Game developer Madosoft announced the production of a 12-episode short television anime adaptation of the Hamidashi Creative visual novel following a successful crowdfunding campaign on Tuesday. Each episode will have a broadcast time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The crowdfunding also revealed the main staff and a 2024 premiere.

The campaign launched on the Campfire website on June 30 and exceeded its initial goal of 10 million yen (approximately US$68,000) by 1139%. The crowdfunding ended on Tuesday, raising over 113 million yen (approximately US$778,000).

Hisayoshi Hirasawa (Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki, Rail Romanesque) is credited as the chief director and Keiya Nakano (Keijo!!!!!!!!, Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm) is designing the characters. Frontier Engine and Hayabusa Film are producing the series.

The Hamidashi Creative visual novel was developed by Madosoft and published by iMeL on Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4 in Japan in June 2021. The game was released on PC on September 30.

Synopsis
It’s the end of June, and the summer seems to be locked in place. Tomohiro Izumi, recognized by himself and those around him as an introvert, is spending another quiet day in his little corner of his classroom… or so he thought.

"Congratulations! You’ve been selected as our next student council president!"

The student council president lottery, held on the spur of the moment by the academy. Tomohiro manages to be the one randomly selected thanks to his ridiculous luck! Now the spotlight is suddenly upon him, and as a result, rumors about him begin to circulate. With no way out, Tomohiro relies on his advisor to start gathering allies he can rely on.

But none of the candidates his advisor suggests, from his classmate Kano to his underclassman Asumi, and even his little sister Hiyori, are even coming to the campus!? Amidst all of this chaos, even the former president that no one could ever get ahold of, Shio, shows up…!

Is it fate, or is it a foregone conclusion? The unheard of and unprecedented battles of the “Random Lottery Student Council President” are about to begin! (Source: Sekai Project, edited)

100 million yen....and only 12 episodes that 2 1/2 mins each for a total of...around 30 minutes total.

That's...kinda pricey for what is basically a 30 min OVA episode?

I was thinking about the same thing . In my humble opinion either most of the money went to extra merchandise to the patrons or maybe the rest of the money will be used for sequel .  It's doesn't make sense

Hey, not every studio in Japan launders foreign money like MAPPA and Production IG. Maybe it cost so much because they are going to actually pay their animators, for once.

Because it was mistranslated. Here is a better translation of the original source:

This project is for the production of "Hamidashi Creative" animation.

If we reach our goal of 10 million yen, we will produce 5-minute animated shorts (2 minutes and 30 seconds, total of 12 episodes) [TL note: they mean 2 episodes per 5 minute slot so it would be 6x2 episodes broadcasted] based on the game version, but with original elements unique to the anime, which will be enjoyed by existing and new fans alike. (Broadcasting is scheduled for the end of 2024.)

The funds raised will be used for the following purposes:

- Production costs of the full-length animation
- Preparation and shipping of returned goods
- Promotion expenses
- CAMPFIRE fees and various taxes

If we raise more than the target amount, we will set a new goal. Depending on the amount raised, we will add additional benefits, expand the broadcast slot, and use the funds for additional promotional expenses.

If I knew beforehand that such a cute anime was being crowdfunded I would give a support. Never heard of the visual novel, but since the last ones I read were really wild I guess it's time to play a more smooth one...

Indeed, this was outrageous. I guess the remaining money will keep for themselves, based on how crowdfunding from games company.

I have never seen anything good come out of crowdfunding, and this basically proves that crowdfunding is stupid. 100 million yen they got- and they're going to produce 30 minutes of anime split into 2 1/2 minute episodes??? So it costs 10 million yen to make 150 seconds of anime.... riiiiiiiight. Sounds like a scam.

by that crowdfunding alone that is good for 2-3 TV episodes that have great quality

but if that crowdfunding is just a portion of their overall budget then 1-2 cours show is possible

Exciting news! Madosoft's successful crowdfunding campaign means a 12-episode, 2.5-minute anime adaptation of Hamidashi Creative is on the horizon for 2024. With an impressive 1139% funding boost, a talented team, and an intriguing storyline, it's definitely something to look forward to. Congratulations to Madosoft, and we can't wait to see the "Random Lottery Student Council President" in action!
