Out of lucky star, nichijou, and azumanga daioh which is your favorite? I just recently received all of these on dvd and have watched them for the first time over the past few months and I was wondering which everyone liked best. Personally lucky star is an easy win of the 3 for me. I love the art style of nichijou but it took about half the series before it started to grow on me and I'm still not a huge fan. Just not my type of humor. And azumanga never really grew on me. I thought this was weird since they're all essentially the same type of show with the Same comedy and I love lucky star but was a bit bored with the other two. Let me know your thoughts.

I agree with this. Lucky star easily beats them all. I still love them all tho. It is surpassed a little bit by minami-ke for my favorite sol/comedy.

i really liked azumanga daioh and it made me laugh many times but lucky star was boring and kinda generic

Azumanga for me. Its sense of humor is on point.
Nichijou was my first ultra moe anime and coupled with KyoAni's animation, it was an absolute blast. But unfortunately the jokes just didn't do it for me so it didn't stick with me in the long term.
Lucky Star kinda killed my interest via the live-action segments at the end of each episode. Probably my fault for forcing myself to watch them.

But honestly they're all great. I don't think there are any wrong answers here.

I do love all of them very much! I think the appeal varies due to the times they were made - Azumanga Daioh came first, Lucky Star was later and a parody of this style of show and anime in general, and Nichijo was the latest. Azumanga Daioh is my fav purely because it’s humour resonants with me most. What I will say tho as watching these shows as a teenage girl Azumanga Daioh’s and Nichijo’s character felt much more relatable and realistic as characters whilst the Lucky Star ones feel more moe-fan servicey characters who are there to be liked as oppose to related to.

I feel the same about nichijou. I liked it, the humor was just a miss for me. They're all cute and relaxing though. I enjoy easy watch anime like them. no wrong answers indeed ^_^

I enjoy them all as well. and I think your right. the mid 2000s was when most of my favorites came out. it's also the year when I started really getting into anime so I do think lucky stars time period resonates with me the most. and being a guy i never even considered the relatability of the characters. that makes so much sense though and I do agree that azumanga and nichijou have more realistic and relatable characters and I think that's also a reason why I like the more fanservice lucky star best. thank you for your insightful input!

I grew up with naruto and I enjoy bleach but I pretty strongly dislike shounen as a whole. slice of life has always been a favorite of mine. although my slice of life big 3 is non non biyori, flying witch, and laid back camp

Lucky Star for me. I watched a few episodes of Nichijou but the humor didn't really do it for me, same with Azumanga Daioh.

azumanga daioh is probably objectively better comedy-wise but I just have a special place in my heart for lucky star. I could never get into nichijou

Nichijou is my favorite. I still listen to the character songs years later (look them up when your done watching the show, they are so funny). The other two are still classics but I like the energy of Nichijou more.

i’ve been meaning to watch Azumanga for years but still haven’t gotten to it :(

that said, it’s Nichijou and by a lot. that was the show that really got me interested in anime and even now i have so much appreciation for the amount of detail in all of Arawi’s art. and the anime feels like it was doing something new for the genre while still being a love letter to the slice of life shows of old

For me it's Azumanga Daioh > Lucky Star > Nichijou.

Lucky Star used to be my least favorite out of these 3 but I've been rewatching it lately and it's actually much better than I remembered.

Nichijou. Azumanga Daioh was weird but didn't have as much execution Nichijou does (with that weirdness). Lucky Star is good if you understand humour from way in the past so it didn't age well.

our anime gateways always have special places in our hearts. qnd the art style and animation really is lovely. azumanga is the only one I'm not finished with. I ordered in the mail and just got it a few days ago

I feel the same. nichijou feels like a much better executed azumanga. and I'm old so lucky stars humor was nostalgic for me

that's understandable. I think a big part of my enjoyment out of it is that haruhi suzumiya was the 2nd anime I ever watched and half of lucky star is just a reference to haruhi

Nichijou in general. Has far more better production values then both. But as far as comedy goes Lucky Star is a little bit on the stronger side. I didn't find azumanga as appealing as the other two. But nichijou has the best cast ever. And shinonome household always makes me smile.

Comedy-wise, it's Azumanga for me. Nichijou is better in terms of animation, though the jokes are sometimes hard to catch for a non-Japanese audience. I didn't like Lucky Star that much, it's just not for me. Though I liked the MCs in all of them. Finally it just boils down to personal preference.

lucky star >>> azumanga > nichijou. i had a laugh during every episode of lucky star, especially during the lucky channel segment and the live action endings. azumanga had a few funny moments across the whole show but it was mainly just cute. nichijou, i don't think i laughed at all. maybe i did once or twice but i can't remember lol, and it was kinda cute but i didn't enjoy it at all even though it has the best animation by far of the 3.

i agree. the animation is the sole reason i bought the bluray so i could then watch it. the pacing of it did start to grow on me about half way through though which leaned the scales just a tad bit in favor of it over azumanga but they're pretty one in the same for me. lucky star was the only one to really make me laugh though. i love em all
