Man, this episode went from adorably innocent to tears quickly.

Kou is the hero this anime deserves this season though. He's just been such a strong figure for others. I do hope Nene can mature more cause she's still very childish this season imo.

Yea manga readers wasn’t lying when they said this ep would break me. Wow what an episode. Peak TBHK.

“He’s not so bad. I like him” LETS GOOO HANANENE NATION WE HAVE ARRIVED 😭 that stargazing scene was so fucking cute omg I love them so much. Amane is 1000 percent hanako and just trying to live a normal life in this dream world like Mitsuba. He’s the one who suggested it to Mitsuba so no way he’d lose his memories too lol. “Let’s run away together to the real world” ok Nene I see you, secure your man!

Mitsuba and Minamoto’s fight was so damn sad man. You can feel all the pain in Mitsuba voice and his desire to just live a normal life after seeing what he had before he died.. but this isn’t the way to go about it. It’s all a fictional perfect world in which everything happens the way you want it to. That’s not life. Life is full of ups and downs and complications and that’s what makes it special. Minamoto being willing to die and be with Mitsuba forever is so sweet 😭 idc that’s a confession in my books.

“I’m going to get you out of here” ahh what an ending, can’t wait to see how they break out of the painting!

You can see how much Minamoto trust Mitsuba to directly fall from the window to his death knowing he would do something to prevent it, that was nice to see both duo speaking together to resolve this world issue and it seems like they'll be able to be back to the original world next time

Kou doesn't need to suicide to make Mitsuba understand, a kiss works much better in this situation.

I guess Hanako was the real one after all, it did seem odd that Mitsuba and Tsukasa knew they were in a fake world but Hanako didn’t, that really was a masterful scene when Nene figured him out, basically a confession too which was very sweet. I also loved Hanako’s comparison of the star Antares to being a ghost, I’m not the most knowledgeable on astronomy but that was a metal description, it is pretty insane that we could be looking at long dead stars because of how light travels.

But as good as that scene was, it was nearly overshadowed by that amazing confrontation between Kou and Mitsuba, what an absolute rollercoaster. You have Mitsuba who just wants to live like the real version of him did, and this fake world is the only way it can happen, and then there’s Kou who can’t be satisfied by a fake world no matter how good it seems, because it’s simply not real. Both arguments are completely understandable which makes the situation hurt worse, but man the way it ended was absolutely peak, I don’t use that word often because I feel it’s overused, but if there was a time to use it, this is it, Kou being so dedicated that he’d throw his own life away to prove he will help Mitsuba and then being saved instead… man it’s so good lol.

And the wild part is we aren’t even done with this arc yet, I think I should be thanking Shijima for creating this fake world so we could get all these amazing moments at this point lol.

what a super cute episode from top to bottom. just filled with love.

Amane is a bit pessimistic when it comes to Antares however. It's got a good million years left before it goes supernova.

This is the type of content I needed more in S1.

Still, what is the stance of Nanamine senpai in all of this? (Not another day of me ranting about a favorite side character being an anime-only)

Nene and Kou each trying to convince their respective ghosts to return to the real world. After visiting the painting girl they know what must be done at least according to her. There's no way that they could kill Hanako and Mitsuba, even if it meant going home the act would destroy them. So I'm glad they're each vehemently not even considering that option. Nene talking with Hanako on the roof about his ghost self. I knew he was aware of what's going on! Nene flushed him right out talking about her feelings for Hanako back in the real world. He'd tried acting cool up until now but Nene went for the heart and Hanako couldn't help but react. She has to convince him to help her get out of this painting. Kou meanwhile is trying to convince Mitsuba and it's going horribly. Mitsuba adamant about staying in this world even if its fake. Seeing his other self be neglected and alone solidified this Mitsuba wanting to stay. Its hard to see but Kou is still right about them needing to leave. This world isn't real, even if its easier its not reality. Kou and Nene gotta work hard to breakout.

I was getting worried back there that the end game would be Nene and Kou dying just to be together with them, but I guess that's still on the cards for Nene, and her spending eternity with Hanako.

Such arcs always make me ask whether the author is going to revive Hanako and Mitsuba at the end of the story.

@massyyl Yeah. Fandom Wiki even mentions that she first appeared in the 7th chapter of manga.

@massyyl I mean, I am an anime-only and she still is one of my favs despite the lack of screentime or arcs.

I kinda stand with Mitsuba, like does it really matter if they're living in a fake world as long as they're happy? Kinda reminds me of Naruto's Mugen no Tsukuyomi. I don't understand why they always hate the idea

It’s a localisation thing. It’s clear what she meant if you speak Japanese as well as the context clues like her touching his face.

The visual gag at the start with Tsukasa pushing Nene to stab Hanako really got me 😂.

Such a lovely episode. The star gazing scene was beautiful!! I am a little confused though if Hanako is aware of things or not?

And the Mitsukou scene 🥺. Kou is too good for this world we don't deserve him. I'm so glad Mitsuba saved him. The willingness to die with him so they could understand eachother again and Mitauba wouldn't be alone 🥺🥺 have some more self preservation Kou!! lol but it was very touching♡. I truly hope they slowly become friends again.

- Nene and Hanako's alternative reality -> Fluffy rom-com with slight drama.
- Kou and Mitsuba's alternative reality -> Angsty soap opera with supernatural elements and BL undertones.

Man, I know I'm clearly in the minority here but goddamn is Mitsuba annoying as hell. They should have let Teru exorcise the shit outta him a couple episodes ago.
