----------------------------------------
Arriving in the city of Kyoto from the Aomori countryside for Kiyo, Sumire and Kenta, it's not easy adjusting to the Maiko lifestyle, and it certainly takes time for the new apprentice Sumire to get things right with the Maiko stacking of apprenticeships.

Kiyo on the other hand, has been deemed not fit and must pack her bags back to Aomori...but with the helpers not doing a proper job on chores, looks like Kiyo's saved by the mundane house chores for a purpose, part and parcel of an apprentice's helper.

There's still something to learn about The Way of the Maiko, like bite-sized food so that their lipstick stays unstained. Japanese tradition IS STRICT AND SUCCINCT.

But dayum those food are tasty.

I was expecting this in next Wednesday actually. So this was a pleasant surprise.

Got to know how Kiyo ended up becoming a live-in cook. And of course some tasty looking food (while I'm fasting here :) ). Good episode.

Another cute and wholesome episode! Nice to learn how Kiyo ended up becoming a cook for the house.

It was kinda sad to see her getting told that she should go back to Aomori because she's not fit to be a Maiko... but she seems to be happy doing chores and helping out the house, so I guess that's good for her.

I love seeing all the food that they made in this episode, that Miso Kaiyaki, in particular, looks very delicious.

man, I don't despise this series or anything but the one episode per month is brutal. That sandwich part of the episode was cute and sandwiches are indeed amazing lol.

Damn... Kyoto can be really cold. Huh? Aww...That was a really sweet moment between Kiyo and her grandma. That was such a sweet episode. Kiyo couldn't become a Maiko...Poor Kiyo, she's so adorable. She's just there to cook for them. Dishes looked delicious as ever.
I feel like they keep taking her advantage. I feel bad for her. Doing chores for them as well. And that sweet Kiyo does everything without any complaints. But if she's happy, then everything's fine.
Loved the episode. Another month wait for the next episode.

Damn... man, Another great episode. Every month I can feel their childhoods slipping away but it's done in such a cheerful way. It feels perfectly balanced.

This was a bittersweet episode. Although it was a bit heart wrenching seeing Kiyo being dismissed from maiko training, we know she was destined for the kitchen anyway, and still be with Sumire as the two of them promised each other.

I had already read this manga chapter before, but something about the anime adaptation makes it more beautiful, in my opinion. Maybe it is the music, or the characters' voices.
Anyway, I teared up a little when Kiyo's Granny was talling her to take care of herself while sounding on the verge of tears.
What I love more about this anime/manga is how very important things are not told directly, but showed through actions (like Granny being sad that Kiyo was moving out, but also wishing for her happiness).

Interesting to see the starting days of Kiyo as Maiko in training and how she ended up being a cook.
