Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland) manga concluded its four-year serialization in the 28th issue of Weekly Shounen Jump on Monday.

Synopsis
At Grace Field House, life couldn't be better for the orphans! Though they have no parents, together with the other kids and a kind "Mama" who cares for them, they form one big, happy family. No child is ever overlooked, especially since they are all adopted by the age of 12. Their daily lives involve rigorous tests, but afterwards, they are allowed to play outside.

There is only one rule they must obey: do not leave the orphanage. But one day, two top-scoring orphans, Emma and Norman, venture past the gate and unearth the harrowing secret behind their entire existence. Utilizing their quick-wittedness, the children must work together to somehow change their predetermined fate. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Shirai and Posuka launched the fantasy thriller manga in Weekly Shounen Jump in August 2016. Shueisha published the 18th volume on March 4 (pictured), with the 19th volume scheduled for a July 3 release. The 20th and final volume will ship in October. Yakusoku no Neverland has a cumulative 21 million copies of its volumes in print worldwide.

VIZ Media published the first three chapters in English simultaneously with the Japanese release as a part of its Jump Start initiative and subsequently serialized it in their digital Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The company now simulpublishes the manga on its new Shounen Jump platform and released the 15th volume on June 2. Shueisha's Manga Plus platform also began simulpublishing the manga in English last January.

CloverWorks produced a 12-episode television anime in Winter 2019. Aniplex of America licensed the anime and simulcast it on Crunchyroll, Funimation, HIDIVE, and Hulu. The company released the anime on Blu-ray on March 31. Adult Swim's Toonami programming block began airing the show with an English dub in April 2019. A second season was originally scheduled for Fall 2020, but has since been delayed to Winter 2021 due to the effects of the COVID-19.

Shueisha announced a Japanese live-action film adaptation last September, which will screen in theaters on December 18. A Western live-action series is currently in development by Amazon.

Yakusoku no Neverland was nominated for the 10th and 11th Manga Taisho awards and the 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The series won the 63rd Shogakukan Manga Award for shounen manga and placed first in the male readers' division in the 2018 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings.

Funny how how all the manga that started in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2016 (Kimetsu, Yuuna and the haunted hotsprings, neverland) all ended in 2020 (unless you want to count boruto..)

Amazing to see a Shounen Jump title end so short... well I gotta read the rest of this manga anyway. Whatever little amount of it I read was pretty good, and I'll be more enthusiastic to try and finish it, now that I hear it's not going to be something absurdly long like most of the popular shounen.

Congratulations to the creators for the conclusion of the manga!

I've been hearing a lot of negative reception following the final chapter but here's to hoping the anime adaption will see through it all nevertheless.

A wonderful gesture, in my opinion.

Fucking hell, finally. Manga that started off with some of the greatest opening arcs I've readed in years. Just to fuck up everything after that and deliver just another poorly written, cliche and chaotic story. One if the biggest disappoints in manga so far.

Man, you read these comments and it really takes away the motivation to continue. I was not interested in Kimetsu no Yaiba at all. But I was thinking about picking this one back up from where I stopped but now I am not sure if I would want to continue.

I even read Vinland Saga lost a lot of steam after the animated story.

Comments like these makes me think whether

I know every 19 out of 20 readers who finished it think it was the perfect ending for the story.

Guess it is time to put the cow to rest. The manga kept getting more and more generic as the story progressed and it was really noticeable after the great first arc. Clearly the author had ideas only for the first arc and wrote whatever came to his mind afterwards.

im guessing everyone here expected it to be a perfectly written shounen. id say to finish it up, its still really good and the characters are all lovable. although its up to you, just dont let others negative opinions affect if youll continue or not ^^

Really sad to see it end, I hope it all gets adapted and maybe the anime can change a few things to have more of a satisfying end that doesn't leave me crying :')

Despite its last weak stretch, its still a really recommended read. I just hope Shirai never has a daughter, or hes gonna pamper that lil brat as much as he did with Emma.

Go give it a chance. Both vinland saga and the promised neverland
And vinland Second arc is actually great its one of the most interesting character transformations ever done in fiction. People hating on it just dont have an appreciation for manly men doing farming and agriculture sh*t. cheers.

Vinland Saga second arc is arguably more well balanced for me than the first, weaker highlights, but overall more consistent and you can finally start to like the MC.

As for Neverland, I was never in the hype even after reading the first 40 chapters, so when people say it goes weaker from there...
