THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- It's a recap (episode 9.5) this week. For a sport with fast paced skateboard, it's fun to relive some of the memories of the show. Pretty much all the prominent skaters and cast got featured along with a wide range of personalities. Not going to lie though, this anime has some of the better animation quality compared to other seasonal titles this Winter. This recap is like a montage mini movie. And lol, we even got the beach segments. |

Single cour shows need more recaps, otherwise brains can't fathom what's happening on a mindless show. |

For a recap it honestly wasn't all that bad- I enjoyed the banter between Shadow and Miya at least. Nice reliving the happier times for sure. |

I really liked this bc it's like ALL THE CUTEST SCENES from the show in one episode |

all this did was remind me of reki's pre-emo days TT at least it didn't count as an actual ep (more content then) |

Skipped, can't stand recap episodes. Although hopefully them getting extra time means that the few final episodes will be really polished and super satisfying. |
LOL, your opinion is wrong! |

Wasn't expecting a recap but it was fine enough. I liked the beach aspects and I'm glad they included the opening and ending like usual. |

It was a recap, but it was *so* much better than I thought it'd be! I was definitely expecting some sort of bland recap episode- but the banter between miya and shadow was a really nice break from the PAIN that was ep 9. The relaxing music at the end was a fun touch, too haha |

I think the plot enough was easy enough to understand, skatey boys doing skatey things! Not sure why we got a recap episode but I'm excited for next weeks episode |

No one that watches anime on a regular basis really "needs" a recap for 3 hours of content... and it's a sports anime. Its not like Haikyuu!! where it has that long running multi cour aspect to it. |

Hmm this season must be blessed by a recap. A whole lot has been down through the recap thing. Idk if its intentional or not. But, well, its good enough, then, to break with such an intense seasonal watch. So, yeah, that's fine. About this recap. Well, Carla, rewind that relaxing music again, please! |

HOLY CRAP, I totally forgot I have this to watch today! ... And the one time this happens, it turns out we have a recap episode? What. I have nothing against the concept itself. And if the team needed a break, let them take a break, no issue. But just what exactly necessitated this? Why was this needed at 75% of the series, with just three more episodes to go (which schedule is weird in itself)? Did so many things happen in 9 episodes (that I missed) that we just couldn't've remembered all of it? Like... seriously? Why? |

Unnecessary. Usually I go with +- 0, 1 or 2 of the score of the main show - for recaps. Some shows that I did not like but where the recap was fun/interesting (Kekkai Sensne I think) I gave a better score. Usually I stay with the same score. Here it was basically no new stuff at all. Only a bit dialogue and it even felt like there were production problems (a bit voice acting but not even switching back to the hospital to show ther faces but only using old scenes). And it was shortly before the end. Unnecessary. Still a bit of fun dialogue ... but I can't go with the same score. Going with -1 and giving a 7 here. (Main show is at 8 atm.) |

"It feels lonely without Reki" "Things feel off balance without him" "The two of them always came together" "It totally feels wrong without Reki around" Very simple sentences which easily made me smile! Quite useless as a recap episode honestly, but it was good (the first half felt like a longer RekixLanga edit, not gonna lie). Loved the art and the music as always; Miya and Shadow interactions were very funny, but Carla is the MVP as always |

Both 9 and 9.5 have been recap episodes. Why would we have two? I mean I don't particularly mind recaps... But it's odd that a 12 episode anime has 2 recaps to it. Back to back as well :/ |

I'm not sure if that's what you mean but episode 9 was a regular episode, it was called "We were special back then" |

I honestly didn’t expect to like this recap bs but it was actually fun for once? I liked the fact that miya and shadow narrated it. They went with the gintama style instead of just boring recap |

Ohhh I didn’t know it was a separate entry!! Silly me thought it was an entry for OVA ㅜㅡㅜ It was nice to see Reki & Langa being best bros then. I miss them already. Reki was so happy (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`) I hope they can make up in the next episode!!!!! |
ꕤ but i’ll probably remember over and over again you were there and everyone else was there — the day we all searched for just one thing ꕤ |

I read that the production crew for this show is having a really tough time keeping up with the schedule. Apparently, they're a pretty small team of talents that bit off a bit more than they could chew. WEP is having the same problems, which is why it had a recap too. https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2021/03/13/tv-anime-a-deadly-landscape-even-for-high-profile-productions/ |

Solid recap. I like how they showed it via Carla and had Shadow and Miya talking throughout and also integrated the current story with Cherry being injured. Pretty funny when Miya took the screenshot and said the manager would like it. Then showing clips of Shadow drunk when they went to the resort. Much better than most recap episodes that just narrate what happened and show clips. |

Great recap! Shows footage not included in the main version (such as Reki clenching his teeth playing ball on the beach as he is bothered by an injury). Emphasis is placed on Langa doing the craziest thing in his first race only wanted to race with Shadow to punish himself But most importantly, in the episode 6 commentary, Shadow calls Langa a weak twice. Considering how undignified Langa behaves towards Reki in this episode, this is pure truth. Grabbing a man around the waist without asking permission or honestly stating your unfriendly intentions, peeping at him on the beach, and purposely scaring him in the dark to make him jump up and show his underwear are clearly not the actions of a strong and confident person. Also, it's once again shown here that Reki and Langa were running away from the mysterious mud creatures equally! Neither of them is ahead of the other! And neither of them is waiting for the other on purpose, because both of them are scared and trying to move as fast as they can. And this is true for both their running and their skating. And of course, it makes me happy that the recap shows almost every example of Reki's excellent extreme skating from episode 2. I couldn't understand why Reki was so embarrassed and happy that Langa was praising someone else. With Kudouusagi's translation, everything fell into place. Because Langa was admiring Reki's skating. |
