Hi and welcome! My name is kapu.
I'm a college student who likes drama shoujo and fluffy friendship slice of life. I mostly read manhwas and catch up with older stuff nowadays, I don't keep with the seasonal cycle. Page contains 69 of my favourites and heartfelt recommendations.

While I do find some fun in doing pseudo-intellectual analysis on interpreting shows like Utena, ultimately it all goes back to confirmation biases and "The curtains were fucking blue". Most shows that have some kind of philosophical rambling end up being very pretentious to me, especially now that I'm older. That and you gotta understand these shows are often made by large teams of many different people, there will be rarely a chance for a singular vision to go through unaltered. Auteur theory is a farce, after all. Mawaru was a fun show at the end of the day, fuck if it has any bullshit messages attached to it.
I used to. Not anymore. Following different circles ain't easy. But my go to was always TUMENECO because they used to be one of the few circles that actively did the Music CDs.
Give this a listen if you haven't. It made me buy their stuff at a convention.

and utena was boring. I get what Ikuhara was trying to do, but it should have been only 20 episodes, not 33.
Movie was fantastic though.
Always fun to see cultured people enjoying the Korea/chines work :)
And yeah, Soul Land is big on the clan thingy, really big. I could even say that clan is so important that it's a bit of the plot.
I will blame it on that I'm tired! And that's why i just recommended some Anime instead.
But Hey, Doulou Doulao aca Soul Land is a Isekai show.
It's about a Assassin that trained hard, and died and got reborn into a world where magic is used, the magic comes from your soul.
The more you train the higher rank you advanced up to, the MASTERS of the world is around level 98 or 99, higher then that is close to impossible. Just a very few have reached this high level and they advanced into a being similar to a GoD they become that poweful.
Tang San, the main character geta a special power as he is the mc, but he never the strongest and it pushes him into training and advaning into or at least trying to reach above level 99, to be available to protect the love once.
Do i recommend it yeah, can you ingore a season, no, you can't as Myaninelist is making it into seasons, somehow, but they shouldn't.
You could see it like a serie like Naruto or One Piece, but Myaninelsit thought it was a good idé to make it into 13 ep's season instead ?
But, it's hard to really say what the story is about ,without spolining anything, but please give it ago.
And please do not ignore ep's, try to watch it, or read it, or do both would be the best thing to do.
The web comic style is really different from the Anime too, so it could even become hard to tell the characters from each another.
But if you want something that goes more into character development Tales of Demons and gods, would be a better pick. And I would recommend this show above Soul Land.
But, If you started just one of them, that would make me happy.
Best places to watch:
What ever you do, just don't jump between Anime->Web Comic and back. Do both, do one, or do none.
As the style is so different.
What I first would highly recommend you is world masterpiece theatre.
You might ask what is this ? It's Studio Nippon for years and years ago toke popular children books and turned them into Anime.
Alps no Shoujo Heidi
Haha wo Tazunete Sanzenri
Haikara-san ga Tooru ( th tv serie only exist in raw )
Perrine Monogatari
Akage no Anne
Makiba no Shoujo Katri
Ai Shoujo Pollyanna Story
Shoukoujo Sara
Ai no Wakakusa Monogatari ( do not watch the sequel )
Watashi no Ashinaga Ojisan
Kaze no Naka no Shoujo: Kinpatsu no Jeanie
I highly recommend try every show above, they are all really good and well done in terms of story and characters:
A few really good sport Anime:
Capeta
Musashi no Ken
Shin Ace wo Nerae! ( most of this show is raw, but still 100% worth watching )
A few good action once:
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Tsuioku-hen only watch this.
Kara no Kyoukai
Casshern Sins
No need to read this:
"Радвам се да попадна на сънародник онлайн" - shock-desu!
As for Perfect Blue, I believe that is Satoshi Kon's worst movie because its reliance on stereotypes and 'ugly appearance = ugly personality'. Paprika has much more surrealism which leaves more room for interpretation so I thought that movie is significantly better.
Portrait of a Lady on Fire was disappointing...I don't really know how people find depth in the movie despite being so mediocre. All of the themes it used were shallow at best for me and I wish the romance was deeper than just lips touching.
To be honest, I would have completely forgotten about AnoHana, if not for the messages of that one guy on my profile :)
