I really enjoy Eiko and Nanami's relationship in this show so far, very charming and simple as the way it is. Plus, they both share a common interest and passion for music. Really hope to see Nanami stay around until end of the season.

On Kongming's side, it's good to see him keep in momentum with his work even when not with Eiko.

Kongming is extremely confident to play Ring Fit with someone while using fairly clothes.

To talk with Kabe, you need to diss him in a moment of the conversation.

Now im sure that Nanami is the center of Azalea.

Seems like there are some girls out there fangirling over Kabe, just what you'd expect out of a rapper. Though he still has some worries over his skills, so glad he met that old pal of his.

Also from streets to public baths, Eiko and Nanami rocking it up everywhere.

Props to this anime for having a public bath episode that didn't rely on fanservice...unless you count Eiko and Nanami's singing as fanservice, of course!

It's good how this episode adopts both the "go back to your roots" and "go forward to try something new" as approaches to try and discover something new about yourself. Every artist at some point deals with the knowledge that they aren't good enough and worry if they've "plateaued," or that they can't improve any further. But what Eiko threw out flippantly as a suggestion was something Kabe took to heart (even if it led to a questionably-backhanded compliment by those two girls). His conversation with the boy from the last episode by the konbini is all about transformation - regardless of who you are in your everyday life, performance (be it musical, theatre, etc) allows you to take on a new persona, new personality, a new you. You can become something not only worth being admired by others, but admiring within yourself. It's returning also to the self-confidence theme Kongming discussed with Eiko back in episode 4, and in the rap battle two episodes ago.

As far as Eiko is concerned, she took a chance on a new friend and found something worth doing. Whether it was trying the public bath or being willing to open up about her own problems (perhaps helped by some "liquid courage"), she's far more self-assured and confident than the Eiko we saw back in episode one. Nanami's backstory seems intimately tied to Azalea, perhaps as a former member or even AS a member (the long purple hair is perhaps the biggest clue). IF that's true, then it might make for some interesting late-game drama - a rival helping another rival. The motivation of course is unclear at the moment. Perhaps something that Kabe's friend mentioned before could be a part of it - that performing should be fun, and she's not having fun as part of Azalea. Gotta also love the theatrical directing of the vehicle passing by and Nanami disappearing!

For now, we press onward!

Man, Kabe is the ladies' man!

And hot damn, Eiko and Nanami just give the entire bathhouse a free performance.

Edit: Ohhhh sometimes I get a good feelin'... Can't believe we got an Avicii reference here!

Finally, a public bath with no "fanservice"... except the beautiful singing haha.
I enjoyed Eiko and Nanami's relationship and their interactions.
The "Try something new" trope adaptation in this show is so good.
Kabe's friend Sasatcho was a mood.

Great ep as usual!

So I’m guessing Nanami part of that idol group and is kinda trying to go her own way based on her reaction when Eiko asked if she knew about Azaela. Would also explain why it seems like something is eating at her.

Lol at Eiko and Nanami giving the entire bathhouse a free concert, definitely the most original fanservice I’ve seen in some time

Also loved the avicii levels reference during Eiko dream sequence. RIP Tim.

Great episode! Eiko and Nanami sing very well together and when they sung in the bathtubs, everyone was there to compliment them!
Kabe's improvised rap matched Eiko's singing quite well also! Kabe sees Sasatcho again!
And it seems that kid stood up for himself this time whilst rapping!

Looking forward to the next episode!

Yay! Nanami brought her bass guitar and is vocally training Eiko as x day draws nearer.
Trippy dream Eiko has about Kongming in the public baths.

Nanami's public singing is so she can get away from being the frontwoman for mass-produced idol group Azalea. How long will the secret be kept from Eiko.

Kabe's fame as a battle rapper has made him a legend at his high school. Girls want to shake hands wiT him and the young schoolboy he helped against bullies before may soon follow in his footsteps as a rapper. Under the bridge, he meets his old classmate who inspired him to rap im the first place. Now a YouTube rapper, he only gets a hundred views at most but never gives up.

Sasatcho was super kind and a really nice friend, Same Nanamin but it seems there won't be a next time for those two, or at least no longer as allies anymore.

Turns out that Nanami is not only a great vocalist, but a great bass player too. Nanami continues to Eiko some pointers on how to become a better singer as the two of them spend more time together. On the other hand Kabe went back to his old stomping grounds and ran into his old friend Sasatcho who reminded Kabe not to be obsessed with winning and just have fun.

We all know Nanami is connected to the idol group Azalea, but something tells me that she wants to break away from the idol scene and do something different. However, the people in charge of Azalea won't let her go.

Good thing Kabe hasn't been relegated to the sidelines and is receiving proper focus. Was great to see him take Eiko's words to heart and actually visit his roots. Also, props for developing a random side character.

Meanwhile, Eiko has struck up a friendship with Nanami and with her help, has slowly improved herself over the course of a few days.

Excited to see how the eventual Nanami reveal turns out.

hmm very curious to know why Nanami said she hates Azalea but boy does Paripi koumei never feel boring and the characters are too damn likeable.
Also Kabes friend (forgot his name) saying rapping isn't about winning was pretty inspirational lol

I bet Azalea is either toxic, or they ban freedom of expression. In other words, Nanami is expected to be a "flawless singer", more akin to a robot, rather than a person.

I hope she ditches Azalea in the end and joins team Eiko.

Watched the last 2 episodes back to back, and for me there's something that just doesn't feel as fresh and vibrant as it was in the early episodes. Particularly it's about Kabe and how redundant his sob story just keeps playing the same tune of the lame guy that has so little self respect. To some extent he reminds me of Hachiman, always looking for the most convoluted solution for the simplest problems. I don't hate the guy, I just wish we would have moved on already from his slump phase.

Really good episode. And a bath scene without fanservice, i actually enjoyed it.

Yeah Nanamin is either the lead in Azalea or she was once in Azalea. The center chick has the same color hair as her in the billboard.

I know Idols usually have strict rules and for what seems like a free spirit Nanamin doesnt want to deal with them anymore.

Gonna be interesting!

Based on the opening (I know we're talking about just a few seconds sequence, but still) I'd feel inclined to say that even though Azalea's members go by their actual names, the actual band is all about stage-established personas, and those don't leave much room for the singers' artistic freedom

Well, seems Nanami is a good girl an she had a good time with Eiko, but she looks tired or unhappy with her manager or the agency she works for because you can see in her eyes how she's loves to sing. I wonder how Eiko will react when she knows who's the girl she was hanging on, and what's up with the third bag Kongming gave her? Or this was planned by him too?

Great episode as always, and I bet you that Nanami has some ties with the idol group.
Graduated High School in May of 2022. Summer vacation has finally arrived. I have once again regained the power of a new anime fan, being able to watch multiple anime episodes in a day. Time to binge-watch every single anime I can into the night until college arrives. SADGE. SUPER SADGE... College has begun as of Monday, August 30, 2022, so you won't be seeing me much around these parks. See you on weekends, I guess... School me is back. Sigh! I'll at least try for one anime a day with all this course load.

Eiko's new found friend of rival group Azalea lead singer Nanami, they're on good terms and street busking is their mustard seed of faith to reach to the masses. Also, their singing is original to the anime (which i've said too late), but it adds a touch of musical texture to the already great manga. Haha, Kongming and the renowned musician playing a version of Switch Fit.

Kabe and Eiko's impromptu improvised singing-rapping duet sounds fantastic, but still feels like there's something missing. The bath time fanservice (which ain't one) is also original to give depth to the characters, which is one way of greatly utilizing a trope for the better. Kabe's coincidental meeting with old rap friend Sasatcho is also nice, while Eiko and Nanami's friendship is getting better, though Eiko's very oblivious to Nanami's true self.

Good for the bullied boy to find his stance with Kabe, courage given that's definitely not a diss.

This episode definitely was an anime-original episode with a chapter's worth of content, which already adds to the complements to a masterpiece hidden gem of the season.

Really great episode! I really like the parallels between Eiko and Kabe's "training arc" I guess you could call it.

Now I wanna hear the full version of "Roppongi Udon Shop" feat Kabe.

Sasatcho's a real bro, not only was he the one that introduced Kabe to rap, but dude is a top notch supporter too.

Kabe being complimented, but dissed harder is hilarious lmao.

Really loving Eiko and Nanami's friendship, I am gonna need a full version of "I'm Still Alive Today."

Man, the drip that Eiko has though, it's overwhelming.

Can't wait for the next episode. Obviously, Nanami is part of Azalea, but we can see that she's not happy with them, really intrigued to see her backstory.

This episode continues Eiko and Kabe's respective training arc and it was done really well. Kabe's Engrish rapping isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he did well with his improvised rapping alongside Eiko's Roppongi Udon Shop song that she belted out. It also helped the both of them in what they needed to do next in order to get better.

For Kabe, it was to head back to his home town where he was greeted by two high school girls who were big fans of his. After that, he met his old friend who, despite not rhyming well, is enjoying rapping. He doesn't have Kabe's popularity whatsoever, but as long as he's enjoying what he does, then who are we to judge? =P

As for Eiko, she continued to sing along with Nanami in the streets of Tokyo while the two of them bonded more and more together. The highlight wad their trip to the bath house. I do love myself some fanservice, but the show kept that to an absolute minimum during their bath house visit and that was definitely the right thing to do here. Their vocal rendition of their song while in the bath was excellent and the other customers on both sides of the baths loved it, too.

If anyone haven't been convinced that Nanami is part of Azalea, then the last bit of the episode should all but confirm that now. The way that her face turns saddened after getting a call from what could be her band mate, alongside her criticism of Azalea after Eiko ask her about them earlier, does show that she's not happy in her position right now.

It'll be interesting to see how the next episode will go, with the deadline day fast approaching. Hopefully the hard work from Eiko and Kabe will pay off. =)

Hmm it seems like Nanami isn't so comfortable with her lifestyle outside singing in the streets, judging by her reactions when her motivations for singing is the topic. Still, she enjoyed her time with Eiko and even had the kindness of training her.

On the other hand, I liked Kabe's little self-exploring journey. It was a wholesome moment with his friend.
