Before I start my analysis, I will mention two important things beforehand- 1. This analysis is based only on content shown in anime. 2. I will talk about it in a hybrid way of my own opinion and actual objective facts. 3. The analysis will be in 4 parts- General relationship (episode 1-6, 8-11), A twist (episode 7), Actual person? (episode 12) and Conclusion. Let's start. ๐ญ- ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ I will only talk about episodes which are related to this topic so let me point out unrelated episodes beforehand. แดษดสแดสแดแดแดแด แดแดษชsแดแด แดs- ๐น, ๐ป, ๐ผ, ๐พ, ๐ฟ, ๐ท๐ถ, ๐ท๐ท a) Episode 1: As we all know that Sara and Sousuke met in episode 1 when Sara suddenly fell out of portal on Sousuke and then things happened, making Sousuke take Sara to his home where she kind of forced him to let her stay with him. All this time, the way they talked with each other was nowhere close to talk between a child and an adult. Their conversation was like between equals. For example, see the way Sara talked to Sousuke during 1st dinner and compare it with Holo's talk to Lawrence (spice and wolf), there are tons of similarities between these two pairs at this particular event. In same episode Sara helped Sousuke with his detective mission and earned the approval of him to be called his 'partner'. Sousuke himself called her partner first at 22:07 to which she said 'Indeed', she didn't asked him to call her that. So it is not that he was playing along with her wish to be called partner and instead it was genuinely the way he saw her. b) Episode 2: It was mostly Livia focused episode but here were some important points about Sara and Sousuke relationship. When they met Brenda, she said- "๐ ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ด๐ฐ ๐ง๐ข๐ช๐ต๐ฉ๐ง๐ถ๐ญ๐ญ๐บ ๐ฉ๐ข๐ท๐ฆ ๐ข ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฐ๐ณ๐ต ๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ ๐ฎ๐บ ๐ซ๐ฐ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ด. ๐ ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ข๐ฃ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ต ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ", to which Sara said 'wakaru'. In japanese- ็ฅใ(shiru) is used when you gain new information or knowledge. ๅใใ(wakaru) is used when you “understand,” “grasp,” or “comprehend” something. By Sara's wording, it was clear that she didn't found out anything new by Brenda's words, which means she saw Sousuke's retort before too. Now who will he do this with in front of her at that time? Obviously Sara herself. So it means Sara also teased Sousuke frequently. Anyone who have watches Romcom series can see what how teasing is a very common troupe between couples in romcom, I won't elaborate further. In same episode at 21:03, Brenda showed Jealousy with Sara which she tried to cover up but later episodes exposes it all. This further confirms that she also felt Sara and Sousuke relationship as not usual adult-child relationship. c) Episode 4: Between 0:33 to 0:41 at 0:37/0:38, Sara's facial expression turned from surprise to blushing/shy when Sousuke catched her from falling off the skate (check face change between 0:35 and 0:36). The common human brain reaction to getting saved at fall by an 'adult' or a 'parental' figure as some people say, is to be shocked or relived, however Sara was shy. Where else does this happen? Of course romance animes!. ๐ฎ- ๐ ๐ง๐๐ถ๐๐ (๐๐ฝ๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ณ) In episode 7, Sara was adopted by Sousuke. Reading just this might make some people think that there is no chance left for them as a couple, but that's not the case, we will talk about it at the end of point in detail but first let me point out two things from episode. When Sara and Sousuke were talking after Horse Does this conversation looks like between a parent and child? Obviously not. It is straight up out of romcom. In same episode, check Sara's reaction at 22:02 and 22:20, at both times on being mentioned as Sousuke's daughter and him asking if she will be her daughter, Sara's face was clearly doubtful and somewhat needy as in she wanted something else/more. However after thinking a bit she smiles and says yes, this is most likely because she realised the circumstances. It will all make more sense at episode 12 analysis. Finally, continuing what I said at beginning of his point. The reason for adoption was not parent-child feeling toward each other which I already showed in above points, it was solely because Sousuke wanted to fulfil Sara's wish of going to school. In real life (Japan), overturning a legal adoption is very complicated and something not easily granted. However if both the adoptive child and the adoptive parent, after the child is above legal age wants, the overturn is granted. Not only this but there are two more loopholes- • Incest is legal in most of the world including Japan (source wikipedia). So Sara and Sousuke can have a lovers relationship despite being parent-child legally and it will be totally normal by law as long as they both are above age of consent. • Sara was never adopted through 'legal' means, so they can just have those fake documents scraped and the adoption will be overturned. Sousuke's father noticed that Sara is not Sousuke's daughter so in the future he can help them with documents too if Sara/Sousuke ask for help. ๐ฏ- ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป? (๐๐ฝ๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ฎ) In Episode 12, Sara notices Sousuke at 14:56 and was initially shown surprised but just a second later she blows a flying kiss while making a kissing pose by her lips with a wink toward him during her singing. The scene had pink hearts coming out when Sara did this which is an obvious sign of romantic event. The pink hearts just seal the deal. Check meanings of pink heart. It is used to represent love, friendship, and feelings of warmth. In that scene, Sara's actions were definitely not something you do toward your parents but clearly a romance thing. In same episode later on while talking to her friend, on being asked what is her type of guy, Sara mentions the qualities of Sousuke and it was so precisely him that even her friend pointed it out that if she was talking about an actual person. She also confirmed that she is not interested in dating people of same age or younger, making it obvious that she is into age gap romance. ๐ฐ. ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฐ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป- All these points I mentioned clearly shows that Sousuke and Sara shares a 'partner' type relationship with space to evolve into romantic type. And atleast Sara have romantic feelings toward him while his feelings toward her are still ambiguous. At any rate, the relationship between Sara and Sousuke is NOT parent-child as I have seen lot of people trying to convince themselves as. ๐ง๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ธ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด. |

@Weird-but-true I need to get a life? You're the one trying to make this sexual for whatever reason. Sara is literally 12 and in elementary school and Sosuke is in his 30s, how could you possibly say they have a romantic relationship? In reality, you're the one who needs to get a life rather than analyzing something that doesn't exist. You're just a prevented weirdo/pedo, my guy. |

@cooldogmom Ever watched Usagi Drop or Uchi Musume, tourist-kun? This is anime. Lolis are W, cry about it all you want. This won't change anything. Leave anime fandom if you hate it that much. Also fyi I never in my post supported a sexual relationship between 12 year old sara and sousuke. She will grow up and once she reaches 16, she can legally have sex with him if she wants. I also provided factual evidence for every argument. If you think I said anything fake then point it out or else COPE WITH IT. |

@cooldogmom Tell me, did you at least watch episode 12 or read this topic? In my opinion, it’s much easier to start blaming someone without even trying to understand the essence, I suppose |

@Weird-but-true I don't have a problem with the anime dude. I have a problem with what you are saying. And no I haven't watched either of the anime you've mentioned so why is that relevant? When did I say I hated anime? I don't think Sosuke and Sara have a romantic relationship. That's why I'm disagreeing with you. Idk why you're being so defensive and saying that I have an issue with anime, when that's not the case. Chill out |

Ridiculous amount of desperation in the ‘logic’ presented here! She blew him a kiss, it’s clearly romantic ๐ OP obviously never had a family, or maybe had an incestuous relationship with a parent? Trying to use linguistic nuance to say she treats him as an equal? No, she initially acts superior due to her being accustomed to her princess status… As the natural father-daughter relationship evolves Sara is more interested in her adoring classmates than her legal father. He himself never shows more than parental affection. Just watch monogatari for dodgy family relationships, it’s done so well it doesn’t even offend me. No need to fabricate them in wholesome shows like this ๐ฉ |

@sDluffy I haven't watched the last episode yet tbh. As for Sosuke calling her partner, I don't think it can be interpreted as in a relationship. Its moreso partner who helped solve the crime, something along the lines of "partner in crime" but in a positive manner. Also Brenda didn't like Sara because now it would be more difficult to try to date Sosuke because he isn't going to have as much free time as before and having a little girl around will make things romantically more difficult. She's also jealous because there's a girl in his life, and women who are in love see any girl/women as competition even if they're children. Skateboard: Sara would've been embarrassed about falling. Blushing doesn't always mean being shy. I don't have anything to note for the horse race in episode 7. But Sara probably hesitated about becoming his daughter due to the possible inconvenience of having to do all the paperwork and lying about it. It doesn't necessarily mean she wants to be in a relationship. And again, I haven't watched episode 12. But I don't think its fair to immediately assume they are in a romantic relationship because personally, that isn't what I saw or noticed. |

@FutoiOtaku Finally someone who also thinks what OP said is complete nonsense. Like how can people immediately think there's a deeper meaning to all of this? Clearly OP has never actually been in a relationship or has a father-daughter relationship to be reaching like this. Thank you for this |

Ik what she said in episode 12 sounds like she’s directly talking about Sousuke, but in the name of copium, I will believe she means someone with those same personality qualities that he has, but not him specifically. At least, until her x him becomes canon and I have to go through the usagi drop pain all over again ๐ฅฒ |

Snowchan2 said: @FutoiOtaku immediately after the kiss with hearts, Sara literally confirmed this to her friend... Nope she described her type as someone with the same qualities as Sousuke. Little girls of 5 or so often say they want to marry their fathers, but as they grow older they realise how it works and change that to wanting to marry someone LIKE their father. Not many 12 year olds still see their father as a future love interest… |

Dude... you sent me a PM for this? All because of an offhanded joke comment I made? Nothing is "canon" until it happens in the show, at most Sara has a crush on Sousuke, but from what I can see, he has shown no real romantic interest in her (or anyone for that matter) But whatever, you asked for my help, so here are some points for you. With her begin royalty, the idea of marriage was probably introduced to her much earlier than most girls, though, most likely more for political reasons, I wouldn't be surprised if at this point, she had already been introduced to potential marriage partners, most likely much older than her. So now that she is "free" I can definitely see her being more aware in that area then most of her classmates, and potentially seeking a partner of her own, also likely older than her. So, it is not outside the realm of possibility. But that's all assuming the author has though as deeply about this as I forced myself too for the last 5 minutes. Also, if you are going to try to find actual evidence in the show to confirm that they are a couple, or that she has romantic interests in him, then why did you leave out the most compelling evidence in the show? In the post credits scene of the last episode, she is literally wearing nothing but his white button-down shirt. At this point, she has her own wardrobe, yet she still chooses to relax/sleep in just her underwear and his shirt. I mean, any girl who does that, is basically screaming at you that they are into you, from my experience. |

let's look at what the theme creator is talking about in more detail with images in episode 7 where sosuke said that that man called you my daughter sara made a sad face then in episode 12 she said that it’s better to start a relationship after being friends first then everything becomes clear why she was surprised by the offer to become his daughter, but then she smiled realizing that they could start like this! Well, it’s worth adding that her air kiss was obviously to the man she loves Well I think there's no chance of resisting her when she gets older |

@Jackson1333 you are literally saying the same thing as me and I want to say it is absolutely obvious that she is in love with him and the way he is embarrassed when he sees her is very cute, it clearly does not look like he considers her his daughter and also your comment with the shirt 10/10 |

Absolutely. I've been "shipping" it since episode one, scene one, minute one, or whichever scene and minute in which they both first appeared together. But shipping without a concrete foundation and the proper groundwork laid would just be the same as baseless wishing. Fortunately, the series did lay the groundwork from very early on and gave subtle hints and nudges in that direction, but it helps to have it all aggregated in one place here. The last minute, quick, still-subtle reveal in episode 12 was just the classic way it's often handled with this type of series and story. But I think that the way it was handled was in a sense an attempt to please everyone (or mostly everyone). I've seen this happen before. It validates the shippers' hopes while still leaving enough wiggle room for plausible deniability to appease the naysayers. The next big piece of the puzzle now is confirming Sousuke's feelings toward her on this front, though that may have to wait. I have a feeling that if it goes forward in that direction there may be a moderate time skip to the point where Sara is in at least her early, if not mid to late teen years. It's amazing, when you look back on it, how they even went out of the way to stress the purely functional utilitarian purpose of the adoption so as to cover the bases and not have the relationship overly messy and confused down the line. This is beautiful, radiant, age gap relationship done right with slow steps early on, caution as they live together and feel each other out. But one with such potential if it's nurtured. The kiss at the school concert was hopefully just the start. Though those keeping up on the series in light novel form may have more insight, if not now then down the line when the novels get further ahead. I hope it's not a situation where the novels let their slow burn romance take off in full and then they refuse to make more anime of it to avoid controversy. |

@WatchTillTandava I don’t understand what kind of medicine people use in the comments, no matter how obvious everything wasn’t when Sara literally admitted this to her friend and how lovingly she looks at sosuke, it was as if they were watching another anime, even Sosuke was embarrassed with her several times and he didn’t even call her daughter when they were alone |

I swear you people are crazy. Who the fuck ships a 30 y.o. man with a 12 y.o. little girl. Their relationship was literally depicted as a father-daughter relationship from the start with him becoming her legal father confirming it. And don't go telling me that "but she blew him a kiss" or what she said during episode 12. Because that doesn't fucking matter, that's just a daughter loving her father, and at most it's Oedipus complex if you really wanna push it. But still, there is no indication about Sosuke ever thinking about her that way, in fact everything goes against it, he literally thinks about if he should try to find a girlfriend to serv as a mother figure to Sara. And even without that I still don't see how you could ever think of that "ship" as a possibility, considering nothing has ever supported it, and no, even if Sara did love Sosuke, it still wouldn't support anything about that claim. So stop fantasizing about an actual romance between a grown adult and a literal child, because no matter how you think you may be justifying it, it has and will always be wrong. |

I will be very disappointed if this was actually the case. Age difference aside, their relationship is very wholesome and depicted in a unique way as father-daughter, very rarely seen, and one of the better examples of found family. There's not enough platonic relationships done properly as is, not everything has to be about romance. People can be improtant to each other without falling in love, and the fact any positive interection gets interpreted as romance only shows to tell that there has to be more representation of other types of love. Turning them into a couple would ruin the whole show entirely. |

@Weird-but-true I was gonna help you by saying something like how anime will probably do cross these lines but the way you phrased this one and the way you are thinking, you are too far gone I suggest a break from anime. |

@Ckema dude Usagi drop first started with a wholesome "father and daughter" relationship! From what I remember season 1 of usagi drop did not give a single clue that it will be a disaster in the future. I will not be surprised if this anime follow the same route. |

@RjtheGreat14 Well yeah I know about that, but the point I was trying to make was more on the moral side. As in it actually happening would be wrong therefore thinking that this could happen from what we've seen in the anime is also wrong. I'm not really saying that this cannot happen but that it should not happen. But my post was more targetted at the people who think it would be realistic for it to happen and those who want it to happen, it was more of a moral argument if anything. |

@Ckema It definitely should not happen BUT I will not be surprised if the father and daughter relationship evolves in to something bad. Well if you think about it, The one with the pink hair girl, the lawyer (forgot her name) have also a crush to the MC. and she also looks very young despite she is a adult. |

Wtf.. was trying to see who he ends up with and got here. I believe he might end up with the widow - the mom of Sara's friend. |
