Why do people recommend Kimi no Na wa for Koe no Katachi?

Maybe this is just me but I hardly find any similarity with both animes. the only similarity I see is the Theme(school), Am I missing something?

They are just really good, well known drama anime. Both are considered to be the best. So usually people will also pair this with I want to eat your pancreas.

any single time people try to give a recommendation from watching one of these, they mention these 3, every single time. movies by ghibil I didn’t hear about until later on. definitely more popular and to answer forum question, i also believe they have nothing in common but they’re imo in the same category? genre THAT’S the word. same genre and most popular.

Kimi no Na wa was a bit confusing a bit for me at first. But Koe no Katachi was awesome for me I recommend Koe no Katachi always .

I don't know too.Personally, I think other than the school there is nothing similar in both the anime and I love Kimi no nawa more than Silent Voice. But I think I want to eat your pancreas is more similar to Silent Voice than Kimi no nawa

Me also I might put Koe no Katachi in top or the same level, for me Kimi no Na wa felt like incomplete and I needed more

i think many people relate kimi no nawa and koe no katachi because they're two of the biggest anime movies. i don't see any similarity in the story,, the only thing they both have in common is highschool ppl and sort of a sad story. i would recommend 'i want to eat your pancreas' to those who loved koe no katachi, and 'hello world' to those who loved kimi no nawa.

Just because both movies, A Silent Voice & Your Name were released in the same phase and both of them were superhit

Well i would like to present my unpopular opinion here:

Imo, A Silent Voice was much better executed with a better conclusion than Kimi No Nawa

You can say these 2 are like part of Big 3 movies of this decade which according to me includes:
★ Kimi no Nawa
★ Koe no Katachi
★ Kimi No Suizo Wo Tabetai

For me, KNSWT is best & masterpiece among this followed by Koe no Katachi & Kimi No Nawa
