This anime is criminally underrated

It keeps getting even better with every episode, the plot and the characters, the animation!! The art style is uniquely different and it's really beautiful. At first I was just watching since it's shoujo (my fav genre) but now (7 episodes are out so far) I'm totally invested looking forward to each episode.
The only downside I see is the mistranslation of names of almost everything, if they just type what's being said it would be much easier to remember.

Ummm... No? Do you mean underpopular? This show is actually good, but not too good. 7.3 is a good rating for this show.

I can’t help but agree: this anime is incredible. It gets even better every weeks, the animation is good, the story is really interesting, and the characters’ developments are looking great so far. Definitely one of my favourite anime this season, not to say the first… I can’t wait to see the next episode !! I wasn’t expecting to spend such a great time watching this anime !
On top on that, the ending and opening are soooo good.
This anime definitely worth the watch !!

If I’m not mistaking, the fact it’s not exactly written what you can hear (especially for names) is due to the differences between the Japanese and Chinese pronunciations- like, they don’t have the same pronunciation at all so I guess it’s more about kind of « equivalent » for the names... maybe by using the Chinese characters/kanjis and directly picking their pronunciations ?? I’m not confident about what I’m saying but anyway, I still agree it’s not very that easy to make it clear about who is who, especially if we haven’t seen the character so far for instance !
Btw I’m really glad to see other people being enthusiast regarding this anime. Let’s enjoy the show until the end !! ~

Love the art, the style its really beautiful. And I thought its Jousei. The plot is ample, but whats more is I definitely enjoy the progress of their relationship…really so cute, esp when how she tell him to stay away from the inner palace but the Emperor just continue to visit her. And the way she’s react esp regarding food, snacks or sweet buns. End of latest ep I really thought he was proposing to her but gotta start as friends first lol. Reminds me of Akatsuki no Yona and Mahoutsukai no Yome.

yeah. it pains me how so few people are aware of this anime. this is a legit great anime. i'm sure even elitists will like this anime.

Idk, I feel like the pacing overall is still too slow. Even though we learn a thing or two about the past between the Raven and the Emperor, not much is still happening. However, the show does keep me intrigued through visuals and va alone.

In the context of anime josei historical dramas it's pretty good. but I enjoy the genre of historical dramas outside of anime and I will say the runtime is hurting some of the depth that you otherwise could get out of the characters, setting, and intrigue. I'm a big fan of animation and what it can add to narrative. but I kinda just wish this was a drama (if anyone has any recommendations in that realm I'd love to hear them I would like to watch more dramas)

Yea seriously - it’s the only 9/10 (maybe 10/10) I’m handing out this season. Amazing depth to the story/plot. It’s way better than spy family, villainess, chainsaw, mha, etc imo. I rewatched a couple times, and it has an intricate enough plot, that you pick up on additional small details on a rewatch. It’s a true masterpiece. It should be rated 8 or more not 7.3 lmao

I don't agree. The anime is beautiful and both the setting and premise are interesting. The unfortunate thing is, that's all this anime has going for it.
I rated it a 7/10, not because of the compelling plot or characters, but because of the occasional violent fan-service we were treated to.

I exptected nothing else. It's chinese and a josei, so it will be very niche by default unfortunately.

It's just a bit rushed maybe, but it's really good.

I agree, reading one thing then hearing another is really jarring. That's really about my only complaint so far. It does feel like the pacing is a bit off, like too fast sometimes, too slow others, but it's a minor issue that I don't feel takes away from the watching experience. It's been a pleasant surprise though, easily an 8 out of 10, so I agree it's a bit underrated. That's to be expected from a Chinese Dynasty-era josei. "Niche" is an understatement lol

My lists are way out of date...

No, it comes from chinese novels and there are novels left to adapt.

Yea I just finished yesterday and come here to rate 10 for this anime and was surprised this anime not even over 8.x
