| Look up the anime director Tomino Yoshiyuki. He always leave philosophical messages in his writing. Most of his works can be found on Netflix due to the sheer size of the fanbases. And try not to cry when your favourite characters get killed off~ |

| Here’s a few thought provoking animes. I tried not to retread what others have already said. Aoi Bungaku Series Erased Ergo Proxy Legend of the Galactic Heroes (political philosophy mainly) Paranoia Agent Blast of Tempest Beyond the Heavens Gantz Inuyashiki: Last Hero Code Geass is not particularly profound, but the Character of the Emperor seems to be loosely based on Nietzsche’s ideas. I’ve noticed that anime in general tends to approach philosophical themes without actually touching the philosophical as such. You get that rush of “Woah deep…” without coming to anything really concrete. The exceptions to this for me, thus far, have been Berserk, Psycho-Pass and LOGH. But that is not to discount the “thought provoking” animes that I listed. As Heidegger once said - “The most thought provoking thing about our thought provoking age, is that we are still not thinking”. I wish you well in your investigations of thought! |
