Just for the record I'm not saying it's bad or enjoyable for some people, I just feel like for me it was too slow and not much going on for at least 6 EPs which considering that's half the anime feels like it's not worth the time to finish it if anyone can explain to me what's going on and if the later episodes started to progress with the romance side of things I might continue to watch it, thanks all

this show is about the characters making sense of their true feelings and how it evolves overtime, there's a big romantic plot point in ep 9

Can’t say it does, it has one episode left and the most that happened was therapy, not very eventful

No offense, but saying that "nothing happens" just shows that you are not paying attention, because character growth and development is so obvious, it's almost hamfisted in the face. Just because there is no abundance of overused clichés and comic relief doesn't change that.

I'm just wondering how they will wrap this up so it can have somewhat satisfying ending? As much as I have liked this show, I don't think we will have second season.

I hope we get a second season. If we don't then all the slow buildup will mean nothing.

subtext. subtext. subtext

There's so much in the visuals if you pay attention to them. Also, these characters, when seen by others from afar, would seem to be living a boring, drama-free life. But us viewers having access to some of their inner thoughts, especially through Saki's diary, there is so much dramatic tension going on.

Again, I won't stop saying it until you tattoo this on your dick: subtext, subtext, subtext.

It’s not going to change radically into some spicy fast paced romcom in ep 7, if you don’t enjoy it, don’t force yourself. I personally love the realism of pace and the wonderful lighting and artistic use of locations but that’s not for everyone.

If you go to the series page and then to the LN page you can find discussion on the later light novel's plot elements. If you want to be spoiled.

what do you mean? I think it will have a second season. There's still 2 partially-unrevealed characters. one for saki and one for asamura.

The show feels pretty consistent in tone and pace, so I don't think there's anything drastic past Episode 6 that will win you over.

I really don't want to oversell Episode 9 like most people here are doing. It's.. something, but compared to most standard romance anime it's barely anything.

There's only one episode left at this point, and while it could kick it up a notch, I'm doubtful.

The only thing that feels off for me is the animation:

People cant walk properly, i.e. seeing ankles being dragged along the floor in slow motion... nobody walks that slow all the time.

And the animation of facial expressions is just lazy. The seiyuu put in emotion in their performance, but all we see are static faces with a few mouth movements...

The story has been adapted rather faithfully from the novel, imo.

The whole thing is extremely stupid.

This forced drama with them thinking they are brother and sister. Just no. Any human being with more than 2 neurons would consider the fact that these are 2 non blood related young adults who never met each other before. If anything this girl was likely to appear pregnant lol
And asking a young adult male to see Ayase as his mom. Come on. If he was a 5 years old kid, sure. But at that age. That's so ridculous.
The anime basically revolves around nothing. This author (and people who give this high notes) got some serious mental issues.

This is the kind of show that if you watch the first episode, an episode right in the middle, and the final episode, you miss absolutely nothing and is a better experience than wasting time watching the whole thing.

Also, I'm kinda angry the Frieren actress is here wasting her time lol.

I think it’s sweet that the stepmom wants to be closer to her stepson and Ayase is trying so hard to make her mom happy that she’s willing to put aside her feelings. I think it’s kind of the point that they are strangers so it’s an ethical question whether or not they should be together. And I guess we’ll see which choice they make.

Bro it's definitely alot faster than LN, and they are skipping alot of useless stuffs. The thing is it's a new perspective to story, the writer is trying to make it as real as possible, think for sec, anyone will think before starting something which is considered taboo, they will face alot of difficulties and will hesitate to take steps.
