Kotaro teaches his friend about the importance of independance after seeing how he is with his housekeeper.
Taking Manga-ka's words to heart Kotaro treats Dodgeball like a conversation, he doesn't want to avoid it and is afraid of his throw being ignored.
Looks like his mum ignored him, perhaps she was depressed, given suicide stops life insurance paying out I'm guessing her end was illness or even worse, could include the father.
Kotaro's birthday, it was nice he shared the celebration with the cats. The whole he didn't know being born was to be celebrated, damn these hints at his past are sad.
His friend runs away from home hoping to worry his parents, kids be stupid some times and Kotaro learns he does have someone to worry about him.
Kotaro wants Lawyer to relax, unfortunetly she relaxes too much, but still keep the secret for his sake, also kid just be opening Manga-ka's delivery lmfao.
Kids festival time and Manga-ka volunteers to set it up, and brings in help, all for Kotaro's sake, they really care for the little fella.
“I just spent the last two years thinking that you guys knew more than me about life and I just found out that you guys are just as dumb as me.” “Duh-doy.” “Yeah, duh-doy.”

Kotaro taught me how to teach others to fish a lobster and he can do things independently on his own with some strength!

Really enjoyed this episode just like the prior ones. I quite liked Kotaro teaching his friend about independence after he saw how reliant he is on his housekeeper and does hint to his sad past. Also a bit surprising such a nice SOL is on netflix.

This was an episode of shorts, essentially

Gave me those good good feelings when Karino was worried about him when he stayed out late, and then again at the festival

Kotarou sure is a great friend by teaching his two friends on independence and not taking their housekeeper and parents for granted.

Amazing episode. It was sad hearing that Kotaro didn’t know the meaning behind birthdays, he even somewhat questioned if he was meant to be born. This anime in a way reminds me of Kino No Tabi.. very relaxing but teaches many valuable life lessons. I love the fact how helping his friends grow into becoming better people (independent and appreciating what you have). What makes me enjoy this anime is that a 5 year old is teaching me (an 18 year old) on how to become a better person, I’m at a stage where I need to be independent and the fact a 5yr old has forced himself to be this way makes me sad and motivates me alot

Kobayashi getting so drunk as to strip and draw on her stomach in front of Kotaro seemed unrealistic and a bit too silly.
Probably the only scene I've watched in the show that I didn't necessarily love.
Don't Japanese lawyers have drinking etiquette that facilitates some tolerance?

I hope she hangs out with Kotaro more either way.

Edit: looking back she is new to the firm from implied dialogue and Kotaro gave her what
4 beers?

I can't take it no more. Kotarou thinks dodgeball is like having a conversation so he catches every single ball thrown at him even though he gets hurt in the process, this is because he knows the pain of being ignored when trying to make conversation.
