| For real, when I was trying to figure out if I could squeeze this into my season watch list, I was almost got turned away by the reviews. But I'm damn glad I didn't listen to pious social warrior dribble because this is easily the 2nd anime I look forward to most every week after Fumetsu. It made me realize just how deprived and perverted people can be to immediately think of concepts like "grooming" and "predation" while pointing a finger at this anime. Have they even watched beyond the first 4 episodes? As of this response, it's already Episode 10 and I've yet to see anything remotely sexually charged between the MCs (not that I've been looking for it, but honestly anyone who turned this anime away purely on the basis of sexual concepts were clearly expecting it). Sure, this may not be a blockbuster, AAA grade animation studio quality, and sure, the idea of a 10 year age gap is surely a reason why some people would give a hard pass. But to anyone is tacking on labels for sexual deviance onto their review is just barking up the wrong tree. |

| Well, honestly nagatoro anime has a lot of haters as well, some of them actually attack the series for the very same thing you say they "let it go". As first, unpopularity of koikimo seems to be because, unlike what some were thinking at the begining, it hasn't ended up causing any kind of controversy, and second, its ratings are basically due to the bad (wrong) first impression the anime gave due to its premise, so basically both problems come from the same source. Honestly i agree that this is definitively a better romance series than nagatoro or higehiro (although the former is still good, lets not demerit it just for its popularity), and very likely the score will go up when it ends (hopefully?). |

| For me, and the entire reason why I dropped this series is because of Ryo. I think he's just so annoying and hard to watch. When you dislike a protagonist who has screentime like him, it's hard to continue watching. |

| for me the voice acting/audio quality is horrendous, only saving grace is Hanazawa on that part, as for characters I don’t think I like a single one of them since I find them all bland; quite honestly I couldn’t care less about the age gap because there are age gap romances out there that are done well but this is not one of them (in my opinion) but yeah I think a good amount of the backlash this show gets is solely for the taboo elements so I’ll give you that |

| Maybe it's because it's how he approaches Ichika that makes me rate it so low. She rejected him on multiple occasions and is only now warming up slightly to him because he just won't leave her alone. And yes the age difference irks me, legal or not. It's clearly an issue for Ichika too telling Ryu's colleagues she was his sister. It just makes me uncomfortable. That's my 2 cents. |

| Again with this? I'd say there are a few reasons. 1. The harassing in early episodes. I mean, it's fiction and I can definitely enjoy a story which makes a comedy from wrong behaviours. But not everyone can do that. It looks like some people can enjoy it just sometimes. Human tastes aren't ruled by logic so that can happen. It goes too far, though, when people in this category start arguing about sexual harassment in the show, which doesn't make any sense. 2. The age-gap. Same as before, there are people who can't deal with an age-gap romance. 3. Misconceptions about pedophilia/ephebophilia. These ones just don't make any sense. I mean they kinda do, culturally, in a culture which has a hard time separating romance and sex. But that's not right. Pedophile (Ephebophile) refers to a person who has a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to pre (post) pubescent children (teenagers). So when a person has romantic feelinges for one person of such age it's not the same, because: - It needs not be linked to sexual attraction. - Even if it does, it doesn't mean it's a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to people of such age. And in the ephebophilia case it isn't necessarily bad, if the other people are over the age of consent. In this case, the story is about a person who has sexual preferences to people on his age range but ended up having romantic feelings for a teenager, and behaving in so many okay and wrong ways about it. So it's not pedophilia or ephebophilia and anyone who says otherwise just doesn't know the definition. | This is one anime that I'm really enjoying this season. I've seen anime guys that are abusive, way more obsessive and intrusive being romanticized, Ryo pursues Ichika but his actions aren't even nearly as bad as some others I've seen (eg: Wolfram from Kyo Kara Maoh, Domyouji from Hana yori Dango), people are only making a big deal out of it because of the visible age gap. |
