So, I recently went on re watch of this show. As I recall when I first started this show ages ago now, I distinctly remember hating the first two episodes (not so much hate, I just thought they were generic and boring). But I found it undeniably striking how enjoyable they are after a re watch. After watching it again, despight knowing all the twists and turns along with the result, I find this show ever better and more interesting. The animation is great! The CG has not aged well, but its not all that bad in most cases. But the story is sooo striking, there is so much more depth then I originaly thought, but this can only really be appreciated with a re watch.
I even went as far as to update my ranking for pretty much the first time ever on a show.

I will keep this short.

I know its getting more unlikely as time moves on, but dang I want another season.

Just though I would share this. I encourage everyone to give this show some of your time. If you have never seen it, give it a go, you never know. And to those who have seen it, maybe try it again, you might be surprised.

As time moves on I seem to be watching anime in general with a more positive light, I am starting to try not to put shows down at the beginning just because someone tells me something bad about a show. This could be a reflection of that, or it could just be a little nostalgia.

I didn't care much for this anime. Then I've picked up the novel. The anime adapts only the first volume which is the weakest part of the novel, and the rest is actually pretty good.

If you liked or at least didn't mind the anime, I would really suggest picking up the novel.

It's a really good show. Good dialogue, characters, story. They set it up perfectly for a second season, I guess people just aren't into this type of series.

DISCLAIMER :its been quite a while since I finished it, so there might be couple things missing. But I hope from this u can get a gist of what happens in vol 2.

Vol 2:

The braves decided to continue their mission and went to the howling vileland despite the appearance of a 2nd fake brave cuz otherwise they would get stuck there trying to solve who the fake brave is. That's not an option cuz they only have 30 days before the demon god full awakening and they've have already wasted lots of time during the events of the anime.

After settling on a hill in demon's territory, fremy tells everyone everything about the fiends, the 3 demon general:cargikk, dozzu and tgurneu etc

But suddenly, tgurneu appears from underground. In his first appearance, I'd describe tgurneu as extremely weird and unpredictable as my first impression. It insists to greet each other before anything else.

Obviously, the braves starts attacking tgurneu while a horde of demons are coming their way as reinforcement. At this point, the braves decided to make adlet the leader cuz he's the least suspicious right now. Adlet ordered goldof chamo and hans to hold off the fiend army while the rest kill tgurneu.

After a little of fighting here and there, tgurneu runs toward his horde of demons with the braves in pursuit. Adlet decides to use his ultimate weapon created by his master, the saint spike(if I'm not mistaken).

But when adlet successfully stabbed tgurneu with it, it's seems as if it's not working. Being left unguarded, adlet got knocked out by tgurneu. The braves retreat and rendesvous at the only safe zone in demon territory(forgot what it's called)

During their retreat, mora is the rearguard and when everyone else is far away, a fiend brings a message from tgurneu saying that she is running out of time.

Adlet wakes up and ask what the situation is. Adlet, fremy(the most knowledgeable about fiends, rolonia(has the power to tell what the blood is consisted of by licking it) rack their brains to try to figure out tgurneu's weakness and why the spike doenst work.

Tgurneu arrives with his army and adlet(along with goldof and hans) decides to go back to the place where tgurneu appeared from underground b4 to try looking for more clues while mora creates a barrier around the area which prevents tgurneu from running away from the location. Mora looks impatient and desperate for adlet's return.

Adlet and Co found an underground tunnel. Btw, goldof became unresponsive and depressed after the events of season 1. Adlet found some clues and instructed goldof and hans to look for something, if this thing is there, that perfects adlet theory and tgurneu's true nature.

Back at mora, she gets more impatient cuz adlet still has not return and discover tgurneu weaknesses. She decides to just storm towards tgurneu cuz she's running out of time on a suicide mission to blow herself up when she gets close to it. Fremy and chamo follows after her wondering what she's trying to do. Fremy and chamo decides to leave her alone and retreat cuz the risk of mora being the fake brave and this is all a trap.

Suicide bombing failed, tgurneu offers help and mora accepts. Adlet and Co returns but suddenly mora makes an announcement using her power saying fremy ran off somewhere insinuating that she's a fake while in reality mora knocked out fremy and chamo with drugs. Hans goes to where mora is while goldof and adlet goes to where fremy is headed as directed by mora.

Goldof and adlet encounters demons that has been ordered by mora to stall them there(this is tgurneu's help). Hans goes to where mora is and gets ambushed by mora. Hans immediately realised mora is trying to kill him and thinks that she's a fake brave

Adlet and goldof realizes that this is a diversion and goes back to mora is. Mora and hans fights with hans having the upper hand and overpowering her. But mora was able to incapacitated him and slit his throat. Hans died.

Adlet and goldof arrive after waking fremy and chamo up. Mora quickly tells rolonia to heal hans as she was trained by her.

Mora's back-story:

Couple years b4 season 1,tgurneu planted a parasite in mora's daughter's heart(mora is married and has a daughter). After trying every alternative she can, her daughter is still not getting better. At a lost, mora finally decides to negotiate with tgurneu about it. Results of the negotiation:

1)mora has to kill at least 1 brave b4 a certain set amount of time(this is why she's impatient all the time and why she's always in rush which explains her behavior in season 1).

2)if she can kill tgurneu b4 that, then her daughter is safe. But if she can't, she was given the choice of killing a brave which is why she killed hans.

(There's a lot more to the deal, but I think this is the gist of it)

But mora has another plan, luckily mora found a brilliant candidate to become the saint of blood(rolonia). Mora plans to train her to become a very good and effective healer to serve as a back up plan if she fails to kill tgurneu and is forced to kill a brave.

Back to present, after getting the signal that one of the braves is dead, tgurneu kept his word and release the parasite. But unbeknownst to tgurneu, rolonia has successfully cleaned hans' blood and "resurrect" hans.
So, in the end mora wins this mind game against tgurneu.

After things settles down, mora tells everyone about it and the group decides to kinda forgives her cuz they know she was in a difficult situation.

Adlet then reveals what he has found out about tgurneu:

Tgurneu has the power to change his host or something, that's why when he stabbed tgurneu, that body died, not the real tgurneu. Other than that, I've forgotten but there's definitely something more about this.

Afterwords:I think this is about it. I definitely forgot some important plot points so don't trust this too much.

Vol 3 summary:

The braves found a Cliff which is hindering them from getting to the demon god. Suddenly goldof runs off somewhere, the braves go after him.

Tgurneu activated some sort of parasite in chamo's stomach which he planted couple years prior. The braves are stuck between finding goldof or saving chamo.

Goldof's back-story is revealed etc. A lot of conspiracy and deception happens. Turns out goldof rans off cuz nashetania got captured by tgurneu... At the end, goldof successfully saved nash and chamo....... The braves and nash struck an alliance to defeat tgurneu

Of course there's a lot more to it. But im writing this off the top of my so a lot of details and plot points is left out

VOL 4:You know that fiends have been kidnapping humans right? These human are used as foods, physical labour etc. One of the humans escaped to warn the braves about black barrenbloom, Tgurneu's weapon. Dozzu told the braves about this, the braves went to thus location to unravel the mysteries. Tgurneu tries to split/delay the Braves with hundreds of zombified humans. So, basically this volume is a race against time, braves trying to find the escaped human to gain more information about black barrenbloom before he dies while keeping those zombie humans at bay.

VOL 5: The Braves come across a labyrinth temple that was used for the creation of the Black Barrenbloom. While the runes inside the temple are incomplete, what they can decipher from it reveals what the Black Barrenbloom is. Skipping some things a little bit, they all became convinced that adlet is a fake brave again(basically vol 1 all over again but this time, something feels wrong about adlet)

VOL 6: A grand confrontation of an army of fiends lies ahead. Tgurneu threatens to kill them all if fremy doesn't switch sides cuz she has the same kind of heart parasite Mora's daughter has and the danger of black barrenbloom is upon them.

By this point, the braves have splitted up. Hans and chamot still believes adlet is a fake and wants to defeat tgurneu in their own way. Can the braves prevail while on each other's throat and divided?

Also, the epilogue completely turn everything upside down (you want that epilogue too?)
Take note I summarized a hell lot out of these so there's more to everythin

Some significant spoiler:

1)adlet is the 2nd fake brave, tgurneu gave him a brave crest which he got from hayuha(previous generation of braves)

2)fremy is black barrenbloom, her function is to slowly suck the crests power so that the braves will die

3)fremy killed adlet's sister in the past

4)the demon god and the goddess of fate is heavily implied to be related and have some type of connection.

5)tgurneu hypnosis adlet to fall in love with fremy so he will protect her.

6)at the end of vol 6, adlet gave up cuz the shock from knowing that all his life has been influenced by tgurneu's intervention somehow or another. Adlet told the braves to kill him.
