hina would feel, the desperation of having your crush reciprocate your feelings, the truth is, you can't change who a person likes.

@Miragee Your take is spot on - the delays and bait & switches of the past 4-6 episodes distracted from the show's more mature elements and got too predictable. I wish the rejection happened ep. 18ish, allowing viewers to spend more time developing Chinatsu's character - which has been neglected among all the love-triangle drama.
I do hope we see more of Hina though, especially to see her reflect and learn. Though I was genuinely rooting for Hina (rip), Taiki was right about the status quo being unhealthy for both of them. Though Hina's campaign was fun in the moment, it sounded like by the end that she was too caught up in her head and was enjoying the high of catching Taiki off guard more than really enjoying him.

Nothing wrong in a real world sense of what happened. Taiki did the right thing by not keeping Hina hanging on...
But still, as a viewer, the rest of the show is going to be entirely him chasing after the bland, uninteresting girl now? *Sigh*

It was long overdue, but Taiki finally rejected Hina. My heart breaks for her and the insert song certainly didn't help in making my heart wrench, but man, I'm so glad he finally did it. As always, the episodes centered in Hina's POV are the best. The execution was beautiful, and her reaction was a lot more intense than I'd expected. Seeing her in denial was sad, and while her reaction wasn't mature, it definitely hit hard. She feels like so much more of a relatable character compared to Chinatsu.

Finally, rest in peace Taiki x Hina. I was hoping that this chapter was good and yes, it was very good, I like how author put so much focus on the feelings and emotions and make right choices and mature decitions for the MC, maybe this could happen earlier, but after the theater moment with Snow White and the Prince, this training camp was the right moment to dump Hina IMO.
I just hope they renew for a second season, very nice things are coming

Man this was a sad episode and a really beautiful episode at that. I can't remember when was the last time I watched such a high quality romance anime that I won't forget after 2 days. Characters are not one dimensional, they have personality and are likeable. I love every side character too. It's just a beautiful, by the book romance anime with a bit of sports mixed in and I love it. 9/10 from me and I'm very sad it has only one episode left.

And I forgot to ask if there will be possibly more seasons or is this story completed after 25th episode if any manga reader would be kind enough to answer without spoiling anything.
