According to some people on other MAL threads it is canon as the creator of the manga said so himself. Don’t know how legit that is but oh well

This was going to be how the manga ended, but the mangaka decided to take it a different route with the ending. However, he wanted this idea to still exist in the bnha universe in some way. (I would give a source article but I’m too lazy to go back and find it lol)

Yep the creator confirmed it before the movies release.Where it takes place is a bit confusing. The fans best guess is before the Joint Training arc.Honelsty as long as you've finished S3 it doesnt matter when you watch it.

this statement was seriously misinterpreted. the author intended to finish the series WITH a second movie. that referred to a specific duration the series would cover. it did NOT mean the plot and everything that happened in the movie was supposed to be the finale of mha. after plans for the series to continue were finalized, the plot and setting of the movie was entirely changed and was nothing like the ending the author was talking about.

The creator of the series said that the Heroes Rising plot was close to how he saw himself ending the series. I hope not, bc these characters are too rich not to keep the story going for a long time.

Is this movie is canon, it creates one of the biggest plotholes ever. Deku can just give his One for All to anyone while keeping it for himself. That would solve pretty much every arc, so it would be frustratingly bad writing.
