| Should've known this would be here too. I've been seeing this numerous times every now and then for the past year or so, and I just love it! Aesthetics are simply fabulous! Sweet little Romance too, seeing the middle-schooler distraught over not encountering her anymore was so adorable and those final moments are brilliant! Lots of (random) Spirits but this is just great! Thank you, Lotte, BUMP OF CHICKEN and Studio Bones, for this wonderful little treat! Easy 8/10! |

| Both versions of the video are excellent. The more straight up ad version has more of that fervent energy I'd expect from Matsumoto, my favourite being the cat knocking the can into the dude's face. I also like how the music syncs in the start up with the headphones dropping, and it strangely is the only version that includes the boys fantasy of their hands meeting on the candy. That part was pretty cute and fits the boy/girl focus on the other version so much that I'm kinda baffled it was cut. But I prefer the version with the boy/girl focus. For starters, it has the full song, so that's a plus. But while it loses some of the energy, it makes up with it for having much stronger visual/audio connection. Music videos should sync up with song, and this video has several. There's the obvious head beating while wearing headphones part but I love how whenever those chiptune/8-bit sounds show up in the instrumentation that penguin game shows up. But my favourite bit is the "Yeah" vocal parts (which is one of my favourite parts of the song, and is absent in the ad version). The first "Yeah" at 1:02 is synced up with the boy's expression widening due to the cute girl and the second "Yeah" is synced up with him exploding on the New World title screen. I love touches like that. Beyond that, the visuals of this are just top tier pretty, tell a sweet little story (I love the ending bit where the posters are invested in their relationship) and the song is excellent too. Maybe my favourite BUMP OF CHICKEN song, there's a lot of strong hooks, the aforementioned "Yeah" part and the main refrain line "Baby I Love You Daze" is perhaps the catchiest sound they caught on. The vocal runs on Bouen no March might still make the might favourite song from them, but this is solid competition. 8/10. Peter_Dorvay said: What does da ze means? | Better than any ad has any right to be. How does Rie Matsumoto not have more under her filmography?! 1 movie and 2 tv seasons as lead director. There are other roles and smaller projects (like this) too, but she deserves so much more! |
