Publishing company Hakusensha announced a television anime adaptation of Tachibana Higuchi's Champignon no Majo (Champignon Witch) manga on Friday. Higuchi drew an illustration to commemorate the announcement (pictured).

Higuchi began drawing the adventure fantasy manga on the Manga Park app and website in October 2019, nearly 6.5 years after she concluded Gakuen Alice. Hakusensha published the fifth volume last July, with the sixth volume going on sale on December 20.

Synopsis
Deep within the Black Forest teeming with poisonous mushrooms, a witch named Luna lives alone. With skin that is poisonous to the touch and a breath that will kill if close enough, she is forced to stay secluded from nearby civilization. Even with these conditions, Luna still visits a nearby city to deliver medicine and buy new books to read.

Despite Luna having never done harm to any of the city's residents, many are scared to associate with her, as she is a black witch in a kingdom ruled by white witches. Only able to watch from a distance while people receive her medicine and freely converse with one another, Luna is drawn toward their lives, even if it sometimes means putting herself in danger. Discrimination against black witches as dangerous and hostile in a kingdom ruled by white witches? Interesting timing was chosen by those who gave the green light to the adaptation of this manga.

@Lucifrost Exciting news! Definitely going to check it out! Still hoping for Alice Gakuen comeback, but right now I'm happy with this.

I read the first volume, and I can’t believe this is getting an anime adaptation. Seriously? Wow.

@Lucifrost
On a different note, I also have plans, so if you have time to comment on the forum, please reply to my message.
