Grave of fireflies is the most realistic and sad movie that i watched and this is one of those anime that you'll never wanna re-watch and you'll never be able to forget about it.
What do you guys think?

I didn't really connect with the characters the two times I saw it, so it wasn't specially sad for me.

This movie was just another overhyped movie said to be super sad. Seita is a trash mc and basically killed his sister.

I actually did watch it a second time but it wasn’t as good as the first one. So I guess you have a point there in not wanting to rewatch it

This movie was so depressing, I told myself I’d never watch it again because it just made me feel terrible. I ended up rewatching it with someone and I didn’t feel anywhere near as sad as I did the first time. There are also things I didn’t pick up on the first time that was nice to see on the rewatch. Outstanding movie and it does have some rewatch value

Just because someone gives an opinion that you don't agree with does not mean that person is a troll. Negative opinions are still valid opinions.

Wow a smart person on mal! You dont see that to often.

is he not a troll for not explaining why he thinks the mc is not likeable?you can't just call something garbage without explaining why you thinks so

I get exactly what you're saying, I had a number of anime/movies which I felt were too hard hitting for me to experience again, but I've done it and honestly it's not like that at all.

I feel like the first time is always going to be the most emotional, re-watching, although not as impactful can help you understand why it impacted you as much the first time around.

Honestly I always hate it when ppl say shit like this lol. I didn't cry with this movie but still found it sad and cried with other shows/movies instead. It all depends on how connected you feel to the characters or even how you're feeling that day, etc. It's like me saying "whoever doesn't cry when that ant in hxh reunites with her mom is an emotionless robot", like just bc I cried it means everyone should react the same way...? it's silly

seemed like trauma-porn, but I really liked it. it was indeed realistic, showed exactly what it was like after the bombings. people literally didn't have any homes and children were orphaned. There was also a food shortage and rations, and kids didn't get to choose who they lived with or where they could squat. It was super sad and really beautifully created. a hard watch to see again! if you ever want to see if again but are put off because it is so sad, maybe consider watching with someone new 😆 or our moms or aunts who want to cry!

What you wrote was ignorant of what the point of the film/novel is though. Seita as an MC is supposed to be flawed, thats how you write a character lol. Didnt think that needed to be said. Seita represents Japan during WW2 so it adds to the commentary that Japan simply couldn't swallow it's own pride, the same same way Seita couldn't. This film has a lot of depth in it's narrative and the message of it's ending is extremely powerful so whether you think it's sad or not (which even I don't I dont think it's suoer emotional despite being a huge Grave fan) doesn't really matter.

It was fo sho a hard re-watch. Having to relive those dark moments again.
It was very depressing to the point of it being traumatic to watch.
Words cannot describe how brutal the bombings were.
