I don't hate this story, but I had a lot of problems this chapter.

The story used the word 'homo' all the time, and I just ignored it since I thought the writer probably wasn't aware of it sounding offensive. However, it seems they knew it the whole time, and never thought it was important to fix it early on in the story.

I don't like how disgusting Makoto is. Even though he calls himself disgusting, the story shows him in a positive way. I assumed he was just someone going through problems of his own, but he's just awful. I don't like that the only adult gay character is that creepy man!

While I like Miura's friendship with Jun, I don't really like Miura. If you ship fictional characters, I'm fine with it. If you ship real people, it's not that cool. It feels absolutely awful! And Miura keeps doing that, and it's extremely disrespectful.

I don't think Jun needs to introduce himself as a gay boy. That just makes it look like being gay defines him. Can't he just casually tell people he's gay when they talk about girls?

I don't like Ono. What he did was awful. He made someone actually give up on their life. Just because he became slightly supportive doesn't mean the story should forgive him.

The story covers a lot of sensitive topics, which is a very good thing, but it would have been nice if they did a little more research on being queer and having a mental illness.

Mr. Fahrenheit is probably the reason I kept reading. He was such a wonderful guy.

This manga's art was always beautiful, but it felt unbelievably beautiful this chapter. That was quite impressive!

while i really liked the themes presented in this manga as a whole, i agree that it is quite flawed in more than one respect.

this manga really tackled internalized homophobia in a society that doesn't accept you really well. jun's development, thoughts, and struggles overall felt fairly realistic, and some of the things he thought and said really resonated with me. jun's struggles evoked the feelings i had when struggling with my sexuality without feeling like it was something overly fetishized.

it was interesting to see miura's growth as a character. she may not be entirely likable to some by the end, but one can't deny that she has grown as a character, as a person. in conjunction, miura's and jun's relationship had an interesting dynamic that i liked, by the end. jun's feelings towards miura, and miura's feelings towards jun, and their interaction--
they had grown and changed throughout the manga. it was also nice to see a distinction drawn between romantic attraction and sexual attraction.

i loved mr. fahrenheit. besides being a nice reference to queen, he had some beautiful thoughts and views about the people in society, and his story was both a tragedy and a reminder of the struggles gay people go through with hiv. the decision to make him a middle schooler, and jun's subsequent reaction ("a chuuni?"), was interesting. i felt it added a depth of complexity to his character, as well as story.

i did have some qualms with the age-gap situations with makoto. as a character, i don't think makoto is that bad. is he reprehensible, yes. but he also has some depth to him, and indeed embodies the path some gay people have taken. however, you're right in that the story treats him gently. there's not enough addressing the wrongs he has committed. i have to give the author credit, though, for attempting to tackle this controversial issue with some depth, because the truth is these sort of relationships and people do exist.

ono did get off easy. i wish there was more in the narrative addressing what he did, because pushing someone to suicide is no joke. maybe jun can forgive him easily, but the story definitely shouldn't. i liked that bit about queen inserted in while ono was bullying jun, though, where we find out that jun didn't know beforehand that freddie mercury was gay/bisexual. small, but an interesting tidbit that served to humanize, "not everything is about being gay", that kind of feeling.

honestly, chapter 10 sucked. it felt more like a fever dream, self-insert, or wish fulfillment. that was one of the sour notes in an otherwise somewhat-decent manga...like, miura, really? even if he's already been outed, there's no need to out jun again, and air out a bunch of personal issues/events while you're at it. it just felt terribly forced and unrealistic.

i had mixed feelings about ryouhei's thing for grabbing crotches. on one hand, at the end, it was way to show that ryouhei had accepted jun fully. on another hand, it's uncomfortable and not really addressed as it is...i suppose jun was okay with it, by the end.

overall, this manga had a lot of flaws, but i don't regret reading it. it attempted to tackle some more controversial as well as rare themes (ex: hiv), and i can admire it for that. according to the translators, the original novel lost a lot of nuance and detail when being translated to manga format, but unfortunately, i don't think there's an english translation.

i like soup

Loved the story from the guys perspective. He knew what he was but couldn't accept it since the way it is perceived as abnormal which made him feel abnormal. I think the society, people's perspective to look at something different from them as abnormal and level it as such should change cause it can be a sole factor for someone to be deprived of their own feelings and emotions. In the beginning didn't really like the way the girl thought as she liked homos as in BL however claimed that there were gay near which felt like denying their existence to me, don't know how the author actually wanted to come off tho. But in the later part she really made a great impact in the MC's life
And dislike that older guy from depth of my heart like who the fuck views their own son with lust and even had the audacity to project such lust on a minor and claim it as love, that's jus hypocrisy.
Well all in all it was an eye opening read and realistic with how people go through life while trying to find the meaning of their own existence in a closeted and narrow-minded society.

BEING HOMOSEXUAL IS NORMAL
Cause it's just about You LIKING someone which your heart wants to
You are never at fault for LIKING someone, its the society which view you as per their prejudice and narrow-mindedness at fault.
So I hope every person will live with their head held high without feeling small from other insignificant individuals who are of no help or importance in their life whatsoever.

This manga was good but also had many questionable elements that are just being swept under the rug. For starters, the pedophile who raped the MC again and again, the bar's mama who was completely okay with the MC being raped, the bully who got off scot free, but first year who made fun of the MC and also got off scot-free. Basically, anybody who did anything bad in the manga got off scot-free and the only person who paid for everything was the MC, who also btw was unlikable to me because he knowingly indulged in an affair. Nothing justifies cheating.

Also, the problematic readers who have a problem with every little detail in the manga but call a pedophile raping a minor as "age gap"
Wow. They sure have their priorities fucked up.

There were definitely moments I liked and but some moments just made me far too uncomfortable to fully enjoy this, particularly the MC’s relationship and then the revelation that the older guy was sexually attracted to his son? The bully also got off way too easily considering his words drove someone to attempt suicide. Pretty strange manga

thank you I have the exact same feelings as you. Makato has a psychological problem but that doesn't justify pedophilia and just arghh :( Miura also had mote potential but at certain times she comes across as this horrible fujoshi but she wasn't the worst and def agree about Ono.
