And here ends the Boiled arc on a disappointing note - damn, they really made this fight a complete ass. More lore drop, nothing to be wow'ed about which seems to be a recurring element in this serviceable adaptation.

No worries, the next nth episode is gonna be priority /s

That was underwhelming, the little beat down sequence and the explosion were pretty well animated tho. I knew that there wouldn’t be any stellar animation for this fight judging from the trailers, so maybe that’s why I’m not disappointed.

I don’t know what to say. I am not saying I had that much hope but man... I really recommend anyone to just read the manga because the fight is just badly adapted imho.

Let me atleast say one acceptable thing was the OST.

Anyways back to the main point, the wife finds out about the bounty. Sakamoto gets an ear full. A messy dinner though lol. And an introduction to the main threat of the series.

I have to say this though: Anyone saying this is good animation or adaptation really need to either reevaluate their priorities or stop the cap. “Let them cook” only to get the whole kitchen burned. I am done hearing defenders defending this… This is so disrespectful for the manga in many levels. They literally made a png frame lock moment when they were flying into the wheel…

It was ass. Not talking animation, just general episode direction and editing being completely nonsensical and impact-less. It was like they didn't know how to transition each panel of the manga to an anime format with continuous movement.

I recommend just reading the manga at this point if they can't even adapt Boiled vs Sakamoto correctly, then there is literally no use for this adaptation. I waited 4 weeks for this to happen and so excited to see what they'd do with this fight but they didn't do shit.

Fight was definitely quick.. but I feel like I’m the only one who liked the episode. Nice ending to the boiled mini-arc and set up for this new hit-man assassin plot-line.

The fact this is a series about fucking hitman and the most intimidating person here is Sakamoto’s wife is so funny to me. Boiled was such a bad ass just a few mins ago and now he’s bowing down to Mrs. Sakamoto promising not to kill her husband lmao

“How can he still be so strong after he quit being a hitman” form is temporary, class is permanent my boy. Even without his wife being around, I don’t think Boiled would want smoke with Sakamoto again 😂

So we finally meat the order and that bride character I’ve seen so much art of on twitter! I always thought she had Hayamin written all over her. Perfect casting. Blonde dude seemed like the voice of reason in the room and next thing I know he cutting up someone for putting onions in his risotto lmao.

Love the idea of random assassins just walking into the shop every hour or so to make a name for themselves and take out Sakamoto, only to get their asses beat lol.

I like this show a lot, might not have insane production values, but it has that same sort of comfy vibe Yozakura and spy x family had.

Another enjoyable episode. Hard Boiled lost the fight but we became bros again with him. But, we also had to tell everything to Aoi and she's prepared for everything. We also saw some members of the Order and the threat that's looming over them. Nagumo is a funny dude.

A lot of assassins have been dying and Sakamoto needs to be careful as well. Also, Info sure is expensive. LOL. But, hey they're prepared and doing their best, even Hana patching up those guys through bandages. LOL. Cute.

@IzanaSolos Yea dosen't do manga panels justice , just check the panel of the image you posted in manga ver .

Anyways , I was kinda disappointed with Sakamoto vs Hard boiled , But they nailed the intro of The Order And X so Its a 7/10 again . Ost was so good especially in the Order intro

Aoi did make it clear she'd rather have the hit attempts get dealt with openly and directly as opposed to everyone being sneaky around her but having Hana personally hand out bandaids to the failed assassins is wild.

And yo, what's wrong with onions?

I was expecting a bit more intensity in this first major fight, it was all over very quickly but it was still an enjoyable episode. I don't know how Sakamoto and Boiled's fight will be in the manga, but I guess they prefer to adapt more critical battles for the story.

Aoi telling Sakamoto off was funny. Even someone as tough as Boiled blanched at her. No wonder she's the wife of a legendary assassin. Sakamoto is so afraid of being scolded that he would rather tell his spoda and face the problem of the X-Killers than keep secrets from Aoi.

Now is the time to train for Sakamoto and the others. Although I doubt Lu's liver can withstand that kind of training, at least Hana will comfort the assassins than her father.

I gotta go on that Sakamoto diet. Just punch the bad guys until your own fat is afraid of you.

That talk with the wife was very much needed. I thought she was going to stay dumb the whole time and never catch on to the hits on Sakamoto. If we're lucky, maybe she'll relax the no-kill policy and Sakamoto won't have to thread the needle on guys' arteries any more. This upcoming guy looks like a huge threat, but you have to wonder why there are so many assassins in the first place.

Yeah the fight in the anime is not moving me
Too much slo mo
1 to 1 colored manga panels in the first half of just impact frames
I failed to see how this elevates my fav manga when the Animation barely adds to the experience in the Manga if this how later fights look than this will be a very underwhelming adaptation
There was SOME action choreography in the middle but the whole punch to the ferris wheel was just a PNG shot to it
Maybe I just don't think the director is a good fit

Sakamoto’s bare-knuckle fight against Boiled was awesome, even with the animation flaws. The boss lady found out everything and put everyone in their place 😂😂😂 Things are getting interesting with this assassin war. I actually liked the first 4 episodes and was optimistic that the fight animation would go up as the anime continues. But I was wrong, The fight in this episode was underwhelming, now I see why the manga readers were complaining so much. The fight between Sakamoto and Boiled was looking like key frames with added effects, and the scene where they crash-land in the Ferris wheel is like two dummy characters just flying through without any movement just like the Uzumaki episode where the characters are falling down the lighthouse without any movement. But hey the OST was good tho.

This episode.... Kinda hurts.

Granted I will give the benefit of the doubt the middle was fine but the end was not it. It felt like they adapted it far too closely making it look bland as you should just read the manga at that point. Blue lock and sakadays getting mid adaptations with hints of above average moments really stinks

*Sigh* The main reason why I hoped to death that a studio like Bones, Wit, or Production IG (to name a few) would be selected to adapt this was because I just knew that if this adaptation received subpar animation from a mid-tier studio, that would be literally the only thing you'll ever hear regarding the series. Like yes people we're 5 episodes in we get that the animation isn't very good 😂 and let me emphasize, before some smartass quotes me, I'm NOT saying yall can't complain, this is an animated medium of entertainment after all so of course we all want the best animation possible. But constantly pointing out that the animation wasn't good isn't gonna magically change anything. For me personally I'm just taking this for what it is at this point, that makes it easier to still enjoy the show despite the flaws.

Anyway, yea the Sakamoto vs Boiled fight wasn't as good as it could/should have been, but I still enjoyed the episode for moving the plot forward. Seeing more Order members, especially muh wifey Osaragi, was dope, and we finally got our first glimpse at X. Quite a sinister introduction that's for sure.

@thebrentinator24 Although I like the overall plot and character development Sakamoto Days is an action heavy series first and foremost. The animation and directing of the fight sequences will always be its main appeal, and in that case a massive disappointment that needs to be called out.

Wait, it wasn't an illusion? Sakamoto ACTUALLY got thinner? And he became fatter in just a day too. That guy isn't human. Because where does his mustache go after he becomes skinny?

Sakamoto vs Hard-Boiled fight was much shorter than I expected, especially after how hyped it was. Probably the first time I felt disappointed by this anime.

Aoi found out about what's going on with Sakamoto. He's lucky she let him off the hook this time.

So, there really is more to Sakamoto's bounty. That's actually interesting. Let's see where the plot goes now.

Do yourself a favor and read the manga instead. There is no way someone tells me with a straight face that they adapted this fight well. I can't believe people thought they'd put more effort into the priority episodes.

Also this adaptation has production issues with the amount of KA's you see and AD's. @nextfurther on twitter even pointed out that the fourth episode of SD was done to a "certain extent" for the SB and layout.

Even the hardcore defenders are whining on twitter, reddit etc. This just shows how underwhelming it is.

Ngl the conclusion of the fight with Boiled was a bit of a letdown.

Still overall I enjoyed the episode, it's crazy how if Sakamoto would've just told Aoi about the hitmen she would've been ok with him handling it. Though based on him using the taser when the infiltrated the Dankeni (sp?) building.

Of course, Sakamoto gained all the weight back, but I think it's cool that he slims down when he gets ready to really kick some ass.

@IzanaSolos

Lmao bro, you're the type of guy that can't form an opinion on his own seeing how you always try to please both sides.

"Would really love to know where those "doesn't do the manga panel justice" twats are at because this was ACTUALLY just manga panels colored lmao."
Let's start with Boiled's clothes, do they not look way too clean after a whole fight? compare it to the manga where his shirts ACTUALLY torn. He also sits completely straight compared to the manga where it looks like he is about to give out. (i'm talking about the part where he is lighting his cigarrete which is actually THE panel). There ain't even any bruises or anything on Boiled Man besides from his face which doesn't even look good.

Sakamoto's expression and demeanor in general are completely different. It looks like he is bored staring down at his chest while in the manga he has a death stare that kinda sums up that he is still cautious.

Fyi, you didn't even screenshot the right panel that everyone is talking about lmao. Seems like you don't even know what you're talking about. Just keep trying to post as fast as you can, seems like a job of yours.

It was pretty close, there were more bruises and the lighting was obviously better being in black and white.

I enjoyed the episode and music, I'm not an animation fiend. Episode 5 was well paced, we got a lot of progression and world building. I'd say it was the best one so far

Is it just me or is the pacing going a bit too fast?

Like I get that the battle animation was good and that the JAA is going after Sakamoto with his bounty but the way that in the span of a few episodes Lu professes fraternal love towards her new family, how Sakamoto loses and gains weight, all the hitmen changing hearts after being beaten, how quickly they found the hideout and having all of the above and the small training montage in the same episode didn't let anything breathe propely. I'm guessing they are tied with the deadline and number of episodes. Maybe the manga is like this as well, who knows.
