Monogatari Series: Final Season
| Zoku Owarimonogatari, written as 続・終物語. Continuation of the end story. Then the image, it might just be chosen by someone, but with Zoku (族 meaning tribe/clan/band) sounding the same. Sounds like it's falling apart? Tribe's end story. Then again, Zoku(俗) also makes a bit of sense. layman/Fake Clergy, as he kept mingling as a Imposter/fake exorcist. Zoku(賊) seems unlikely. Araragi becoming a thief? (I have not read those books, as they are not yet released in English where I am. And my grip on the Japanese language is still only jlpt n5, reading it is too hard.) |
| I have absolutely no knowledge of Japanese, so I don't know if this helps, but in my experience, I think it's just supposed to mean "Continuation of the End Story". From what I heard, Zoku Owari is just supposed to wrap up everyone else's character ark, before we see what Araragi's misadventures are in college, but then again, NisiOisiN loves his palindromes and Japanese word-play, so I could totally see him trying something like this. According to your first alternative definition of "Zoku", it could mean that the main cast of characters could be considered the "tribe", or "band" (unless we are going into some in-verse religion or some musical performance for some reason), and so it would be the end story of the main cast of characters. I doubt the possibility of the other two definitions, as we have well passed the point where Kaiki rambles on about the value of something fake being worth more than the real thing and all the other imposter themes inherent of Nisemonogatari, and I don't think that Araragi, or anybody for that matter, would become a thief. But then again, I am just going off the information you provided, so I have no idea whether or not I am making the correct assumptions. I suppose I should leave this one to someone fluent in Japanese. |

Anyway to the topic, I feel like unless someone here has read the novels and has more experience, we really can't say whether the title is just coming from the fact that it's a continuation of Owari, or if there's 2-5 different meanings and puns behind it. I wouldn't put it past Nisioisin to even make the obvious answer just straight up wrong, with the right answer being some wordplay |
