Another invasion plot? Man, this season just loves conquests.

Tense episode too with Ars dealing with the military. Even though his skills got a little crazy this episode, he handled this in the best way he could. Using words and not violence...it seems Ars was born to do this.

@Stark700 What's wrong with a little conquest?

Finally some tension and it looks like the things might actually get dangerous next episode. Was afraid that the whole season would be about OP allies defeating/outsmarting enemies with Ars looking at that in awe.

He doesn't look it, but it's pretty obvious Ars is growing up now. Nerves of steel.

No Charlotte this week, still a good episode :/ Despite this being mainly talk no jutsu, this whole ep was tense as hell. For the first time Ars didn’t have anyone to lead negotiations but him and he knocked it out the park. Way to read the room literally and see Lupa had a kid on the way and a wife

Next week is gonna be even crazier though. Going into Castle Rolto to get Lupa’s wife out alive is no small task and for someone as battle hardened as he is to even talk about it like it’s a foregone conclusion that they die shows the odds.

Proud of Ars for growing up so fast 🙏🏾

Negotiations were in Ars’s favor and that’s awesome. I know he and his party would be able to save Lupa’s wife from Castle Rolto.

Still a totally different story than the LN, but at least they covered the evolution of his appraisal skill and he finally showing the backbone he showed in the LN.

So a definite improvement

Watching Licia at the start was funny.
The amount of food and drink Charlotte & Mirielle consume is quite something.
Ah so it was an evolution of the appraisal ability, hence the name of the episode.
Ars can do it without Licia, that was great awareness of the information he was given.

I have ADD, ADHD & AUTISM, but this won't stop me. Let's keep having fun together.

Ars Louvent is one of the most frustrating main characters I’ve come across. Mireille has to break down basic concepts and explain the thought process behind their negotiations. It’s as if he lacks even the simplest understanding.

In every situation, he has one of three reactions: he’s either shocked, scared, or amazed.

Despite supposedly being an adult before reincarnating, he behaves more like a naive bystander than a leader.

There’s been no real development in his character since Season 1.

Meanwhile, other characters get moments to shine and grow. But Ars’ growth, if there’s any, is minimal at best.

If he showed even a fraction of the growth the supporting cast has, the show would be much stronger.

@Marinate1016 Don't want to post spoilers, but there are two things:

  1. LN's are very basic compared to the anime - the anime provides a lot more detail.
  2. The details of the storyline start to veer about one third of the way through s1, and it just keeps going firther away. At this point, there are multiple characters in the anime that are not even in the LN, and most of the main keypoints of the story are completely different.
  3. The storyline has veered so far off the LN's that it's essentially an OVA at this point.
  4. That being said, I've heard that the manga also has a far greater amount of detail than the LN, and while it's non-standard to develop an anime off of a manga when an LN exists, they may have done that this time

Hope that helps

Goddam, now Ars has evermore pertinent information added to his appraisal skill. Nice! It looks like he’s putting it to good use in no time. I’m glad to see him taking a more proactive approach and making some bold moves. He’s a lot more motivated now that he has to protect not only his subjects but also his wife, Licia. This is getting good! Also, watching Licia gushing over Ars's accomplishments was so cute. 🥰🥰

That’s crazy so are the characters that aren’t in the books just not exist in the books or are they being introduced out of order? And same with the events are they just being done out of order or is it pure anime original content being added?

Sounds like it’s actually one of the best adaptations ever then lol

good episode, glad to see his power is evolving because the standard appraisal was getting boring.

Ars did a great job negotiating with Lupa, and that new evolution in his analysis ability opens up a whole range of possibilities. Now, he needs to rescue Lupa’s wife. They could also consider recruiting that inventor—those mechanical birds could be made explosive, which would make him a valuable ally.

This is so disappointing. Ars childlike demeanor made me forgot he was an adult in his past life. He gets flustered easily and has always shown his weak sides. In a true negotiation he wouldn't be respected and this time it only worked because of a convenient evolution of his abilities and the commander is conveniently vulnerable. With episode 5 this anime has turned into bad things that just worked out because of plot.

The people complaining about Ars being useless are going to have a hard time to continue if this arc continues as expected. Any "superhuman" stuff about him was just windowdressing in this episode, it was all about observation skills, intellect and guts.

I liked the more detective-like deduction this episode, and it was cool to see the appraisal skill used that way!

Excited for the "wife rescue" and hopefully more plots incorporating the appraisal skill 🕵️

What a bad situation Lupa is in. I hope they will be able to save the wife of Lupa, and if possible, everyone else's wives too!

Interesting that Ars' skill evolved and now he can get background info on the characters he appraises such as if they're married and such, and it came in the nick of time as he walked into a likely ambush. However, the leader of the fort has pleaded for Ars to save his wife and I'm sure he'll be happy to join Ars' side if he's successful.
