This is one of the best anime about making anime. They could hang easily split the show into two seasons but they didn't and made it 24 episode. This chronicles the studio's struggle with two different anime adaptations, one original and one adaptation. The story is not overtly campy and you connect with the cast and their struggle. I've always known this favours shounen but seeing Crybait above this infuriates me.

I agree, this is an 8,5-9, just my opinion.

uh 8+ is already really high. barely any shows get that much, so you should be grateful with what you got in the first place. not everyone has the same opinion as you.

Isn't the point of Shirobako to make us appreciate the passion and effort that goes into the creation of any anime regardless of the ratings? Like, I learnt to admire the Shirobako specials despite them being the most 5/10 animes I've ever seen.

I remember seeing Shirobako having score 8.4. But now it's 8.35

Not as high as before, but it's still really high if you ask me. It's even in top 200

I think the show has much better reception depending on which community you go to. RedditAnimeList (Basically a compilation of scores from r/anime users with MAL flairs) has it in the top 50

it reach 8.7 in 2015 tho. Mal community getting bigger every year and rating system having dramatic change bcz of that. In past 6.5 is considered bad but now that's considered average rate.

It has already pretty good score, a very acceptable and fitting one for Shirobako :)

It's a good score considering not many people will be willing to watch an anime like this, Shirobako is a niche anime which only people who want to know more about how anime is made and what struggles these studios and people working in an anime go through will want to watch. Keeping that in mind, this score is very good but yes I'll agree this needs higher ratings or at least more recognition than it already has, more people need to watch this, it's such a great show.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

As others have mentioned, it is a decent score for a series about a niche topic. If it was rated higher, it may increase the chances of some folks going into the show with very unrealistic expectations.

If you ask me, I'd rather wish that Shirobako got more recognition. Alas, it did not have the hype machine or pre-built audience of something like Oshi No Ko

Probably it might have gotten more coverage if it was released post 2016?
