| Not getting an anime, should not get an anime Some manga are just better as manga and arn't fit for an anime adaptation Oyasumi punpun is one of them, Vagabond too. If theres any highly appreciated manga that should get an anime adaptation, thats 20th century boys, i personally think it would make a great anime too |

| It could definitely work and be a wonderful adaptation, but it's definitely risky. If we ever get I wish they keep Punpun completely silent like in the manga, not even a narrator saying his lines, just a cut to a black screen with text like old silent movies. Goodnight Punpun is a very unique manga, so the anime would be kinda experimental Btw a live action definitely WOULDN'T WORK. Punpun, his family and many face expressions only work because they're drawings, it wouldn't translate well to live action. |
| I keep hearing that it wouldn't work as an anime adaptation, but why? Is it just because we never see Punpun talk directly like every other character, but the narrator telling us what he is saying? There are various ways to deal with that, I don't see the issue. You'd need a very good director, of course. The huge issue that prevents it from being adapted is that it's too dark, I mean real darkness and not superficial edginess (which I even like, I'm not criticizing works relying on that). |
