The 12th and final episode of the new Ranma ½ television anime ended with a second season announcement on Sunday. Hiromi Taniguchi, the character designer for the new anime, drew an illustration to commemorate the announcement (pictured above).

Produced by MAPPA, the new anime series adapting Rumiko Takahashi's romantic comedy manga began airing on October 6. Netflix streamed the anime with subtitles worldwide.

Weekly Shounen Sunday serialized the manga from August 1987 to February 1996. Shogakukan published the manga in 38 volumes between April 1988 and June 1996 and later released it in two new editions in 2002–2003 and 2016–2018.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English and released 21 volumes from May 1993 to March 2003. In May 2003, the company began publishing a second edition and released the 36th and final volume in November 2006. VIZ Media also released a 2-in-1 omnibus edition between March 2014 and March 2017.

Synopsis
During their martial arts training expedition in China, Ranma Saotome and his father Genma suffered an accident, which in turn, afflicted them with a curse—whenever they are doused with cold water, Ranma transforms into a girl, while his father turns into a panda! Only hot water can reverse these changes, but any further contact with cold water opens the can of worms once more.

Unfortunately, the trouble does not end there, as Ranma finds out about his betrothal to one of the daughters of Soun Tendou, his father's closest friend. During the families' first meeting, it is decided that Ranma is to be married to Akane, the youngest daughter, a decision that is met with vehement protests from both sides. The two are simply not compatible, yet they are forced to live under one roof. Ranma's status quo further adds to the chaos, leading him to a series of comedic situations and misunderstandings that, in the grand scheme of things, may just be what he needs to work with Akane. It will probably air sometime next year. Most likely, Summer 2025 because of the TV timeslots being booked for the next 6 months, but let's see when it airs.

But, Can't wait for S2. It was so wholesome and funny.

No surprises there. The first season didn't skip any chapters, and adapted the events in order, so they've done a good job so far. Hopefully the second season continues the job. Hoping for a complete adaptation that adapts all the chapters eventually, and not skipping any chapters.

Thought they'd continue on and make it like 100 plus episode season but guess not. Are they not gonna remake everything? Gonna be a lot of seasons, is all I can think if they do this. I dropped this series but this is just what a thought I had.

If they still skip the nudity then there's now way I'll support this adaptation either. Good opportunity to rewatch the original season 2 though. ^^
