The 1st season was a massive success and gained praises early on. But season 2 started with low ratings. I haven't watched the first episode yet. Should I start?

Edit: Watched the first one. People were down voting it in the beginning without even watching. Such childish behaviour.

If an anime hasn't received that many scores yet its rating won't yet reflect the rating it will eventually get because of how it's weighted. In a few hours it will probably have an 8+ https://myanimelist.net/info.php?go=topanime

No, it hasn't. I just watched the first episode. It starts right where it left.

The season only started about 3 hours ago, the score will grow over time as more episodes come out and people start rating the show

We are only one episode in, and a lot of people dont usually rate shows/seasons until theyre a good way through, give it time

Season 2 feels like the same quality as Season 1.

Very few people rated it right now. The weighted score adds 100 votes corresponding to the global mean (6.5) to every anime, just to prevent obscure stuff from reaching the top 100.

For example, an anime rated 8.1 by 200 users would have a weighted score of (8.1x200+6.5x100)/(200+100)=7.57

Moreover, keep in mind that when a second season comes out just a year after the first, it's because they were both planned from the start exactly like split cours; it's not like a sequel that comes out 4+ years later with a mostly different animation staff. I wouldn't expect much difference in terms of production value.

Give it the 3 eps test and determine if it's worth your time yourself.

Please don't make threads about MAL scores, especially within minutes of the first episode airing - it often takes about a day to settle on a stable number, and weeks for that to solidify

Why don't watch yourself and make your own conclusion?

Don't be a influenciable person type, even more so if you loved the first season.

nope. in my eyes its still same.
i give 7/10 for animation.
and story 9/10.
i just borred with 2.5D creature in 2D fighting scene, lack of frame rate.
of course its all about budget, and i cannot complaint.
but i hope fighting scene at vol.15 all made by hand.

It is not. There's multiple sources out there to show it isn't.

@Oongbuh then why they still use 2.5D technique ? time limit ?
