I know Steins Gate is very popular and here it's recommended to death, and with good reason, it's great. Yet no one talks about the "sequel". I wasn't a fan of SG0 and I was wondering what do you guys think about it.

It was the sequel I never new I needed. It rapped up the plot and I got the see the phinix return and show us that even space time is nothing in front of him so yeah it was amazing.

It was fine until the last 7 episodes, all the Climax and final was garbage, but at least se got more daru and his particular way to be that I think its the only thing that keep the series to be worse

Not as good as the og in terms of anime or deja vu movie, but it was a solid 8.

It has strong elements, but a certain character and the choppy finale action kinda bogged it down. VN felt better.

I loved it even more than the OG, but that was probably because I read the manga instead of watching the anime or reading the VN. But in general I think this is a great "sequal" and definetly worth a watch.

I think Steins Gate 0 is a 9/10 whereas the original series is a 10/10. It's not bad but the original will always be better imo

Promised Rinascimento branch of the VN > anime > Vega & Altair branch of the VN

The original S;G was easy to adapt, just ignore the alternate endings and it's a pretty linear story. The same wouldn't work for S;G 0, so they decided to make a mix of the various routes of the VN. A great idea on paper since the anime ended up being the "true ending" route we never saw in its entirety in the VN, the issue is that only one of the two main branches was as good as the original S;G: Promised Rinascimento includes the best moments of 0 (like
), whereas Vega & Altair is generally weaker and it also has a very dumb plot twist that the anime luckily couldn't adapt.

So, I love 0 anyways but the original is much better (if we talk about the adaptation, also in terms of animation and directing).

I like S;G more then Zero but the later explores the characters especially Okabe, Mayuri more. Also I like Fatima more than Hacking to the Gate and S;G0's final scene (with Gate of Steiner playing in background) is my most favourite scene in all anime.

100% my opinion as well. Did it need to exist, no. Am I glad it does, very much so.

I like the bits exploring the future path that exists. But it has some very easy to see character reveals.

SG0 got an 8/10 from me. It's just a tiny bit better than the "good, not great" shows I put in the 7s. First half is pretty weak but the second half almost makes up for it. Almost. It's hard to forgive the writing for retreading and weaponizing the emotional core of SG1 the way it does.

It really cant hold a candle to the original which is an easy 10/10 and is one of if not THE single best anime I've ever seen.

I liked it, although I have to say I just wanted to get it over with...

That's because I watched it in chronological (?) order, where you have to switch to S;G0 exactly when shit hits the fan near the end in S;G.

It was excruciating, but very much worth it, since S;G0 fits really well into S;G.

I really think that 0 is better than the original since 0 develops a lot more others characters than the MC

Oh yeah for sure, it's even wayyy better than the visual novel, since it takes one of the many under utilized plot points that worked in the visual novel and massively expanded them in the anime.
The story is also less disjointed since it mostly focuses on Okabe's perspective rather than jumping between each character's perspective every 10 minutes.

Slightly weaker than the original SG as around the middle nothing really happens but it's highs are just as if not slightly higher than the original show

People tend to forget (or rather not know) that this anime is supposed to be a sequel to its own visual novel (as in, the S;G Zero visual novel), instead of just an adaptation of it, as officially stated by its creators.
Confusing maybe.
If you rate it like that though, it was done incredibly well.
Too bad that tidbit was never brought to the attention of people.

As a standalone, without reading the visual novel, the anime just ends up confusing, with way too much information for the runtime, with weird pacing, failing to balance the slice of life comedy with the dark parts of the story, and a bit too much suspension of disbelief. Well imo anyway.

If we were to fairly judge it, then we would have to overlook all of that until reading the six visual novels needed for full context to that point of the story... Most people wouldn't even know about the rest of the Science Adventure Series existing, much less have the time to read all of it.

I think it was fine. The biggest problem was making a show without the best character of the show.

A lot of Steinsgate's appeal comes from the relationship between Kurisu and Okabe. Taking her out was tragic from a narrative perspective but I feel like nobody was able to fill in these shoes.

And after a while the show kinda lost it's plot with some goofy action scenes too.

imo steins gate 0 added a cherry on top to the original (which was already a masterpiece) and made it even better. When I watched the original I didn't know I needed steins gate 0 but now that I've seen it I'm so glad I watched it. I'm off to play the VNs now! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧

I actually enjoyed it more compared to the first season.
I really enjoyed the even darker tone and new cast of characters.
I understand that stein's gate 0 opened a lot of time travel plotholes and stuff.
But for me stein's gate as a whole is more about it's characters and their stories rather than the science of time travel.
The struggles of okabe and trying to continue life after truly losing his lover is just so compelling and thought provoking for me.

That's just me though.
