If it isn't possible for Riko's mother to come back form the last level of the Abyss then why did she go there in the first place and left her daughter alone? Isn't that equivalent to being a bad mother and where is Riko's father and grand parents?

It’s dangerous for a white whistle to have family. They are at risk of abduction, kidnapping, random etc.

That’s why she hid Riko’s identity and only a few knew about it.

She said that she can grow up and make her own decisions about what type of life she wants to live.

I also think she just loves the Abyss and wants to discover more about it.

Does that make her a bad mother? Yeah it probably does tbh. But that’s how it is.

Another wrinkle is whether or not you believe the note is really from her mother or not. If it is, then her mother wanted to reunite with her. On the other hand it also means she’s trying to convince Riko to make a dangerous journey into the Abyss.

So, it’s all kind of a mystery. But any way you slice it, she’s not a stereotypical mother.

The good thing is that it looks like Riko inherited the same personality that she had, and has no problem whatsoever with leaving everything behind and taking a journey of no return.

Riko’s father is discussed in the show. Did you not get that far?

The father is said to be dead, and the grandparents are unknown as far as I know. Probably safe to assume they were divers who have long since passed.

Well that seems like a reasonable answer.

I read the manga 2 months ago, so sorry if I forget some details.

So, Lyza's first love is The Abyss, just before her husband and daughter enter her life. So, I assume whatever's going to happen, as long as she's still alive she's always back to Abyss.

Her father is part of the joint team, they fall in love on it. Have a baby (which is actually very dangerous and dumb, sorry). They got an attack most ppl on the team die including the father.

In my opinion, if we're going to judge Lyza bassed in "normal mother" who take care of their babys and never left their side, we'll concern Lyza as a bad mother. But, if we rethink, Lyza has a big ambition on Abyss, she can be selfish to drop off the baby and continue her journey to the lower Abyss, instead bet a life to return on the surface. I think she has a vision.

Lyza probably wise, bcs she know her daughter will be as same as her. Obsessed about her Abyss. And they gonna make a reunion, they'll meet each other in Abyss cuz Riko apable to overtake her. Though, she left some wrinkle note in Abyass to ccoordinate her position for Riko. So, it's a waste if Lyza just live on the surface while give up about the amazing Abyss.

Lyza looks like has no relatives, so orphanage is the right option. However, she's smart enough to make herself recognized by Jiruo as guarantee for her daughter's safetiness.

Anyway, are you watching HunterxHunter? Lyza is like Ging who return Gon to Mito-san and continue the journey to discover world's mystery.

Conclusion: Lyza isn't bad mother

Yes, I agree and like the fact that you have looked at both the opinions about the things which make her a bad mother and which make her a good one as she wants her daughter to be better than her. Well, its her life so its her choice about how to raise her daughter.

Quote "Why did Riko's mother go to the last level of the Abyss?" To run away from the annoying little brat called Riko, I would dump her in a landfill Ouzen was right all along ...
Me every time I hear the word "reparations": 🤣🤣🤣
