Jingi really redeemed himself after coming off as a bum for like 90 percent of the show lol. We should’ve known they weren’t just gonna have him do nothing. Turns out he’s the most important member of the cast besides Yukito 😂

Puts into perspective why he was always drinking and acting so irresponsible. He was worried the entire time about Yukito and knew he’d have to sacrifice himself. I feel like he’s not gonna die tho.

I don’t think Yukito’s dad would tell his beloved student to die like that. There’s probably gonna be some twist that keeps him alive and allows balance to be brought back to the island.

I was always lenient towards Jingi. I initially thought he was the stereotypical middle child that was ignored in favor of the older brothers. I also thought he was probably parentified at a young age as he seemed to be responsible for the care of Yukito even though they were close in age. As such I believed it broke his heart that Yukito did not remember him. It seems I was partially right. This episode was very sad.

this episode was really good and heartbreaking for me. i really have been growing to like jingi. and just like i thought, he was both a lot stronger and much better person than he was letting on. to steel his resolve to sacrifice his life for yukito and the island from such a young age and then actually follow through with it? he really is a good person. he definitely deserved all those years of doing what he wanted and getting drunk all the time. i do still hope that despite what he said would happen, he'll somehow still make it through. i don't want him to die and i don't want yukito to lose someone dear to him right after he's finally come out of his shell.

the flashback scenes were really cute. yukito being attached to jingi as a little kid and jingi being just as enamoured and attached to him. adorable tbh. and finding out jingi knew about yukito being the water dragon the whole time was a surprise. although looking back on it, it does make a lot of sense that he's known about it the whole time. why he without question took yukito under his wing after being separated from him for years.

nerves all over the place for the next episode

I don't cry if characters die usually but why did jingi redeem himself I always saw him as a reckless person and someone who doesn't care about anything but after knowing he wanted to do all the things he wanted before dying but still I don't want jingi to die pls come back don't redeem yourself

I didnt really feel Jingi's story on much an emotional level but i do feel sorry for him and have more respect for him now. I feel like Jingi will be reborn at the end like Yuukito was brought into being in human form. I mean he is a powerful dragon so surely he could do a spell better than his dad.

If I am being honest the possibility of Jingi coming back alive and Yukito retaining his human form for me is kind of lower than usual 50/50, I mean... it's the original anime from the same group that made K Project series, I just hope both of them didn't have the same treatment as Mikoto Suoh and Mizuomi Kusanagi, I believe?

I am going to try to believe that possibility even though I really am skeptical

@Enigma_Leviatan I don't want him to come back alive, it would ruin the emotions i felt. like, of course i want him alive, but after that sacrifice there is so much meaning to it that him coming back would ruin everything we felt.

I feel the same way. I hate when characters die but sometimes that's what you need to feel an emotional connection to an anime. His sacrifice is literally such a key moment for the story and his character.

I'm of two minds on this.

On one hand, I hate resurrection tropes and death fake outs. And Jingi's death is written in such a way as to be really, really satisfying. If he stays dead, mad respect to the studio for sticking to their guns.

On the other hand, I like the bastard. I never thought he was going to abandon the rest of Yanagi's students. I really didn't think that was his style.

Much like with Guil in Visual Prison, I will accept some hijinks so long as it's cleverly done. If Yukito does some magic healing shit, cool. I associate water with healing anyway.

I think my favored outcome would be Jingi becoming a Mitama or something, forever protecting entertaining drunkards and stupid, self sacrificing idiots. Or something of the sort.

Depending on what happens, this could be a 8/10 or 9/10 for me. It started slow, but it still made me care enough to make me cry. It's not a 10/10, but a show that makes me feel, that makes me say "give me that stupid, self sacrificing idiot back, damn it" is not one that gets a 6.

OMG Jingi, now it all makes sense. The drinking, the care free spirit, all of it. I may have teared up a little.

Frankly this isn't a surprise, there's always been this thing with magic where each magician can cast one great spell far beyond their power, at the cost of using their life force to power the spell.

RIP Jingi. You sacrificed for the sake of the Islands.

@Brixena I'm with you btw. My rating went from 5 to 7 instantly on the strength of this one episode making me cry.

Jingi's side of the story knowing that Yukito is the Water Dragon, is when he's young, and something he learnt from his father, Makoto, himself.

As the Fire Dragon wages, Yukito and the students of Yanagi School (Chataro, Taro, Ibara) try to contain the fiery entity while Haruaki and Aka heads the front lines. But even as they face trouble incoming, it feels as if something's missing, and Jingi came in unannounced.

Jingi's side for Yukito is to help him survive through the rough days, even at the cost of his sacrifice, knowing that he would not suffice well when he was outside the Ayaka Islands. But to bear the water dragon within a human, Jingi fely like he had no choice but to follow Makoto's dying wishes and follow through for what will happen. And as the years pass, it's Jingi who meets him after he's all grown-up, which leads to how they both met in the very beginning. As he does his own reports back on Makoto's grave, death is imminent, but he's ready to be willing to be the sacrifice to reinstate and revive Yukito's water dragon powers.

All of Jingi's moment of living was to be Yukito's sacrifice, yeah...literally plot devices awaitng for their usage. Not sure how I like that...

They actually killed of the disagreable deuteragonist!

Well, they did explain some of his behaviour. But this is EP 10/12. So it really is "too little, too late". I still don't get why Jingi treated Yukito like trash. And why did he even get close to him if he was to die for him? Nobody forced him to be his teacher...

I wonder if there will be any plot twist in the last two episodes or if it will just be "Defeat Fire Dragon, go back to normal life".

Poor Jingi!!! So this is why he was a alcoholic, knowing he has to sacrifice himself for his dear brother while being so scared to do so. Loved Jingi, hope he somehow comes back :(
