I watched 10 eps of gintama and died of boredom. Garbage humor. People say it gets better later on, but I ain't gonna push myself to watch 50 eps of boring humor. I laughed with grand blue 5 minutes into the first ep, so no, Gintama aint funnier.

I just finished Gintama ss4 recently and I can say Gintama is funnier, longer, emotional and have more impressive characters than Grand blue and Prison school. May be you don’t like the kind of jokes in Gintama

Grand Blue is quite funny, Gintama is boring, and Prison School is very disgusting, let alone being funny.

You do not write comedy, but characters and put them in situations.
Gintama is known for it's phenomenal, rich and diverse cast. It's peak comedy for a reason.

for everyone saying gintama is boring: did you realize that the first two eps were filler? beside that gintama is MOUNTAIN above grand blue in terms of comedy and everything else. there are episodes in gintama where they’ll just be a side character talking to strangers and doing random stuff unique to their character. other times there are full blown arcs dedicated to being funny like afro arc, barbershop arc, vacation arc, cat arc and the funniest of them all scandal arc, the list goes on. grand blue is very funny but gintama is unparalleled

Let me tell you, Gintama and Grand blue are two of the most hilarious anime that this medium has to offer. The thing is that gintama is way longer and it relies heavily on more characters. Not every single episode is going to be funny but once you get to know the characters and once you get to know the situation of gintama then its will be awesome. Gintama is also action packed and it also has some serious and tear jerking moments so you can say thats its an overall package of everything.

In conclusion, if you are looking for an anime that will make you laugh the same way as grand blue did, Gintama is the way to go. Only thing is, you need to be patient to watch plenty of episodes until it starts to get way way better.

If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

the thing about grand blue is that you connect yourself with the characters.

you know your highschool and college days.

so yeah gintama is better as an anime but grand blue has a special place in my heart

I watched all the anime you mentioned. So I can give you a fair opinion. So if I were to say comedy per episode, it’s clearly grand blue. However there are episodes in gintama that are way more hilarious than grand blue but what I like about gintama is it’s consistency. It’s very funny through out. Gintama and grandblue are my top 2 fav anime and they are both hilarious. I would ask you to give it a try for sure. I know it’s a lot to ask but watch the first 25 ep and if you absolutely hated it, then maybe it’s not for you. However, gintama also has other elements like great characters and emotional moments. You can start an episode laughing your ass off only to end it crying. Tbh it’s hard to chose which is funnier cause I never laughed harder in my life while watching grand blue or a few ep of gintama.

This might hurt some feelings, but I never found Gintama to be funny.
For the anime at least, Prison School > Grand Blue > Gintama. Grand Blue manga massacres Prison School though.

since most people here havent watched gintama or doesn't understand the jokes in gintama take it from me since i watched all three
gintama is great if you understand the jokes wich relate to other anime most of the time and taking it easy since its a long runner
GB and PS good because they packed the jokes in 12 eps only

Have watched all of the animes you mentioned.
Havent completed Gintama yet though, only watched 82 episodes. I have to disagree with people who say that Gintama is a better comedy than Grand Blue. Of course thats my own opinion, Gintama is a classic and its quite funny too, although sometimes you dont get to relate with it. But Grand Blue man, it had me laughing literally every other minute and every episode. If I have to rank them > 1) Grand Blue 2) Gintama, last is Prison School. Imho I kind of dislike Prison School cause of its ecchiness, and exaggeration, its alot, quite alot. But it still managed to make me laugh, not as much as those other 2 though.

Gintama is way better than these two other shows. People who don't like it propably watched only few episodes, or more importantly, they didn't understand most of jokes and references. This is understandable, because gintama is making parody of everything they can. If I'd compare it to other show, it'd family guy. In gintama you have a lot of references to other anime(especially battle shounens as dragon ball, one piece etc.) , history, culture and famous people in Japan, video games etc. Gintama is even making fun of itself. This anime is not for avarage viewer. You have to know a lot to understand anything. Altough if you understand jokes, you will be laughing and laughing. But gintama has a lot more good sides. There are a ton of well written characters you won't forget, the animation is quite good, voice actors are making a perfect job, some arcs or episodes are action packed, some will make you cry, and some will teach you something. So overall, gintama is not only better than grand blue amd prison school, but is one of the best anime ever.

i really love both and i i thknk both are feally funny but in gintama a lot of jokes are references to other shonen jump series like bleach dbz one piece,jojos, captian tsubasa and other so of course to understand the jokes you must have to watch those animes before but is worth a 100% in the other casw grand blue everypne can understand the comedy so i think in this case GB is better
i don't mention PS because i think in comedy is a tier before both is really funny but the level of the other two is really higher

There is a difference when you say there was 50 funny episodes in 500 episodes(gintama doesen't have that much tho) and when you say there was 50 funny episodes in 100 episodes(amount of episodes you marked as watched on your list). By this post you're misleading people about gintama.

Gintama relies heavily on building up its cast so humor hits harder over time. There are a ton of sites online that tell you which early episodes to skip so you still meet the whole cast but skip the less-funny early episodes.

Grand blue have a slice of life comedy,and gintama have dirty comedy,this two anime cant compare you can compare 1arc of gintama and grand blue,but you cant compare a whole episode of gintama that have 300+ episode

if grand blue releases like a 100eps then it can get better than gintama.The flow of comedy in each episode is better in grand blue as compared to gintama
