Final Hikari sweetness :(

Mochizuki and Hiromu's first meeting ended in failure due to Mochizuki's sudden heat. Although Hiromu momentarily reacted to Mochizuki's Omega pheromones, he managed to control himself and remain composed. Mochizuki, learning for the first time that Masaki was in an interspecies marriage, decided to protect Masaki and announced he would no longer meet Hiromu before leaving.

It had then been a whole week that had passed without any contact. Meanwhile, Masaki promised Hikari to tell Michiru that they should play together because they love each other, but he worried about never meeting again. In that moment of uncertainty, Hiromu gently reached out to him.

A rather sweet anime, all Omegaverse things considered lol.

Masaki feeling bad that he has lost a fellow friend like Mochizuki, but with Hiromu comforting him and not giving a care about the world except his own wife, that's what matters a lot to him. And despite the prejudice that he may have, the same with Mochizuki reacting naturally afflicted from an Alpha like Hiromu, Masaki now only understood that family means the world to him, and that he can repair his relationship with another Omega, something which the kids must be steered cleared of any possible conflict. And the happenstance of coincidence of meeting Mochizuki with Michiru, the mother-son Beta pairing does faze him, but not quite as extreme as the Fujiyoshis. Yuki being in the know of the conflict between Masaki and Hiromu enough to understand Omegas like the former, being taught by Matsuo, he wants to also be understanding in his own way.

Mozhizuki giving Yuki's process some thought, and it turned out to be bodily pressures that he could not overcome, that caused him to act like before. With that said, he can't be running from Alphas forever, and as much as Hikari wants to play with Michiru that he fears the worst, the children are evidence enough for the adults to act the way they are, espeically for the Omegas who have it the hardest. And it's thanks to the children that Mochizuki finally caves in to be understanding and be friends once again.

The overcrowded Christmas party where everyone is invited and immediately swooning on the children with gifts and the like, it's a happy community of adults and children.

This BL has been a very fascinating one, thanks to its Omegaverse content, which really speaks a lot.

anime ended where I figured it would, having read the manga. Whether or not it'll get a second season...probably not? There's only 2 more volumes to adapt.

I tend to really dislike Omegaverse BL... 99.99% is it is utter trash lmao. And this is coming from someone who reads a ton of other BL manga...

I guess I find all the "rules" and lore of Omegaverse very frustrating, and well, dumb? When it comes to BL Omegaverse, the f**ked up "caste" system the society has where Omegas are so heavily discriminated against, while Alphas hold no accountability for committing sexual assault against Omegas drives me bonkers. That didn't happen in this anime, since it was pretty tame and vanilla. But it's very common of a theme in most other BL Omegaverse. Like, I get that it's supposed to mirror what women face in society irl? But like why? Why normalize it in Omegaverse, it's just stupid.

Also, this might be a hot take, but I feel like Misaki could have been a woman and it would make no difference to the story or his personality. I mean, the characters referred to him with female pronouns no? Referring to him as the wife instead of husband. I guess to me, he wasn't a gay/queer man. He was just a generic housewife. So I never felt like I was viewing the story of a queer family if that makes sense. Misaki at least got some character development I guess? Meanwhile his husband got zero character development because he's an Alpha I guess? And is perfect with no flaws? So I found him to be very boring.

But despite my griping, the anime was fine. Nothing amazing. Just okay. Since I read so much other BL that's 100000x times better than this, I just find it to be average. But, it's still wild we even got a Omegaverse anime to begin with.

i love how this anime stayed super cute and wholesome all throughout till the end but also how they weren't afraid to touch certain topics that reflect the real world, handling them pretty well. i love this family so so much and how hiro and masaki are just living their lives, dealing with stuff here and there but making sure to love eachother and their kids and always keeping them safe and happy above all. i know there's no much left to adapt from the manga but i would really like a second season or at least an ova, i'm gonna miss them.

What a beautiful episode. Not a single episode disappointed me. I'm really thankful that the first bl omegaverse they adapted was Tadaima, Okaeri and the adaptation was really good too! I love it so much.

I hope this can have a spin-off about Matsuo and Yuuki, volume 4 and 5 was focused on them and it was also very good...

I'll miss Hikarin, Hina-chan, Miccha and everyone.... huhu I'll rewatch this in the near future T__T ♡

That was a nice ending.

Im not sure what to think of the whole thing. All that omegaverse stuff just never really gets fully explained so interpreting actions of characters becomes more difficult than it needs to be sometimes. The good parts are the cute stuff and some of the interpersonal drama but all that omegaverse stuff just has an amateurish feel to it where too many things are kind of stupid and unnecessarily complicated.

Without me even knowing this the previous episode had me getting the impression alphas are abusive to omegas in some way possibly sexual as only way of explaining how afraid Aoto was so i could see that being also the case here. It is confusingly odd for world building. It would make sense they wouldnt hold them accountable due to how their body basically moves on it's own so they are victims too in that sense. What doesnt make sense is why alphas are considered the top caste, wouldnt more people just see them as dangerous not just omegas but betas would too? Basically we were told omegas can be put on meds to suppress their pheromones but then why arent alphas on meds to dull their sense of these pheromones?

For this conflict, I may not be able to fully understand where they are both coming from since their omegaverse setting is very fictional, but I found it sad if the kids' friendship would end because of it. I am glad that it got resolved positively. Yuuki shouting "I'M A BETA!" haha. "Michi! Your father is beautiful!" Yuu and Shuu, do not ignore Aoto... The visitors for the Christmas party are so so many.

@giveup-the-ghost - genuinely curious, from what you have read, what do you think are other BL (or other omegaverse) manga that can likely be picked up for an anime series adaptation? As you said other omegaverse manga are too dark, and the recent anime adaptations are more on the fluffy side.

If I may have a wish, Harenochi Shikibu is very cute and vibrant but I think it may be short ^^;; I haven't started Hidamari ga Kikoeru and Minato Shouji Coin Laundry yet but I hear good things from them and I think the current length is good for a series.

Or it could be just an ordinary BL in a heteronormative/homophobic world, where Masaki is a bit more feminine, so everyone gives him a hard time for this, all the problems with their families because Hiromu chose a man as husband, while everyone wanted him to marry a woman. The kids could be adopted (not a complaint, but they didn't even show the pregnancy anyway, so no difference there). And afterwords, everyone just gradually accepts them and their gay marriage. Like, literally, it would be very easy to showcase all of the conflicts and problems without adding another layer of secondary genders to the mix.

Don't get me wrong, it's a very sweet and cute anime, but Omegaverse plays little to no significance here, other than some buzz words. And maybe a bit of conflict in the last two episodes, but other than that, it does feel very unnecessary.

Overall, I found this show quite odd and hard to watch due to it being so overly sweet and somewhat boring at times.

@Otamegane0988 can't comment on what other Omegaverse could be adapted into anime...I've only been able to handle a few other Omegaverse BL manga, but this was some years ago and my memory is terrible as far as remembering their titles. They were all much more sexually explicit too...

As for other BL anime tv adaptations? One big issue is that a lot of "good" BL I've read is only 1 or 2 volumes. You can't make an 12-episode season from that. And many multi-volume BL manga are much more sexually explicit, and in many cases, you can't cut it alll out lol. We are getting Tasogare Out Focus this summer...It's a multi-volume manga, so there's enough content to adapt into a tv anime.

I also forget we just got Cherry Magic 30 year old virgin wizard or whatever it was fully called LMAO. That was pretty tame. I had never even heard of the manga series before the anime came out. So there's def more multi-volume BL out there that I'm not aware of that could work well for a tv anime adaptation...

@traed "That's just how it is." Its a one-word sentence that can be used to "explain" the lore of Omegaverse. But I'm no Omegaverse expert.

But a lot of people sometimes make up their own rules. So there might be some works of Omegaverse media out there where Alphas also take drugs to suppress their raging hormones. But from what I've understood, the norm is Alphas don't hold any accountability, and the omegas are expected to be on medication and get blamed by society if a alpha sexually assaults them. Kinda like how in irl women are blamed for being sexually assaulted for xyz reasons. But that was my original criticism: why normalize it in fictional media? It be one thing of the author was trying to make some kinda powerful social commentary...but I'd argue it's usually not like that. idk. Omegaverse is just one of those forms of media where you gotta have a "take it or leave it" mentality towards it.

It likely is meant to play on it being wild passionate sex for fetishistic purposes but it's weird it gets mixed in with a darker serious tone at the same time giving conflicting vibes. But oh well, that was outside the view on this show. But it is interesting seeing a lighter take of a fairly dark world that is made clear is the case but happens off screen so i guess a sort of odd silver lining statement that you can be happy in a shitty world if you make a smaller world of your own that is better i guess.
