I felt very little emotion while watching the episode. I just never became attached to Chii over the course of the series and couldn't understand what Hideki was feeling.

manga > anime

It's been a long time since I watched it, but I remember feeling a bit unsatisfied with the anime ending.

anime was just full of fanservice that was used as filler and made chobits seem less respectable. i've only seen 3 episodes of the anime but the manga was one of the best I've ever read.

i though it was great, loved it all and had a nice ending, sure felt like there were fillers, but its a light hearted series, with the biggest seriousness/emotional part towards the end, so you needed all the episodes to get in touch with Chii !!!

The last episode of this anime was a complete bust.

As I said to someone before:

I pretty much had a bigger problem with it than the disregard of any philosophical elements (okay, I know Hideki is our resident 'farm-boy' who's supposed to be innocently ignorant and culturally deficient, so philosophy pretty much went bust); it would have been much better if the actual direction itself allowed the viewers to experience said philosophy of man and machine if the characters themselves don't.

I mean, you can think about it like this: has man become so devoid of human interaction that he only experiences acceptance and comfort from a computer? So then he falls in love with it? If Chobits was a giant metaphor for a guy being in love with his Dell, I would have been much happier. Alas.

Hideki's technological ineptness was painful at times and half of the cute fanservice should have been cut. Nevertheless I liked the series.

The last episode should have been cut down as well and combined with the previous episode.

In a way I wanted more to be said about human-persocom relations. There were the scenes about how dangerous (for the self and world) getting emotionally involved with a persocom is, with shots of everybody in the crowd having only a persocom beside them. Having a more philosophical ending may have been more satisfying. But I admit I did tear up a bit in the last two episodes.

I think if they DID go with the philosophical ending too much, they would end up alienating half their audience either way.

If they became preachy about accepting robots and robot-lovers on equal terms as humans, that'd piss off alot of people, myself included. Or if they went the route of saying it's ultimately fruitless and is an abomination that hurts mankind they'd piss off alot of people, myself yet again included.

Their current, half-way approach, saying they'd "explore" their newfound relationship, was the best from my perspective.

I liked it a lot. The series had a lot of fan service but in a way it mocked the whole idea of fan service, and most of it was for comedy value. The ending was very good and I did get a little teary-eyed... Only a little. Overall a wonderful plot full of irony and creativity.

huh well i just finished waching chobits and the ending was great all the emotions were well it brought a tear to my eye the end was unsatisfying they should make an episode for every anime at the end wich shows what happens after all that because it leaves an emtyness in your heart that cant be filled even if you watch that episode it leaves you in a deppresion that you cant get out of so if they made an episode that explains what happens after the ending that would be great.

this is a continuation from my last post

the emtyness in side your heart after waching anime wants to make you cry but for some reason you cant and that just sadens you even more the deppresion that comes in that makes you lock your self in your room like a hikimori it is inpossible to understand with out feeling this feeling and you just want it to go away but when you wach the anime you want it to be real but it cant maybe that is why you feel so lonly and cold inside but still even then after figuring out why you feel this way it wont go away that is why you have to find the one who will make this pain go away and if any one has xbox live and want to talk about this article my gamer tag is roasrio vamp1re but besides that the feeling you have inside is most likely love and hatred for all things because you cant fill the hole in your heart that makes you want every anime to be your life to be real it just wants to make you cry but sadly you c..ant.

Freya disappears leaving Chii and Hideki together, it's nice to have a happy ending.
I don't understand the program Chii releases, it was to allow all persocoms to feel human emotions (i.e love)?

But anyway, I enjoyed this series.

I liked the anime and I think it should get a vote between 7 and 8. It made me think about relationships between people and AI enabled machines, and why not, between people who decide not to bear childs. It's somehow linked.

nice show but the last episode wasn't reallly satisfying to me,the drama part was only at the end as well as the two "villains",for me these two were superfluos.
I loved the first 11 eps and liked the other ones.
The supporting characters were great and gave a good backround to the plot.

Ending made my overall score come down to 7. The series could have been an 8 to me since the drama with Yumi and Takako seemed to bring depth to the series.

The series didn't really need the recap episodes.

The final episode kind of left me with a "what?" and a "huh?" reaction. What's with the eyes getting pupils all of a sudden. I thought that could/might have played a role in the persocon's quest to being more human like since it's plastered on the OP. But in the end it was unnecessary since there was no explanation. The blank stares the persocons had were a little freaky.

Anyway. Not bad as a whole I guess.

This show has some cliche, some stock characters, lots of fillers and seemed really long and dragged out. But it's still a classic and lots of the so-called "cliches" within this anime actually originated in it so that's not bad at all. Nice happy simple ending which was completely predictable. Whole anime leaves a happy and complete feeling so thats really neat. 9/10 cause this is a classic.

Nice how they actually made the anime have some more deeper meaning and themes too even if they weren't executed to the best they could have been.

tehnominator pretty much summed up my opinion.

Also, the ending was far too cliche for my liking and seemed a bit watered down when it could have had lots of depth to it (i.e. fillers, fan service, the rather repetitive story).

Gets a 5 from me, and thats only really because I found the early episodes very funny. The less comedy they used, the more boring it become.

Didn't quite get the ending.

Did Freya disappear? What's the program Chii's going to release?
Who's the landonwer's husband? What's with the organization and developers?
Why did Chii forget all her data? How did she turned up in the garbage area?
Why did the persocons's eyes became detailed for like seconds?, then turned back to its orginal form.

Gah, didn't quite get it. =
Overall: 9/10 for me. Enjoyed the series mainly because of Chii and Sumomo. Epic cuteness ftw. Loved the soundtrack, aswell as the supporting characters. Great background and such.

Yeah, I guess she did disappear. She decided to leave Chi and Hideki alone I guess. Or instead, SHE got formatted and left Chi's data alone because Chi decided to stay with Hideki, even if it'd be a hard life for them.

Maybe the father of all persecoms? Not too sure about the last. Kinda gets confusing.

At first, the landownder formatted her and put her in the trash so that someone would find her, get her, and Chi could find her own love by herself. She never really disappeared after that.

Well, I believe that Chi and Freya's existence was to live as "humans" (Or at least as close as possible to being like them.) and become beings that could love and be loved. Thus, they collected data about their own experiences (Hence the data goth persecom having a migraine from too much data after Chi was confessed to.). The "program" was something meant to sort that data and send it to all persecoms, thus letting them learn how to love and be loved.

So in short, they get feelings. XD

Oeh, nice explanation, Gerard ^^ I didn't quite got the ending either. Perhaps I should read the manga xD

What I found really weird though... if Chii, Elda, was created as a child for two parents, WHY did they put the button to turn her on between her legs >< For the special person?

But I liked the series, so I give it an 8.

Show didn't get good until about the last 3rd of the episode run. Overall it was wasted potential for storytelling on future relationships between humans and machines. It had its moments though. When the malfunctioning persocom saved the life of her "husband" is an anime moment I'll likely never forget.

Glad it had a happy ending. I was afraid that Chi would broke Hideki's heart haha. Overall i enjoyed this series a lot althought it had plenty of fanservice, but nothing too revealing i think... It made me laugh numerous times, how Hideki would jump and yell to Chi, when she was saying some crazy stuff. And then how it ended... Chi and Hideki singing the ending song at the end credits was super cute and relaxing end to a fun series. Opening song is nice too, althought maybe too cute to my ears, but it's nice all together. Rie Tanaka's songs were good too, the melancholic and sad ending song was really something. Side characters weren't very strong, Hideki and Chi's relationship kept this series interesting and fun to watch. So overall score will be 8.

Wow can't believe that some people are complaining about the fillers... Sure there where some but come on, there waren't that much.... You people should watch Shugo chara, THAT anime has alot of fillers.

But oke I liked this anime actually. I tried to watch it when I was little but stopped but I'm happy that I still watched it.

I didn't have high expentations of it and I think that that's the problem with alot of people. That's the reason why they don't give Chobits a change but I think that more people should watch this.

I think the manga was better, it explained much more things, and the relationship between Hideki and Chii was ...deeper (?). Also, I don't think the fillers were necessary... It's a 26 episode anime.

What I enjoyed the most about the anime was Sumomo.

I actually didn't mind the filler - I found it comedic and tasteful at times.
Very cute anime!
However, I thought the plotline was lacking. Wtf was the program Chi was supposed to run at the end?
Besides that, why didn't they include more of the two persocons who were after Chi (the database, and Dita)? There was very little explanation of that. Nor was there explanation as to why Chi would get glowy and be able to fly.

0/5 for the ending.
4/5 for the cute comedic parts of the anime.

saaaay whaaaaa?

kids, never fall in love with your PC...yeah this was totally awkward, and although i saw Hideki as some kind of dad for Chii to end up with her is dumb...although predictable, very dumb

Chobits=an anime that started great(1-6),but then got repetitive(7-18),and then stopped making any sense(19-26)

7/10

Later Edit(after 2 mins): duuuuuuuuude he hooked up with a robot what the &%^#?????
what the hell were the creators smoking?is it good that Motosuwa will live a lone wolf life with a cute laptop and downloading porn?O.o

this almost beats sola for the dumbest ending ever for an anime...no,it beats it,actually it's a tie i think -_-

Well i didn't feel emotional at all for some reason it just lacked...i don't know...felt empty? Either way it was a cliche o_o
This show had a lot more potential but it was wasted and Hideki's "dumbness" and "logic"didn't help either it really annoyed me...
And the whole Chii is "dangerous" thing was thrown away and forgotten and ending was dragged out too much they could've finished it last episode...
But i did enjoy the first half the show a lot ^^;;

The tehnominator's review pretty much sums it up...

Pretty disappointed :\
AND I wanted more of those "bad" Persocoms, those two were cute 3:

Would have given it a 8/10 but the ending takes it down to 6/10...BUT I'll give it 7/10 for CLAMP's sake ( ToT)

The whole point of this was the controversy shrouding humans falling in love with non-human beings, and how it hypothetically would be frowned upon.
What I especially liked about this anime was the shift in theme, from comedy to something a bit darker - a more serious tone.
The overall premise was very good and a breath of fresh air. If I had to pick something 'bad', it would be the lack of romance between the male protagonist and the Persocom. Because there weren't a big enough emphasis on the love between them, it made it feel a bit awkward, as if it was a brother-sister kind of relationship instead of a real one. The lack of kissing in the end also made it seem a bit silly, especially when she hugged him instead of getting more intimate with him.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the series.

Ok, Chi was some kind of sandbox to create a program that will allow pc to love. The trigger to spread the program was when she succeed on falling in love herself ("find the one only for me").

7/10 - Decent ending, felt a little rushed with the land lady events but overall nice stuff

To the very end i was hoping Shinbo suffer a cruel and unexpected death so Shimizu ended up with Hideki ~.~

This show confuses me. I had all my complaints ready and everything, but these last few episodes jumbled them all up. Apparently there's a lot of things I missed from the beginning since I watched it like I was watching a regular ecchi show. Gonna have to watch this again another time, or even read the manga, to understand the story and the characters. Other then that, Chobits was just fun to watch, even with its flaws.
