No the 1st season was just split into 2 parts this is the second season

No, netflix just sucks and has been cutting episode counts for their products more and more. And splitting their already reduced season into 2 batches

It’s not bad. It’s supposed to look like that. It’s meant to be more like a motion manga instead of an actual anime. Netflix just advertised it as one. They also didn’t split it because they wanted to. Netflix will split a season of something into parts to make a bigger profit. And not because the studio that made it wants to. The same happened with Jojo part 6 as well. If these just aired on tv I doubt they would have been split into parts.

Technically this is season 2 because of the way it was produced. But practically speaking, it will probably feel like a season 3 simply because it's the third batch of episodes we've gotten.

I hate this whole part 2 vs season 2 thing because the main difference is always on the production side of things. Like...AoT The Final Season doesn't feel like one season. I finally caught up on AoT in 2020 because I thought it was ending, but here I am in 2023 and still haven't been able to finish it.

edit: Even the opening is the same. This definitely doesn't feel like a second season.
