Why is an anime that treats real life issues and doesn't sexualize their minor aged characters rated so low?

Honestly, the first episode seemed pretty good. I see people complaining because the character design looks like ylia. Bro, the autor Is the same, it's an style adaptation, what do you even mean?
The animation isn't bad either, its just not fanastic like free or haikyuu, wich makes total sense having studios into consideration.
Also, the fact that femenine football is always on the bridge unlike masculine, and even the protagonist herself not being interested in femenine football and wanting to play with boys is what i call "real life issues". Here in Argentina femenine players wasn't payed until not so long ago, and our culture is basically football.
Also, the fact that their trainer is an ex-professional player and not that guy who clearly wasn't interested, loved that.
And about the non-minor-aged-sexualization, I think you already know what I mean.

The fact that they cut corners on the animation really killed the impression on this show, regardless of the quality of the story.

Also the fact that we are only given a glimpse at Nozomi's backstory was a contributing factor.

Watch cross game and you'll find why this is rated so low despite Cramer tackling bigger issues

Probably most expect this to be another masterpiece and melodramatic like YLIA since the author is the same and probably expect Makoto Shinkai level of animation. Certainly most of the low rating came from people who expect this to be another YLIA but enraged by the fact that this is not a tearjerker but rather a pretty standard sport story.

Personally for me the right score should be around 6/7 since the animation is mediocre but the story is flowing in a nice and not overly dramatic way and carries an important massage about the spirit of Women's football. I might even prefer this rather than Hanebado which have much better animation but terrible plot

i wont even bother to sugar coat it, the animation is shit.

a lot of the conflicts are stupid too
-coach spending all of their money to make a uniform that they cant wear
-main player messes up her game because she hasn't slept at All from being too excited about her new uniform
-main player gets an injury from kicking a ball in a baseball game

those would probably be better if they were funny but the comedy just doesnt work with me

Animation isn't great but people just can't see through it to actually think the story is really good stuff and the football aspects is brilliant.

Wouldn't worry too much about MAL ratings, it happens.

It’s rated low because it just isn’t a good show. All the characters are stale and the plot doesn’t provide any interesting moments nor do I get any enjoyment out of watching it. I don’t look any further to “real life issues” or the sexualization of minors. It just doesn’t meet the standards to get a good rating.

It takes more than tackling "real life" issues to make a good story

Also it's made by the same author as YLIA, no wonder it sucks lol

Tbh i don't think it's a bad anime....i didn't really enjoy the start...but i continued watching and it's not bad at all....like animation on object and stuff is good....but they really could have made characters at least a bit nicer.... especially girls....men are kinda ok...

Because the animation is ugly and the writing doesn’t make up for it?

Personally as a fan of football this show is just plain cringe for the most part. But I still watch it cuz of the lack or good football anime and also it's pretty funny to say the least.

To put it simply the anime adaptation is poorly done.

Because it's supposed to be an anime about football but there is no fuc*ing football, I mean they cut all the matches. You face one of the best team of last year they dare show you a summary of 30 seconds about it.

But it's not even a slice of life too, characters are underdeveloped and useless, comedy parts are just clichés and not even funny (granted that there is no objectivity on that take).

So what does that make this anime, if not a failed hybrid between sports and anything else.

Good on this show for trying to raise interest in women's football. Unfortunately, that's the only positive thing I can think of about this series. It's an ugly show with an obnoxious, OP MC and awful comedy.

I came to this forum because I saw the announcement of a movie for this series. I was shocked to see the rating, but oh-boy, what you mention sure sounds too bad even for a 5.6 rating.
